Watch in HD!!! This is a drum play-through for a song called 'Avarice', by Silis. Link to stream/purchase this song are below.
Silis is a new music project I'm involved with, and this is our first single. It was originally started by Abel Hernandez and Nick Jones, who were kind enough to reach out to me about drumming on, mixing, producing, and mastering this song. As we went forward, we realized that we enjoyed the process of working on this song together, and it was something we wanted to continue to do as time goes. I was really excited to bring @mikesemesky onboard for vocals because it's always an absolute pleasure working with him on music.
Silis is a studio project and will remain a studio project. We're all involved with so many musical endeavors and do different things in life. So it's not a full-time commitment for any of us. We do want to continue writing music together, and we're going to work on more material whenever possible.

God damn that was so satisfying to watch. I appreciate you showing the “outtakes” at the end. It’s good to throw us off the robot scent once in awhile 😜
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate the kind words. And yes, gotta keep it real... \m/
Yesssss! I missed Mike's vocals since he left Intervals. You two are a good fit and pumped for more tunes...don't wait too long pl0x
for real! Loved "Illuminate" so much with his vocals
Thanks a lot! I'm definitely excited to be working with Mike again. I'm going to have him on my next solo EP as well.
Brooooo same. I thought intervals was perfect with that lineup. Mike & Anup just works. Great track!

holy shit, that kick skips my ears and hits directly the brain!
haha! Sick! Thanks!
I can't wait to learn more about how you record your drums man. I still listen to that first Intervals album, it's a classic! Love Illuminate too, that's my jam. Keep making awesome music!
Awesome as usual brother 💥
Defines VERBATIM in sound ....!!!!! Killer hardware & perfect acoustics...
Sound, mix and playing style.. gotta love this man! Hands down mister!
Is the left Pure Alloy crash cracked? It's got an extra sizzle... Hahah :D
I remember a time when it seemed like Gene Hoglan was in literally every metal band, possibly simultaneously.
Is there any way you could pull that off now? You know, just be in every band that doesn't suck for the next decade. It would certainly make music a little better. Thanks in advance.
Siiiick. You're still improving man. So good on this song.
Amazing job Anup 🤩. take a look at "Good Tiger - Salt Of The Eart", if you like it, play for us. Thanks!
Amazing sound!! Snare crack lit up my headphones🤪🤘🏼
Cool of you to explain details of working with other artists. Helps us out to hear how you juggle so much, cheers🍻
My god the China sounds so DELICIOUS.
Impressive drumming Sir!!! 😊🥁🇵🇭
Hey Anup.
Something to consider, i personally wish you'd go back to your old drum sound a bit. I wish you'd tune down that snare, or whip out the Brass Starphonic and then throw some clear heads on those toms!
Hah, dont hate me!
Hi! It's been a long time since your new stories have been released! I like the way you play the dude drum kit, thank you for this drive
great use of your cymbals. Inspiring!
awesome video as always, thanks for cutting in the bloopers, always helps to accept the own failures to see that happening on your level too!
Can't wait to hear more from this group! Outstanding.
Thank you! \m/
One word:
Dude-you're-fucking-awesome
Dude you are hella sick. Been a fan for years.
Limitless!!!!
You been tinkering with these shells Anup? They crisp af in this vid - sounding the best they've sounded...
Thanks a lot! Tinkering and tweaking constantly.
Yes dude, awesome cover! 🤘
The struggle in the last minute... I know it all too well!
Anup’s snare smacks harder than any mom
Where you been bro? Working on something?
Pause right at 1:28 That is the face of a drummer right there
Aaaaaannnup
Wa
Saaaap
The section from 1:59 to around 2:25 is just insane! That drum roll, the ghost notes, this china sound... Massive!!
The drum track fits the song really well and we can really feel the energy from the performance.
Thats a lotta mics. I have no money!
When are you and the wife doing another tune
Damn this looks fun to play
The sound and mix of these drums are out of this world!
