Time saving tip for changing the thread on your serger; cut the thread close to the cone, replace with new color and knot it to the threads you cut. Put the tension on 0 across and hand-crank until you get the new color on the other end (be careful when the knots from the left 2 threads reach the needles as they do not always want to go through)
Wow! Amazing job! I’m binging your videos and have loved each one. I admire how productive you are- you just casually sneak in all of the extra versions you make 😆 and I REALLY appreciate how you talk about when you’re able to sew and how long you have / how long each step takes. It makes sewing as a mom seem much less daunting!! Thanks for bringing us along and sharing such *cool* videos 😜 God bless!
Thank you so much!! 💕 It definitely feels like I'm juggling sometimes, but its so worth it! If I didn't enjoy sewing so much, there's no way I'd have the motivation to sneak it in whenever I can, so I guess I'm just trying to keep my momentum so I can keep this thing going! haha It's been so great to have something like this for myself, because it's sooo easy as a mom to kind of neglect your own interests while taking care of others needs! I feel like I'm only able to be the best version of myself when I have a creative outlet, so it ends up being better for the whole family too! 😊 I hope you can find time to do the same too! Even if its just for 20 minutes here and an hour there. Thanks so much for watching!
Your videos are so cozy & chill. 😊 They're my favorite at the moment. (I am so much the opposite & wish I had more calm.) The set is incredible & I love those little moments of "I've never done that before, I am proud of myself". We all need more of that. And to be as kind to ourselves. 🤗
Oh thank you so much!! That makes me so happy to hear!! ☺️ I love trying new things, and don’t have any problem messing up the first few times around. It’s just part of learning!
I love how it turned out! I'm gonna make my own pattern based on how yours looks. So beautiful. And I love how you styled it in so many ways. The pocket was also a giid idea 😍 thanks for the inspo!
Thanks so much!! I love this set and wear it all the time! That’s amazing you can make your own patterns. I’d love to learn how to do that someday! I hope you love how yours turns out!
Thank you for another engaging and enthusiastic video and for sharing your beautiful makes! I particularly like that you explained some of your sewing techniques (interfacing the buttonholes on the waistband of the pants, for example) so that newer sewists can learn from you. You are a ray of sunshine. ❤
Love watching your videos and seeing your creations come to life. Just a tip for your serger instead of do the entire rethread you can tie your new thread colour to the one already threaded then run the serger until the knots are at your needles, then snip and thread the needles only😊
I finally got some clothes and etc washed. It makes a big difference. I really enjoy watching these videos and like the things that you make. It'll be nice to see how they came out
I love the pre-planning of using the cotton thread in case you want to dye it. Brilliant! I'm curious - who are your "must watch" sewing channels on UA-cam?
Love this set so much, comfy cozy chic! 😍 Well done, admirable how accurate and crisp your cuffs and collar turn out - i can't sew this stuff not yet 😅
Thank you!! Those are the most satisfying parts for me too! I bet if you give it a try, you'd surprise yourself. It's fun to try intimidating projects I feel ~unqualified~ for because it reminds me that as long as I can follow the directions and take my time, things usually work out! I think you could totally do the same! It could open a door to so many projects you never though you'd tackle!
I really love what you made Linen set!! It look so comfortable and good on you 👍🏻 I usually make linen dresses, but I want to try pants too.I love your outfit❤
Thanks so much! I’m so happy you’re feeling encouraged! I’d love to learn how to knit someday, but worry I don’t have the patience. That’s amazing you can do both!
The set looks fab on you.The pocket and covered buttons definitely made a difference to the look of the blouse. Even though you found them on different channels I would love to know how you opened your overlocking thread and how you did the circle hem .Your daughters outfit looks so cute.
Thank you!! I’m so happy the cover buttons were worth it! I’m sure I’ll have to pick out a serged seam again at some point, so I’ll make sure to include that as well as doing the curved hem in a future video!
So, for the cotton thread on the serger, I saw a hack on TT on how to have the same color on all 4 threads. Use bobbins; you would have fill 4 bobbins with your cotton thread and thread them through. I've never used it, but it came to mind when you said you had a hard time finding the cotton thread cones.
oh I'm soooo glad you posted this, I'm about to finally tackle this shirt! yours looks SO great with those pants & I love how you've edited both pieces.. will be copying you as much as my abilities allow lol
