He was an innovator and a genius. Everybody was amazed and blown away at how Eddie Van Halen played eruption on the record when it came out. He changed guitar playing forever... RIP Eddie
only saw them once, I went to a black sabbath concert at the spectrum in Philly, either 78 or 79, this band called Van Halen opened for them, no stage antics, no flashy outfits, just 4 young dudes that killed it, i remember thinking who the hell are these guys ended up being one of the greatest concerts i ever went to, I got Ozzie, Tony, Geezer, and Bill with Van Halen
I've seen him a lot more than five or six times probably about 50 times in concert he is mesmerizing You can't take your eyes off Eddie there's just no way You don't want to miss one second he is unbelievable the goat I mean come on Eddie Van Halen he will be missed forever he dies of throat cancer because of cigarettes That's fucked up I guess God wanted him watching him play You cry you just cry You're it's you're an amazement because you're watching this guy play this beautiful guitar and he's just kicking ass so you cry because you're touched Well I still do I'm 58 years old I don't care I don't care to admit it I'm fine South Florida here listen to big 105.9
I have a Wolfgang Signature and it’s really a cross between a strat and a les paul if you hold them side by side. Nice guitar, worth every penny, the frankie relic too.

12:15 -- It's the "old man moves" that really kill the spirit for me. The way DLR is moving here (that shuddering, directionless movement) is the spitting image of my GRANDPA 30 years ago when he was in his 70s. This is not the lion-maned king of the jungle that stalked the stage making panties wet in the late 70s. This is a washed up old man.
DLR is a douche bag. I grew up idolising him as the front man, but when he snubbed the Tribute Tour for EDDIE I lost all respect. Sammy was a far more well rounded simger/muso. Edward is a legend. Dave is...pfft.
Yeah. Eddie's solo from 1975. He wasn't that influential because his solos were about sound not emotion. The greatest guitar solos come from the heart and emotion of the guitarist. True Guitaristst are all about. Emotion. Eddie was all about sound. Big difference ..
see these groups dont understand that when we goto concerts to hear these great songs, we want to hear them in original form. not half assed sang or sung. the way we know them to be able to sing along with them. this was david's big problem with van halen that caused the band issues. he did what he wanted. eddie is a perfectionist. trust me after this concert he problably gave it to dave right in his as* for the way he sang this song. I can only imagine how he roasted the rest of the songs. shame. eddies playing is eddies playing but the singing ? cmon now it has to be done right.
I mean it’s ok, not great, but ok, I guess. He must be just starting out, give him some love yall. He’s trying. And that’s the thing about guitar or anything, practice makes better, right?
I am lucky to be named Eddie, born on Eric Clapton's birthday, play guitar like a motherfuker play drums keyboards now some, fiddle, harmonica.. yes I am blessed by God with the gift of music.. it's crazy s***
DLR SUCKS AS A SINGER,HE STINKS,BACK THEN AND EVEN MORE NOW,ONLY THE GREATEST MODERN GUITARIST (EDDIE)IS THE (ONE & ONLY)🎸🎼🎶🎸⭐️! R.I.P.EDDIE ,YOU ARE AND STILL THE BEST🎸!👍✌️😎BOB.
That is totally your opinion I happen to like diamond David Lee Roth I really do You guys can like whoever you like without diamond Dave Van Halen wouldn't be Van Halen enough said
This is what happens to guitarists when they have the ability to play anything. Unfortunately, they end up playing like EV. I love Jimmy Page, but I don't want to play like him.
He got to the point that he stopped creating music and just played the same thing over and over again...his solos were the same....never changed....he was an absolute beast but he reached his peak in the mid 90's
@ I can’t play no where near him. But I can critique. He stopped creating music at the end of the vanhager time frame. It’s not a knock against him, just fact. And listen to his solos from the early 80’s to the end of his life. Same solo. Against just facts…
😂 Because of DLR was so outrageous but calculated This band went to sky rocketed. Without DLR, Van Halen would never achieved that height with their career.
Eddie will forever be missed but through his guitar playing Eddie lives on forever.
What??? Did you ever see him live? WTF?
A pure artist.
As Nikki Sixx said after Eddie passed away - "EVH was the Mozart of the guitar".
Man, this needs to be shared by everybody. I saw him in concert, back in the day five or six times. This is awesome. This is legendary!
He was an innovator and a genius. Everybody was amazed and blown away at how Eddie Van Halen played eruption on the record when it came out.
He changed guitar playing forever... RIP Eddie
Eddie has the most distinctive style sound tone of any guitar player ive ever heard.
how fuckin lucky are we to be alive and have EVH exist amongst us
He passed away but yeah his spirit and music will be here for many generations
😊 Yeah. I'm gawdemn lucky I grow up listing them. So freakin' lucky
Proof that God sends us his best. Long Live Eddie Van Halen
What a talent EVH was. Total command of his instrument.
This MF-er is amazing in his "golden" years! Wow! Blown away! RIP, EDWARD
It's not only artistic but very, very tasteful.
The Ludwig van Beethoven of rock, the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart of guitar...the one, the unique, the irreplaceable: Eddie Van Halen

