Lisa, what a beautiful tribute to your mom. I didn’t know she had been your first teacher. Of course she was proud of you and no doubt in awe when you progressed so far from those early times. I also lost my dad last October. People asked me how I could play at his funeral (which was in Ohio). My reaction: how could I not? It’s the way we musicians best express our deepest emotions.
