"English is a language that chases other languages down alleys and rifles their pockets for spare vocabulary." You're not alone in finding English confusing. Even native speakers have trouble.
One of the toughest scenarios and you managed to even get the bonus objective?! That is amazing indeed. If you ever decide to do replays for getting all bonus objectives, I'd be sure to watch them.
11:20 My Park just got an off season, that’s why I had to close the park. Then you have the time for maintenance and so on. Nooo I didn’t do that for the money.
Honestly I’ve struggled so much with this scenario, because guest stay for months and never return once they leave, so you are always building new coasters and rides. But hey I had fun seeing how you did it.
Doing a full "no coasters" playthrough, this was definitely quite a long scenario. Had to do a lot of shop choke points to nickel and dime the customers.
Was looking forward to seeing how you tackled this scenario! I had to try it twice, but had fun playing around with a 'jellybean house' style of harbour town in my successful playthrough. The tried and true method of: build high-intensity coasters and jack up the entrance fee seems to work well as an initial cash flow (and keeping guests from turning into vandals from complaining about not having applicable rides). Another way of sustaining your income afterwards is cranking up the prices of food, drinks, and souvenirs in the stalls.
my favorite scenarios are any map that includes a coastline. from the days of Bumbly Beach in Rollercoaster Tycoon to now, I just love building an expansive boardwalk water park over the ocean which connects to the amusement park on land.
Your park was so gorgeous, it just made mine look like sh.t 🤣🤣. I'll just take some inspiration watching this and I'll try to improve my parks from now on. Thanks!
Hooray! New Parkitect vid! I loved how you got so much in the park but everything still has room to breathe! Mine was super cramped and ugly. This was a hard one! I will try again. I can't wait to see your next videos! :)
I couldn’t wait at some point so I took the liberty of just finishing my campaign. But I find it super fun how different we do things. Mine has a more Caribbean feel for this one. With colored houses like Oranjestad in Aruba. I really thought might do that as well. But your creativity is vast. Really cool to watch!
In the USA, the most common name for the twister-type ride in this game is called the "Scrambler" which is the ride model made by the US ride manufacturer Eli Bridge. Many, many parks and carnivals over here have this ride. So I'm guessing that when the original RCT was made, they used the placeholder name of "Scrambled Eggs" to avoid trademark/copyright issues.
Didn't know that, but that totally makes sense. Come think of it, the ride is only known as "Scrambled Eggs" in the US, in the UK it was the "twist" - so it definitely seems like they were trying for some cultural name recognition there!
I'm watching the video and hear at the beginning of it: "I'm gonna make the wooden coaster first as a moneymaker". and me just saying: "oh poor Silvarret, he hasn't figured out yet that all rides are free" lol Oh.. well my thoughts on your park, I think you should make a Log Flume. They are super popular in this scenario because of the heat, and I don't see benches on the end of the park (where deliveries building is), and you need at least 2 staff rooms, is way too far from the entrance, you can keep the area clean with only 3-4 janitors
Reaching time goals becomes easier towards the latter part of the campaign imo, because the time goals are more generous. 3 years becomes pretty common from now on, and one scenario even gives you 5. So there will be more opportunities to get your party hat out. Or it's just because I got better as I progressed through the campaign. Either way, good park as always.
Biscayne Beach was my least favorite scenario. As someone who's used pay-per-ride on every single scenario up to this point, Biscayne Beach was a huge pain. At first I was nearly bankrupt, which I took two loans to fix - I built two Exciting coasters and some other flat rides - and then the next problem was that I wasn't charging as much for admission as I possibly could. I thought that if I raised the admission price from $25 the Satisfaction rating would go down and the guests would be unhappier. This was actually the opposite; the Satisfaction rating went up, and I gained +4,000 in the first month of charging $60 for admission. However, the next few months left my income to slump at a consistent -100 per month; I was hovering around 580 guests and with no other options and a few thousand in the bank I built a Double Ferris Wheel. This pushed me over the guest goal and I won the scenario. Normally, after completing a scenario's goals, I'll try and use up all the possible land (including purchasable land) for fun; but with Biscayne Beach, I refused to do this as it would be impossible with only $2,000 to spare.
I just love how beautiful you can make Parkitect, I think the buildings and stuff arnt as good and planet coaster but it’s easy, Planet Coaster is very fun but harded
This scenario was so freaking hard! Not being able to charge for rides was a nightmare. I narrowly managed to hold 600 guests for a month, and won the scenario. Funny thing is I went bankrupt shortly afterwards. Well, doesn't matter, at least I won the scenario, lol.
