Hey man, sometimes you just gotta tinker with the tanks gnaw mean. But you’re right these filters really gotta be cleaned regularly to avoid sky high nitrates, one reason I’ve been tempted to go with a sump too. I clean mine weekly. Keep the eel!! You’re right about the colors man it’s beautiful and sounds like you’re really enjoying it.
I agree with you on the fluval fx6. GREAT filter. But you need to keep up with Maintenace. Me not knowing much about canisters, I didn't clean it as often as I should it built up nitrites and ammonia and killed almost my entire tank. I decided then and there that canisters weren't for me. I still swear by hob filters and manual water changes.
When I disconnect the hoses from the fx6 i like to put a bucket underneath after removing the filter to drain out the hoses.that way when you plug it back in all the crap that was in the hose doesnt go back into the tank.
Keep the fire eel. I really want to try the fx6, but don't want to pay that price without knowing if I will like it or not. I have a 75 with live plants and stocked with angelfish, discus, Cory's, tetras, and small plecos.
It's not the canister filters, it's your cleaning habits. I have 2 fluval FX6 canister filters on my 125 gallon saltwater tank and replace all media every 3 months only....and they aren't even that dirty. You also shouldn't be using canister for bio filters ,so you can clean them all at once.
I don’t think you’re seeing the point of the video. Let me explain.. the point of the video is that people will hate on canister filters claiming they are nitrate factories without doing the cleaning. If you watch the entire video, I explain how I thoroughly clean the filtration extremely regularly, due to the bio load of my fish. The point of the video is not hating on the FX6, or canister filters in general, it’s that you need to maintain and clean them regularly for them to continue on being successful. Believe it or not, I do know what I’m doing 😂
Keep the fire eel!!!!!!
Man braddah so sorry about the car situation damn that sucks FAAAAAAAAK!!🤙🏽💯💪🏽

Yeah haven't had an fx6 yet. Been drooling over them but also wondering about just using 3 hob 110s for a 125g or 180g
Awesome video which one you prefer a canister filter or a sump ?
Depends on the aquarium. For 125+ I’d prefer a sump.
@@aquarium.talktv thank you

So sorry about your car and camera, man. Good video, still. Keep that fire eel, bro.
Thanks dude
I currently have 2 sunsuns but have a brand new FX6 im gonna hook up just need a few more PVC fittings to hard plumb it in

I’ve done that a few times. It annoys me. Less work the better 😂

I just subscribed like the way you clean out your FX6. I think I am going to do mine like you did. Also keep the fire eel and name him Mr Fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for subbing to the channel!! Mr. Fire… I like it. We will see. It’s definitely a big contender!!!! I appreciate the support!!
You can call your eel Bob.
It’s a simple name to use.
