Did Tupac’s Famous 3 Words Kill CHINO XL Career? Stunted Growth Music

- Tupac made imo the greatest diss record of all time ‘Hit Em Up’ targeted at multiple foes particularly on the east coast, including a quick send off to today’s feature in spoken word style right at the end. Tupac used only 3 words to address Chino XL, and those 3 words has lived with the New Jersey rapper for a lifetime, as far as his rap career. At the time it was yet known by the masses who Chino XL was, or why Tupac even threw his name in the song, but since then hip hop made it their business to find out who this mysterious MC was and so was I. One thing I think everyone concluded was Chino XL wasn’t some ordinary chum rapper the greatest MC dissed on record and was now banished from the culture forever, Chino XL actually grew to be a respected name in hip hop, although mostly underground. Tupac himself was surprised after he learned more about Chino XL, that as an MC he was actually formidable and some say one of the best of his generation. His punchline style rap early in his career rivaled that of guys like Big L, and Big Pun back in those days, and grew able to sit beside lyrical greats of today like Crooked I, Royce the 5’9 and Eminem. He’s had a decent rap existence considering the greatest rapper, at his peak should’ve killed his rap career with those famous 3 words, but he never blew up like his talent suggested for these reasons. If skill got you fame and fortune Chino XL would be Jay-Z. Too bad most times in life it takes more than that to be recognized as the best. Dope rapper either way.
Next Up: Immortal Technique
Thanks for my request, fam! Keep em coming!
If skills sold, truth be told, I’d probably be lyrically Talib Kweli
Yo, you gotta do one on Skillz.

Chino said..."avoid me like I was Eazy E's blood sample" 🤧
If Pac never dissed him i would NEVER know who he was
Exactly!!
Same
I still don’t
🎯
Because his music was never that good and he was never a major artist. He was clout chasing before the phrase was even invented by saying that Pac was sexually assaulted in prison, which is why Pac dissed him.
Facts
The song "Riiiot" with Ras Kass on his album was one of the most lyrical songs i heard back then... Still holds well lyrically till this day...
One of my favorite songs
Between Chino XL, cannabis and Immortal Technique.. I can listen to these cats all day
same
Lloyd Banks
Yeah, I used to bump them like crazy.
Chino XL is hot garbage
@@ohbaby4life 💯 cold corner 2 is nasty
Chino a monster underground emcee, quotes left and right..
Chino XL is a name I've heard for pretty much my whole life, but never knew who this guy was. Good video!
I thought bro was Akademics
That’s cause you weren’t born when he came out.lol
I've never dug into his catalog myself. Check out Tech 9ne Sickology. He's featured on there
Me too
Same
"REAL" Hip Hop heads knew Chino been dope.
Trash got cool lyrics but his flow was atrocious especially in the 90's
Not really. He was never a major artist and is known primarily for being dissed by Pac and that's by my generation, the younger generations don't know him at all.
@@dugniceit doesn't take being a major artist to have skills. I've been through the 80's AND 90's hip hop eras, heard MANY dope ass EMCEES that whose careers never saw the light of day. Been hip to Chino before Pac dissed him. But that's when radio played all manner of hip hop, not just stuck on one avenue of it
False
@@tonychopper9142
I ain't saying he don't have ANY good songs. I'm sure he probably does have a few good songs, but he was never considered a dope rapper nationally, even after clout chasing using Pac's name. That should have blown him up, but it didn't. Why?
Because his music wasn't good enough.
For those who are in their 40's and say you are a hiphop head but dont know Chino XL, is sad. His "Creep" video was getting burn on Mtv and Rap city....
I’m 43 and I know he always been TRASH…and it ain’t got nothing to do with Pac dissing him
That Creep remix!!! Wastin my time like Mona Lisa took the Benz I leased her/and the Helly Hansen snatched out hair extensions like Moesha!!!😅
💪💯Facts...cant say he was trash..he had alot of memorabe bars and verses...but thats why its ok to have different opinions🫡
One of the greatest underground rappers all time. This dude is nice on the mic.
😂😂😂😂
To be honest they only time I heard of this guy was in Hit Em Up