For the experiences rating the only way you can really "increase" it without using the closing the park exploit is by removing the guests of all their money, but even on a per-ride charge basis it guests can spend upwards of 1.5 in-game years in the park and still have enough money to ride your biggest ride one more time.
To get your experiance rating up, you could also start a campaign for the park. It boosts the visitors over a period of time, but after that, the visitor number drops again. I would consider this a legit way to get rid of all the "older" park guests and to make some more money.
As you can see, pay-per-entrance is not necessarily more difficult than pay-per-ride. You get lots of money up front, which allows you to build more rides, which pull in more people, making even more money. This means that investments pay off *very* quickly. Notice at around 13:30, you have some $12,000 in the bank (October Year 1), and you start losing money after the initial burst of guests. You then build a Mini Coaster, a Skyfall and a Carousel, spending around $6000 or so until 15:50 (March Year 2). By 16:40 (May Year 2) you've made back $12,000 from that investment, and the April profits *alone* are more than you spent on the three rides. Because every new guest you attract to the park isn't going to stand in line to pay $5 to ride a flat ride, they pay $60 and then go to get a park map or a souvenir or something. Pay-per-entrance makes most scenarios quite a bit easier, since you get into this positive feedback loop of attracting guests - making money - building rides - attracting guests. If you ever struggle in a scenario, try it out. It trivializes challenging scenarios such as Orchard Acres or Kaiserberg, for instance.
They're called Scramblers in real life. CS wasn't allowed to use trademarks on American rides, hence things like the Whoa Belly and the Scrambled Eggs.
Biscayne Beach is hella easy, just build until your money runs dry, open the park, let everyone enjoy themselves for a while, close and reopen (with a huge entry fee, because you can). ez pz lemon squeezy Oh wait you mention this. Oh well my huge problem with this scenario was the lack of good thrill rides! okay now let's watch the video Wait? a toilet right from the start???
Oh, thanks for pointing that out, I missed it during editing. Unfortunately it was a recording issue, not a rendering one - and I don't have an old save - so there's not much I can do about it :/
English speakers hate English too. The word, “cay,” comes from the Spanish word, “cayo,” meaning, “small island.” It gets really confusing when people spell it, “quay,” like in Cities: Skylines. That spelling comes from the French word, “kai,” meaning, “sand bank.” We also have islands off the southern tip of Florida called, “The Keys.” It’s a wonder our language works at all.
Love the park! Too bad Parkitect or Planet Coaster don’t have arcade games and machines to put into the game, it would really make the parks more realistic, especially for those smaller, carnival-style areas.
You know, this would be something really cool for the devs to add in a future update or something. A small DLC to include carnival games and more carnival/festival-esque flat rides. May I remind everybody that that terrible thing called the Zipper exists, or those stationary single looping coaster... things. Y'all know what I mean I think lol
I think maybe I build my parks too compact because a lot of the campaign including this one I only use about 1/2 of the park. This campaign was one of the easier ones for me but I find the big maps insanely hard!!
I was wondering, would you want to start a series where you look at other peoples workshop creations? Maybe like a few every video? Rate them or change something about them. It would be nice to get some decorations tip/help from the king! :D
hmmm the lag spikes at the real time parts are like we say in dutch a "Dikke RIP" seriously though nice park, makes me all fuzzy inside and has me thinking about rct2 :P
Man this puts my Biscayne Beach to shame. This looks great! Would be awesome if you could upload the save or some blueprints. I love the food court building. Also what is your strategy for dealing with Vandals? You never seem to have a problem with them.
Hmm, good idea! I should start uploading more blueprints in general. As for the vandals - I noticed that satisfying guests' demands is key. I got most vandals when I didn't have any thrilling or exciting rides. Also, lots of mechanics and security guards help.
Oh no, the blue yeti is not good. I have the same issue, the mic will just stop being connected randomly. I've spent a long time trying to fix it and never could get it. My only advice is to sell it and get a new microphone. Maybe copy the mics that twitch steamers tend to buy?
Are you sure it's your Blue Yeti and not your recording software you're using? I never had problems with my BY - least of all it stoping the recording. If it stops recording in the BY the red light would start flashing. So maybe look into your editing software? Maybe it goes into a sleep mood after x amount of time?