Love the way it turned out. 🎉 it’s so classic ❤ I also appreciate the styling at the end, what is your body type? The oversized shirt looks amazing on you ❤
Thank you!! ☺️ I’m pretty confident that I fall within the kibbe natural family. I know he eliminated pure natural, but that’s where I feel like I would fit best! I don’t think I’m quite tall (looking) enough to be FN, and I definitely don’t have the curve or softness of an SN. If I had to pick between the two, it’d be FN, but those lines can swallow me up a bit if I’m not careful. I love oversized tops though, and being frame dominant makes it easier to wear those styles!
Thanks! I added about an inch of length just to suit my proportions, and when I was cutting out the pattern, I cut halfway between the wide leg and standard leg versions!
Your videos are always worth the wait. Happy to see whatever you've made, even if it is out of season for some of us. Personally, I'm not interested in tiktok; I love more substantial and detailed nature of long-form UA-cam videos. This set turned out so great; it looks really high-end with the covered buttons. And I loved seeing you style it into lots of outfits. They are both really useful pieces. Love the cosy one too.
Thanks so much! I agree about the long form content! I know so many people love short-form, but I love listening to long-winded chats. Happy to hear you enjoy that too! ☺️
I don’t remember the specific video. I think it was just a short or a TikTok! If I see a similar one, I’ll try to get you a link. Basically, if you do a stitch 1/4” away from the edge and then fold and press right on the seam to hem, it cooperates a lot better! So I did a stitch, fold/press, stitch, fold/press, and then the final hem stitch!
Thanks so much!! I’m not an expert in color analysis, but from what I’ve read about it, people with medium skin tones can fall into any of the color seasons! It really depends on your specific undertone, chroma, and contrast. If you’re unsure, draping is the best way to see what colors make your features pop and your skin glow! Thanks for watching!
@@madewithrach Please make a video on this topic so it will helpful because I have seen your one video in that you explain why you choose the color of that season. I really like that video . 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I could definitely try! I made that orange shirt 7 years ago, so I can’t really remember what measurements were taken, if any! 😂 I may have just eyeballed it, but I’ll try to take some measurements now and see if I can explain it well!
Haha I WISH! I didn’t know that hack until after I spent all summer trying to become pro at re-threading! 😂 I still haven’t had the chance to use it since I haven’t switched colors yet, but I will, and I’ll feel so efficient and accomplished when I do! Haha
very beautiful video very nice sewing skills for the next sewing video please don't be afraid to film operating the sewing machine electric foot pedal being used by foot to sew please ok?thank you very much and have a beautiful day 😊
I’m 167 cm! If you’re worried they won’t be long enough, I’d measure from where you’d like them to sit on your waist to the floor, and then make sure to account for the waistband and hem!
hello Rachel can you please kindly film threading the sewing machine and winding the bobbin and please kindly film operating the sewing machine electric foot pedal being used to sew please kindly let me know ok?thank you very much 😊
Wow the different ways to style just a two piece sew is such great motivation for me to make a set myself :)
Keep up the good work, I started sewing at 15plus and I am now 60. Your ideas are very creative.
Thanks so much! That’s so amazing, I hope to still be sewing decades from now as well!
Time saving tip for changing the thread on your serger; cut the thread close to the cone, replace with new color and knot it to the threads you cut. Put the tension on 0 across and hand-crank until you get the new color on the other end (be careful when the knots from the left 2 threads reach the needles as they do not always want to go through)
Thank you!! I’ve seen this trick (unfortunately, after I spent forever rethreading) but didn’t know to hand crank! Very helpful! ☺️
I was going to say this very thing, I hope you never unthread your machine!
What a great set. These looks fabulous and loved how you styled it. Love the oversized shirt and the linen fabric is great. I need one in my life ❤

What did you do before you sewed the bottom hem on your shirt? Love your shirt and pants
Nice finishes!
Thanks!!
Beautiful

Hi Rachel! Did you end up making any modifications to the leg of the pants? I love to way it fits!
Thanks!

Girl! Did you clip your tan lines and tie in the white or actually rethread? If you just chopped it loose I’m your new bestie, lol.
Haha I WISH! I didn’t know that hack until after I spent all summer trying to become pro at re-threading! 😂