Been a fan of Chino since Art of Orgin 92' he's also a Mensa member
You should do Amil from Rocafella
Hands down one of my favorite emcees.
One of my favorite collaborations I've ever been a part of is with Chino XL.
Much love and respect to BIG CHINO!
Original 'Horrorcore" lyricist Art of Origin was Horrorcore in 92' two years before Gravediggaz
Esham been doing it since 1990... probably even earlier
@@PhantomOfThePsy-Opera no doubt but I'm from NYC so I only saw Esham in magazines Art Of Origin was getting played on Video Music Box with Into The Pit and underground radio shows so I heard them first but I know about Esham and Acid Rap 💪💪
Yep
Finally a video that I can sink my teeth into.
You Have to be a real hip hop head to know Chino XL. I became a fan because of the wake up show. His last album is pretty dope too
I’m a real hip-hop head and I know he always been TRASH
I heard the name Chino XL before Pac diss him but never heard any of his music until after the diss
You wasn’t missing nothing
If any of y’all who heard the Sway & Tech track THE ANTHEM, or actually heard the Album from Sway & Tech, you gotta know the posse Cut between him BIG DADDY KANE & Kool G. Rap. Y’all know who he is, you just didn’t know.
Yes! Classic anthem! I remember it well. He appeared on that song and the song with Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane as well. The song is called " 3 to the dome". Song is 🔥!
Him, Pharaoh Monch and Em had the best verses on that... Oh, can't forget Tech 9ine too...
Classic!!!!!
Chino had the best verse on the Anthem. Him and G-Rap. Tech9 was really good as well.
@@anthonymcmillan8273hell yeah! 3 to tha Dome is 🔥
It came on cause I’ve been listening to Kane today and then this came on and then I saw this comment connecting everything and
I’m over the stupid universe
Anyway who y’all think had the best verse on Anthem?
PAC did him the biggest favor of his career short of featuring him on an album. Chino just wasn’t able to capitalize on it.
Because he was trash simple
@@juzeljames7793 theres nothing trash about chino xl. the guy is a rappers rapper.
@@ronbennet2320 nah he trash and his raps are boring buddy

I love Pac forever but Chino XL is underrated. He's a underground legend & he's still fire to this day.
😂😂😂😂
Chino bars kept on getting better
Ppl that was really into rap, always know who Chino XL was.
I have listened to Chino XL since i was a kid - his problem was his album beats were always wack, he could spit flames as a rapper, but didn't know how to construct songs, and didn't have a good record label - he was an underground hood star.....
Reason being is because he's always been an MC that's known to diss mainstream artists and saying brutal punchlines that scares the mainstream airwaves. He didn't compromise his style.
@@anthonymcmillan8273nah he was just trash
@@anthonymcmillan8273Yup, he was mocking and taking shots at pop culture long before Eminem. The problem is he wasn't as large as Em to get passed that.
His best material was spitting to others rappers beats on the wake up show imo
I never heard of dude since then. I’m glad I subscribed to this page!
I can't lie I'm a huge Pac fan but that Chino XL diss to Pac was funny 🤣
He got his ass i wont lie lol
Really, I think that shit was corny and cringe AF. It’s like saying “don’t drop the soap” 😏🤨🤨🤨🤨 hell naw
Chino was wack 😂
It wasn't really a dis though. It was just a punchline in poor taste. He dissed him hard as fuck after the Chino XL fuck you too line. When he said "fuck you and yo crack head mama". That shit was wild. Chino was an ill battle rapper.
Great video!! Jay Z said “So I dumbed down my lyrics to double the dollar”. I always felt that was the Chino problem. I’m a lyric purist so this is no diss. Rap fans were not wanting to have to stop a think about 3 or 4 things he fit into two bars. By the time you’re done laughing at a punchline he’s already said 5 more. Also, bad timing. He was coming out as hip hop was shifting into that Glamour and Glitz (ATCQ) era. The party jams and living the good life. Even Tracey Lee made a thuggish party anthem. Chino was a few years too late.
Chino XL is that dude one of the most skilled rappers I've ever heard
No...he was/is just too nice.
😂😂😂😂
He dissed everyone. But dissing pac was one of his biggest mistake
Disagree... Bar for bar, Pac couldn't f**k with Chino...
Pac took no prisoners.