What I did to make so extra money is place photo moments on the rollercoasters. It's not much, but just a little extra. I don't really know how high I can put the price. I just put it at 3,50.
"Batavia Cay" is pronounced /kei/ ("kay"), though it has the alternative pronunciation /ki:/ ("kee"). People in the comments might have been getting it confused with the word "quay", which is always pronounced /ki:/. So you were pronouncing it right all along!
Ah, nevermind then. Yeah, someone else commented that both pronunciations are acceptable. I think "kay" sounds nicer though. I knew about "quay", although only because I messed that one up in my Cities: Skylines series haha. Ohhh English, if only you were phonetically consistent.
As always a scenario played in a realistic manner. You've built the coasters with a small footprint and based on a specific side of the park. Is it possible in a RL-park to have a coaster who uses the full width of the park? Just keeping some space left in the height of the coaster to get path underneath it. Is that unnatural or could it be possible in a RL-park?
look up Phantasialand in Brühl, Germany. It is known for long rides that span entire themed areas (Black Mamba and Taron come to mind), with the paths going over and under the track.
Thunder Dolphin in Tokyo covers the entire theme park within Tokyo Dome City - its station is on top of a multi storey building, its tallest hills go over a huge indoor section and mall, and it goes through a Ferris wheel. So I'd say yeah, probably :)
In America we say "Key" as spelled "Key" however google said: "Cay, also spelled key, small, low island, usually sandy, situated on a coral reef platform. Such islands are commonly referred to as keys in Florida and parts of the Caribbean. Sand cays are usually built on the edge of the coral platform, opposite the direction from which the prevailing winds blow." So a Key and a Cay (different words of different pronunciation) mean roughly the same thing, but aren't. And the difference in pronunciation and definition seems to be a regional thing.... Classic case of English unnecessarily having multiple words with similar definition. Whether you say "Caye" "Key" or "quay" we know what you mean.
I tried to do an SBF Visa 2-Loop spinning coaster in Maple Meadows; unfortunately, when I used the (Excitement)*(0.20) and round down method, guests complained that it wasn't worth the money so I demolished it.
@@Silvarret That is exactly why I hardly ever build a Junior, Mini or Wild Mouse coaster in scenario play. My trusty go-to's are the Monorail Coaster, Steel Coaster, and Wooden Coaster.
This game is the new best tycoon game in my opinion the scenario’s of planco are short and iT doesnt fit in that game think but in this game iT fits super good
You're not sure how to increase experience, but have hungry and thirsty guests with unstocked shops, some of which have to use the bathroom - in my experience fixing this helps, but let's watch the rest.
@@Silvarret, yes, but when you don't have any attractions there aren't gonna be many guests. But I think you mostly focus on the scenery... and you make it awesome!!!
I’d suggest instead of using a usb mic that you should get a 1 channel interface and a shure sm58 for voice overs, it’ll be more reliable and likely better quality
Probably would have gotten that experiences rating higher faster if you hadn't accidentally opened with no rides for a month or so. Those experience ratings couldn't have helped lol.
I don't think closing and re-opening the park is unrealistic. That's what every real park are doing and people never stay for months in there. Is that an exploit of the game mechanics; maybe, but certainly not unrealistic!
Then again, the time scale is of course totally weird, with guests only able to ride about 2 coasters a month. Either way, I spoke to the devs about it, they might implement something to prevent this loophole from working so well.
Why not use both sides of the road. the wooden coaster turn around isnt the end of the park. You could have had the launch coaster go over the path and do better elements.
I love compact parks. It's like building the park, but playing tetris at the same time

Why do you never pause the game at start of scenarios while you build the first attractions?
Anyway, Love your Parkitect videos.
I just like playing with the park running, seeing guests walking around and riding everything. I'll try the next scenario paused at first, though!
In RCT I always liked areas better, where i could just get money for the entrance, it made me millions :D
Probably would have gotten that experiences rating higher faster if you hadn't accidentally opened with no rides for a month or so. Those experience ratings couldn't have helped lol.
FUCKING FINALLY
needed. this. :)
8:48 Quack
Why not use both sides of the road. the wooden coaster turn around isnt the end of the park. You could have had the launch coaster go over the path and do better elements.
It’s called the scrambler in real life
I believe "cay" is spelled "cay" but pronounced "key" because it's a loanword from french or spanish or some form of creole.
