  • After moving across the country, I though it'd be fun to take you guys with me while I work on a couple house projects to add the finishing touches to our new space! In this video, I'm sewing a shower curtain out of this BEAUTIFUL drapey watercolor abstract print cotton canvas.
    I'll be sure to get back into garment making soon, but keep your eyes peeled for a couple more home projects as well!

    Rachel! You're my sewing buddy. I'm a med student with extra time in my 4th year and took up sewing as a new fun hobby. Love your style and I've been watching your videos. Have made the Hallon dress and now working on the Sicily slip dress. Now, I want to make a shower curtain! Hope to see more of your homemade garments. What I like most about your videos is that you are so transparent about your learning process, when you mess up and need to seam rip or when you sewed something in the wrong way and need to re-do it. Makes me feel better when I am sitting her seam ripping when I mess up. Just wanted to encourage your craft and let you know that you are inspiring others and hope to see more videos from you!

      Thank you so much!! ☺️
      I’m so happy to hear you’ve tried a couple of my very favorite patterns! I have three Hallon dresses now, and I feel like I need four more so I have one for every day of the week! It makes me so happy to hear my videos have inspired you and reminded you that sewing mistakes are inevitable. As a beginner, I need my seam ripper constantly, but I also really don’t see that changing even as I get more experience over the years!
      I’m so impressed you manage to find time during med school to sew! That’s amazing!

    I love your channel!!!! Just use your shower curtain liner as a guide for your button holes. I did this and it worked out perfect.

    The shower curtain looks great! Good idea going with a flat fell seam, it looks so professional and will be really durable. You're so right about how the colour scheme ties together the warm and cool tones.
    After you cut off the existing buttonholes (if you decide down the track that it does bother you), you could add a facing to the top, rather than folding the curtain down twice, so that you don't lose as much length. Since it'd end up on the wrong side, you wouldn't need to use matching fabric for the facing. If you were desperate to maintain as much length as possible, you could seam rip the existing hem at the bottom, and re-hem using a hem facing there too.

      Hello!!
      Thanks so much! 💕
      Wow I never thought of adding facings, even for hems on pants! That’s so helpful! I’ll probably end up doing that, thank you!!

    I was one of those that found you through that “everything I’ve made” video and I’ve loved watching your videos since! I was inspired to finally start sewing (after years of wanting to learn but never going for it!) I’ve had a lot of fun with it and I really enjoy your videos. I also have a little girl (I think close to your daughters age, mine’s 2) so I love the pieces you make for her and how special that is for her ❤ also yes to a Q&A!

    Thanks for taking us along! I do enjoy these videos.
    Hopefully the print will be visible on childrens' clothes, it is kind of on the large side.

    Love the way it turned out! The fabric is so lovely and looks great in the bathroom.
    Next time you can use another curtain or liner as the template for where the buttons are supposed to go.

    You could have added fabric you liked to the bottom of the pink to make it longer. I was thinking "she should measure for the button holes, lol. Nice job though.

    • @madewithrach
      @madewithrach  8 місяців тому +1

      I definitely thought about adding fabric too, but couldnt think of what I would want to put with the pink!
      Oof yes, I totally should've measured he button holes. haha I'm planning on fixing them within the next couple weeks, because they're already bothering me!

      @madewithrach  9 місяців тому

      I still feel like I’m primarily following tutorials at this point! 🙈 Since I’m still a beginner, I feel like I’m not quite qualified to offer tutorials, but maybe I am?! Are there certain skills you want to learn? Maybe I could make a couple shorts if they’re things I feel like I have down!

    With your pink shower curtain…why don’t you just add a cool added “hem” to make it longer?