Thanks a lot! \m/
I could be wrong but I am 95% sure this is triggers and samples.
@@nathanel2306 Nope. All natural drums. \m/
@@asdrummer2008 I stand corrected. Nice mix!
@@nathanel2306 Thanks!!!
Vídeo of siren sound? WH?
excellent playing as usual. Love the energy.
Wow
No complaints at all but why 3 different bass mics? Im looking into doing more videos myself and looking for different ideas. Bang on bruh!
I like having the option to blend between the three. I might actually go back to only using two, but this is the current phase I've been rolling with. \m/
hey man your amazing
Out of curiosity how long does it take to upload a cover like this? Total time including filming, recording, restarting, editing
Depending on complexity, it usually takes anywhere from 3 - 7 days to learn a song. Usually just a full day to set up and film, and usually another fully day to mix the audio and edit the video. Posting on social media also takes time as well because you need different cuts for different platforms, and tagging people properly, hashtags, what to say, where to link, etc etc. So on average, anywhere from 5 - 10 days. I usually try and clump as many videos as possible. So I'll rehearse maybe 5 - 15 songs, and then track videos for all of them in one go. This way, I 'attempt' to stay ahead of things. It doesn't always work out like that, but I try...!
i miss the scream at the end :P
that snare be poppin
Groovy dude
that snare dude
Bought some of your signature sticks and now I know how you hit so hard. They’re nice, gotta get used to heavier bois again. Been using what I assume are 5a for a hot minute ha
Thanks for picking up a pair! I hope you like them. Definitely on the larger end for sticks on kit.
PUNCHY
Beast
That was damn sick Anup, mix and playing are bomb as always!
So SICK!!
Thanks a lot man! \m/
❤️❤️ sir ji u r my inspiration ❤️❤️
Love from Kolkata ❤️❤️
Want to have some great chat with you ....
First I’ve hear of RS drums, bought immediately 🤤 so so awesome
Wow. The playing and the sound. Perfect.
Anup Sir.... this is so damn good!! Much respect 😀
3 people are the dark that the light is coming to find. This is dope!
I want every mixer to have a "Sastry" knob that you can turn to 11.
That cymbal mute was so tidy haha, 2:10 Love it. Great play through as always.
Sounding great and looking real good!!! The ending is so relatable too hahaha
So good man! :D
Awesome as usual 🤘😎 Love the 1/8th snare tension adjustment during the small interval 👍🏻
Snare tuning always goes all over the place for me. Always a battle trying to keep it consistent for each take. \m/
these playthroughs are one of the most satisfying to watch man! the Sound and mix is so tight. I feel that every stroke and every single cymbal is sitting so perfectly well in the music and mix. Thanks for another Video!
Thanks a lot for the kind words! Glad you dig em. \m/
Insane Anup! Your snare keeps sounding better & better... Somehow. Well done brother 💯 This is Abel Hernandez band right?
Thanks a lot! Just got lucky that day... \m/
First 💥
Good to see another video! 🤘
So sick Anup! Your drumming is always so fun to watch :D
Thanks a lot Sean! Looking forward to getting your song finished up. \m/
Sick!🤟🥁
Awesome play through, and your outtakes keep me sane.
Thanks for watching the outtakes! \m/
In love with that snare tone! So crisp and crunchy!
Thank you! \m/
Insane!!
Question sir, is there any particular reason you use 20 inch rides over other sizes? I think I've seen you play either a 21 or 22 inch in some or your older videos. Just wondering is all, this video is sick and you're such an amazing drummer keep on rocking dude!
Mainly just for fitment/positioning on the kit. It hovers so close over my 12" rack tom. If I did use a slightly larger ride, the bell would have to be farther away for the cymbal to sit comfortably over my 12" rack tom. So 20" rides just feel better for positioning.
@@asdrummer2008 thanks for the response dude, that makes sense!
Snoop and Semesky, back at it again. Makes me smile. Cannot wait to hear more!!! Your drums are sounding unreal dude
Thanks a lot! Love working with Mike. \m/
