Game: Final Fantasy IX
Opinion: Creepy yet relaxing or haunting yet melodic? Memoria comes at the end of a game best described as light hearted, feel good and far removed from the clinically depressed outlook of VII or the personality deficient characters wandering aimlessly the lands of VIII. My first time through I remember thinking "wait wat? Where did this plot come from?". Of course, there IS a plot in FFIX but it's certainly more subtle, in Memoria the Gooch turns it up full blast and revels in the wonder and amazement of the sensory overload of glorious (for the time) graphics and art, articulate and thought provoking dialogue and serious tension all set to the splendid backdrop of the genius of Nobuo Uematsu titled the very same.
This track, like most of the soundtrack, is a wonder. Deep rich bass blends into gloriously smooth mids sending shivers down the spine to the constant chimes and bells. I don't think Memoria (the location) would be half as effective without Memoria (the song). Not just so, but this track makes fantastic study fodder. So here you go, over 25 minutes of Memoria looped at 320kbps or so, for those of us who find the 15 minute offerings on UA-cam just aren't long enough.

Something about this final dungeon really makes you feel like you’re at the “absolute end of the game”. Zidane in a glowing green crystal room just staring off into space. There’s nothing beyond but void.
That one area where you walk through a burning city, turn a corner and all of a sudden it's a sparkling town with church bells ringing is still such an amazing sequence, even today
FF16 interdimensional rift brought me back here. God, I loved FF9

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that, once the piano started In Interdimensional Rift I immediately had flashbacks to entering memoria for the first time
Final Fantasy's soundtracks can provoke so many emotions within a grown man's heart, let alone a kid playing this. I remember being 6 and listening to this for hours while playing it. TRULY A CLASSIC.
I enjoyed it 20 years ago, i enjoy it now, i'm going to enjoy it in 20 years

@@Ryuma222 Yes it does. I was a kid with depression and Final Fantasy made me so happy that actually helped me through those dark times, that's how powerful this franchise is.

played this game back when it was around 2001 or 2002... when it was a holiday from my school..it was dark and rainy day so i played this game alone.., back then i didn`t realized the creepiness this dungeon theme have..because i was too focus on what garland says...and the scenery is good.wow..what a memories....
Final Fantasy IX was my introduction to the FF franchise, in the summer of 2001.
I didn't actually make a full playthrough of the game until nearly a decade later... on an emulator. 😜

I completed the game only in 2014
I got it for Christmas 2001. I played this game constantly for over a year. I grinded hard and explored a lot. Then again in 2007 right before I joined the army. Again in 2010 right after I got married and then once more in 2020 and I'm looking at doing it yet again here soon...
While my first jrpg was ffvii wasn’t the first one I finished ; my mom picked this up for me as a kid and I finished it in 2 weeks. As an adult I realized how trippy this place really is; and how accurate to the theme of memory and lack Therof and how memories are the most valued thing in our world;d perception
Insane that you finished FF9 in 2 weeks. when I finished it a few years back it took me a month or 2 and it was pretty much all I was playing at the time.

@Valentien23 No, I did not really go for much of the side content in any of the Final Fantasies. I feel like 9, even without that, took over 60 hours

Hearing this makes me of course think of the past, but also how my happiest days are long behind me. These days, I wish each sleep would be my last. For me, this music encapsulates such a feeling.

I am a huge FF9 fan, completed the Excalibur II challenge twice, finished the game with a perfect save file, but memoria is still kinda a letdown for me. It is a straightfoward final dungeon, basically a sequence of screens one after another. No puzzles, no path bifurcations, no interactions, no NPCs, nothing. The sub-bosses do not have 3d models, there is NO indication whatsover of the card phantoms and Hades is hidden behind a coral underwater (WTF?). It is clear that the dev team had to rush the game at this point due to time constrains.
