The Flareside has plenty of features including a 5.8 Litre V-8 engine that can be built stock or custom. Additional features include a custom roll bar with an optional off-road light bar, a custom set of chrome bed rails, deep dish aluminum wheels, your choice of manual or power side mirrors, and an ALL-NEW set of water-slide decals with colorful options to bring your Flareside to life. Wrapped up nicely in eye-catching AMT packaging.

The ninth generation of the Ford F-Series is a lineup of trucks that were produced by Ford from the 1992 to 1998 model years. The final generation of the F-Series to include a complete range of trucks from a half-ton F-150 pickup truck to a medium-duty F-800 commercial truck, this is the third generation of the F-Series body and chassis introduced for 1980.
To improve the aerodynamics of the exterior, the front fascia underwent a substantial revision to its design. The Flareside bed design made its return, following a substantial change in its design.
In 1996, the tenth-generation F-Series was released (including the F-150) for the 1997 model year. The ninth-generation F-250 and F-350 remained in production through the 1997 and 1998 model years, respectively.[2] For 1999, the heavier-duty model lines were replaced by Ford Super Duty trucks, a brand also adopted for Ford medium-duty trucks.
Trims
Custom (1992 only) - Included: Cargo box light, tinted glass, argent grille, steel wheels with hubcaps, color-keyed floormats, an AM radio with digital clock and two speakers (which may be deleted for credit), vinyl bench seat, and voltmeter, oil pressure, and temperature gauges.
Special (1995-1996; F-150 only) - same as Custom.
XL (1992-1997) - Added: argent steel wheels, air conditioning, a cloth bench seat, and a rear bench on the SuperCab only.
XLT (1992-1997) - Added: Black rub strip, chrome grille, deep-dish aluminum wheels, carpeted map pockets, an AM/FM stereo with digital clock and two speakers, and a cloth and vinyl bench seat.
Nite (1992 only) - Added: cloth flight bench with power lumbar, sliding rear window, aluminum deep dish wheels.
SVT Lightning (1993-1995) - Added (from XLT trim): 5-spoke aluminum rims, an AM/FM stereo with cassette player, digital clock and four speakers, power windows and locks, and air conditioning.
Eddie Bauer (1995-1996, F-150 only) - Added (from XLT trim): slotted front bumper, Eddie Bauer floor mats, rear privacy glass (SuperCab models), convertible console seat, power mirrors, two-tone exterior paint, and forged aluminum deep-dish wheels.
F-150: 1/2 ton (6,250 lb GVWR max)
F-250 (light-duty): 1992-1996 3/4 ton (6,600 lb GVWR max) (2WD Regular Cab only)
F-250 HD: 1992-1997 3/4 ton (8,800 lb GVWR max)
F-350: 1 ton (9,200 lb GVWR max on SRW pickups; 10,000 lb GVWR max on DRW pickups; 11,000 lb GVWR max on chassis cab models)
F-Super Duty (chassis cab model only): 1 1/2 ton and greater (15,000 lb GVWR max)
Revolver wheels had holes that represented the bullet carriers of a revolving six shooter. But the TWELVE holes just made the revolver wheels twice as good. This truck was a stunner in '92. It finally made Pick Up Trucks "respectable" and desirable. Nice choice for a Wednesday build. Thanks Chris. BTW, your dad had good taste !
We had the '92 in Australia, but only as a long box. But we only had Australian made engine here, no 300 six we had 250 six with cross flow head. We had 2 V8 options, we had a 302 Cleveland and a 351 Cleveland here. No that's not a misprint, when Cleveland production stopped in the US, Australia picked up the tooling. We adapted it to suit our needs, even sold motors to Dtomaso in Italy for the Pantera. There's way more stuff out there that more knowledgeable people can explain.

I bought a '96 also.... It rusted out real quick... I had to scrap it with 75,000 miles on the clock....😣😖😠

I had a 91 F-150 ( XLT ) I think, but it had a 351 in it, Windsor I believe, and a longbed or longbox, whatever. The bed on it was a rust bucket, well over the fenderwells, that was the worst rust the rest of it wasn't too bad, that was my scrapping/junking truck or rather one of the many different trucks I had for scrapping.
When I was 19 I had a black 95 Lightning best truck Ford ever built
Memories! The short box version of this kit (which I think has since come back as the 1993 high performance Lightning) was the very first AMT/Ertl model kit I ever bought in November 1993. I loved all the custom options in it for the engine as well as the bed, including a net for the tailgate which I don't see in this one, along with a visor with clearance lights for the cab and another bar for the bed as well as a full body kit. The directional wheels were Budnik wheels according to that kit. Would definitely buy it again and there was also a Chevy truck from that era with the same 3 n' 1 configuration.

I had a 92 f -150xlt long Ed and a v8 midnight blue just under doors height with kinda rally blue over the rest of the body. Was a solid great running truck paid 3000.00 for it and sold it to my late brother in law for 2650.00 I believe in 2022 b 4 his passing

Love your work sir. I didnt want to be the guy but the drivers side b pillar has a major run. Technically 2 one on door and then just behind. That grey was the perfect color for that truck.

Hi there Chris long plastic is a stone cover stop stones hitting the bonnet mate damage the paint on f 100 . Yes I like from 57 right through though to 90s models

That is one sharp F150 Chris! Love the metallic dark grey! My second truck was a ‘92 F150 XLT extended cab 7 ft bed with matching camper shell and 302 V8! The color scheme was a two tone metallic brown and light brown! Loved that truck!
Interesting seeing this body styling as 1992. I was very young then, but had always thought it was 1993 when the design came out. Though looking at old Handyman adverts, late 1992. I never cared much for the sport/flare style bed, but this model range (1992.5-1996, 1997 on F250-350 only) is very nostalgic for me. Gunna have to pick up one of these kits now! The lightning model was also awesome!

Cheap dollar store super glue works well to attach the final parts.
These are awesome kits! I think I built all versions of it when they were first released. Round 2 re released the Lightning version recently. Moebius has a 300 6 cylinder in some of their Ford truck kits if anyone wanted to swap it into this.
