A long time ago, around 06-08, a really dear friend recommended breaking Benjamin to me, and diary of Jane was the first song of theirs he had me listen to. They ended up becoming a band I love, I still have a lot of their songs on my MP3 player, they were a big part of what shaped my taste in music. That friend passed away in February, and I always think of him when I hear diary of Jane, so I’d like to say thank you, first to eleven, for making an amazing cover of it, you’re awesome
It's almost like my story, except my friend is still alive but didn't see him since 2010 when we finished college. I still think of him too whenever I hear this song.

Definitely have my main complaint use to be the lack of emotion and how her notes just seemed very flat. She's definitely improved in that aspect

Breaking Benjamin is hands down my favorite band, their songs helped me get through a lot of hard times. Bens vocals just hit different, but these covers with female vocals are pretty well done and good in their own right.

There's a rawness in the second chorus that I really love and I feel has been missing in rock covers up until this one. This song has earned a place in my playlist.
Honestly thought this wasn't going to sounds right since Benjamin Burnley's voice is so tied to this song mentally for me.. but you killed it.
Yeah it's always going to be difficult for anyone to emulate it with his gravelly voice in this song. Good effort though nonetheless

@@Phleanix Yeah, it's typically odd when songs are sung with a different type of voice (not just male to female, but also Benjamin has gravely voice), but this one worked so well.
Absolutely correct
This is the first rock song in which I’ve been genuinely impressed with Audra’s rendition. A lot of the time, when she sings a male lead song in the genre, she goes low and plays safe, but I heard a lot of growl and pitch changes that made it sound really good.
It’s super hard to emulate this song, especially for someone who doesn’t normally growl and never screams(thus, not being used to making sounds like that), so to pull this song off *so freaking well* makes it beyond impressive for me.
I don't think she does the growls 🤔 I think it's one of the other guys 🤔
I've watched almost almost all of First to Eleven's covers and have been impressed by 90% of their renditions. Burnley used vocal finesse to set himself apart from the pack--a gimmick--and it worked. Fto11's cover is a worthy endeavor, just like most of her--and her band's--work.

"How's It Going to Be" by Third Eye Blind would be in another great cover--probably in spring 2021 or so, given the backlog of great stuff.

i like how their covers stay true to the original but still add their own flair and their own way of playing certain parts. plus the whole band seems so humble and sweet (just based off that outro!)

I've realised the difference between the original one (after 3 months). The intro is much more different and the music is a little bit crunchier. Both versions are perfect but I'd also appreciate you that you reflected your style successfully.
I'm impressed by how many songs the musicians have learned.
So I catch these covers every now and again and sometimes I go "yeah did pretty good" and occasionally I fall flat on my arse out of my seat with my mind blown, as a Breaking Benjamin fan of now 16 years I can say with decent confidence this is easily in my top 3 The Diary Of Jane covers, this is an absolute masterpiece!
When i heard Matt’s guitar intro i was drawn from the start then i heard Audra sing the first then i thought myself “i’m in for a real show.” Sam’s drum beats and Ryan’s Bass rhythm were on point as always. Breaking Benjamin is one of my all time favorite bands, use to listen to them in high school. You guys did amazing with this cover, great job.
Don't know if I ever heard a cover of this song that I liked better than the original, but this cover is the best of them. And not just the vocalist, but the band itself is phenomenal! I've watched a few of their other covers and originals and think this is a very talented group.