Always in our heart good old friend. RIP Edward ❤️🎸✝️🎸❤️
Great video 😎
Many guitarists do Eddies tapping technique in different ways but none hit the captivating notes as Eddie did ✨Rest in peace Eddie✨
Thank you! Edward!❤❤❤

Thank you for posting this
🎸 At least I got to see them 8 times RIP VH 🎸
Maestro Eddie Van Halen-the man who made the impossible possible with joy and exuberance in every note. We miss you!
Still can't believe he's gone.... 😢

I know it still hurts always will 😢🎸🫶🏻🤲🏻🙏🏻

The definition of guitar skill, creativity and dedication, all summed up herein. The only other guitar player that belongs in the same room is SRV.
You speak foolish words
Everybody tried to play like Eddie...TRIED.
Thank you! Totally very thank you!❤❤❤
The king and always will be, thank you Eddie
Eddie was swollen from the effects of the cancer and the meds and Beyond brilliant
King Edward 🤘🔥🔥🔥
always wished I could play like Eddie
I miss that guy ❤😢
Goat 🐐
A voice from the otherworld!! 5:34
They go all the way back to the Erie Pa Alternative days for me with Jumping Jack. No doubt, we lived in the best music Era.
Thank the Lord for all those pedals/effects to make EVH a guitar digital legend.
Apparently you've never heard the studio out takes of eruption. No effects ,just raw amp sound. Search for it.
Монстр гитарный нечего сказать брависсимо.
Just can’t stop tapping . How old
show us some new stuff then

Eddie Van Halen Always Loved, Never Forgotten, Forever Miissed
There are only 2 at the very top…
E Van Halen and Hendrix…
Still undecided on who the greatest is?
WOW great solo by EVH. Also, David Lee Roth's voice was so bad.
lets see how you do when youre 67 years old at your profession ( french fryer)....thats what i thought

He looks very healthy here!
It was great until DLR attempted to sing
Why is DLR wearing a naval officer hat???? What a wacko
why are you wearing pantyhose?
stolen valor🤣

This one of his many versions of eruption lol not aint talkin bout love
DLR absolutely drains every drop of life out of the last one quarter of this video. I hate, hate, what he did here.
DLR sounds like bad karaoke.
Roth sounds terrible, saw them twice in the early eighties in the UK.

At 3:10. That is what killed him. Metal pics in his mouth. So sad.
Cigs
Roth sounds worse than Bruce Dickerson.
He’s old man. Never was a top tier vocalist. And Mikey use to cover for him. Dave was a showman first.
Who's Bruce Dickerson?
He got to the point that he stopped creating music and just played the same thing over and over again...his solos were the same....never changed....he was an absolute beast but he reached his peak in the mid 90's
Let's see how well you do it

Eddie was a great genius...but Dave was never a great singer.
😂 Because of DLR was so outrageous but calculated This band went to sky rocketed. Without DLR, Van Halen would never achieved that height with their career.
Adrian Belew was doing this decades before
Steve Vai is better and so is Satriani……..Eddie was a trickster
This sounds cool I hope they make it
Roth was washed up at this point. A mouthpiece with zero talent