Saw him live at Trees in Dallas bro put on a great show
Do a video about bronx legend "Percee P" 🎤
Hell yeah , nowhere near simple is one of my all time favourite tracks
I was put onto him by a underground rap artist in the early 2000s.
Chino has always been and still a monster!
Request: Chiddy Bang
Funny I actaully had Chino's "Here to save you all" and had heard Rioot long before hit em up thus i wasnt surprised to here chino's name on hit em up
Respectfully. I gotta disagree. Pac didn't stunt his growth. He did that to his self. And it wasn't from dissing
Debut was dope 🔥
Bruh channel is amazing juice to hear your opinion on Chino hes always been one of my favorites
Chino XL , here to save you all is a classic.
Here to Save You All is a classic. I originally thought he was from LA tho. He got that West Coast look about him 💯😊
This is perfect video I'm a chino fan for life. Maybe check copywriter or vakill
Actual Facts.....1) The "Pac" diss wasn't so personal, many many people got dissed on that album......2) Chino's lyricism was never for the mainstream or for the clubs.......3) He would have destroyed Pac differently on the microphone.......4) Everyone needs to stop dwelling on this decades later and just enjoy the music....
Do Crooked i next please
I was 13 when I heard No Complex on MTV raps and Paparazzi by Xzibit and was waiting for more exposé hip hop and for the to blow. 3 years later, I was satisfied to hear them both, sling with Tech, RZA and Em on the Wake Up Show anthem
Do one on either MC Eiht or Spice 1
Thousands & riiiot & ghetto vampire are some of my favourites
Can you please do a video on Jennifer Lopez! I feel like it’s definitely needed
No it's definitely not
Nah, not needed.
It was the fact that Big pun existed and nobody wanted a dollar tree version of Big pun named chino XL.
What beat is that playing in the video?
The Pac issue had nothing to do with growth. He was too lyrical as Hip Hop dumbed down..he didnt make party/dance songs etc..He was a lyrical BEAST TOP5 All time!!!!
I knew of Chino XL way before the Tupac diss. Rap City used to play him from time to time & I remember wondering why they dont play his video that much. They keep re playing bigger artists over and over then every now and then a Chino XL. I was shocked when I heard Tupac call his name out because I never heard the song with the Pac diss until afterwards.
Can you do a vid on R.A. Rugged Man?
Man, I had no idea who this guy was.

Could you do Kottonmouth Kings royal highness album
Their beef was ended in Venice Beach before Pac passed. That's why there is no diss from 2Pac on "The 7 Day Theory". The article is online from HipHopDX which was posted in 2001. People need to stop speculating a "beef" that has been squashed for almost 30 years! Chino is "The King of Ill Rhymes & Punchlines" given to him by KRS + his song "Wordsmith" was studied by professors @ MIT! He's your favorite rappers, favorite rapper!
truth....but these generic rap fans who think Pac is God will never see past it.
Love your work please do Hitman Sammy sam.
Have you done Truth Hurts, Lady Sovereign, or DG Yola?
I remember seeing his I'm a creep, I'm a loser vid before Pac went at him. I still have his first album, it was pretty good.
I told you so and Poison Pen 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You should do Cap 1 next.
Chino been a problem since Day 1. Dude is a Jersey native (East Orange) and a serious lyricist. His albums are bar for bar serious work. Listen to "Here to Save You All" in 96. I still bump "No Complex". Big up to the Puerto Rock Chino XL
Chino used to tag his name all over E.O. He was street famous before we even knew his face or that he rapped because of his graffiti.
I still to this day nobody has anything on 2pac and never will he did a lot in the lil bit of time music and movies just the goat 🐐 of everything
Eminem bit Chino XL's rap style.
I'll take your word for it? Really?
Chino has 20k listeners on Spotify alone, he's not doing to bad!
It wasn't pac , it was him constantly saying " like ah" every bar
That new shit he just did with Stu Bangas absolutely SUCKS.
stop the cap. look at all the hip hop reviews on it online their all good.
@@ronbennet2320 you let hip hop review sites tell you what’s good or not??😂😂😂
Have you done Mercedes from No Limit or Gudda Gudda?
Chino went Gold, prior to Pac dissing him. Çhances are, his deal sucked and he wouldn't go pop. The guy is a monster. Far as his lyrical content, there aren't many on his level.
people dont rap like him anymore. and its not a bad thing. shudda kept his mustache
He was trash with or without the mustache
My favorite verse from Chino XL: Hip Hop Seoul-Ja by Jinusean
YO BRO ,DO ONE ON PSYCHO REALM. THEY DA GOATS MAN. 💯💯💯
Chino is arguably one of the greatest lyricist of all time!
TOP 5 FOR SURE.
@@CipherKenni😂😂😂😂
Yall gotta be joking…
I can hear his influence on Immortal Technique
In my 2Pac voice: it's still "Fuck Chino XL"‼️
At least Those 3 fans in the intro were digging him
His first album was kinda scattershot and gimmicky, but the songs that worked were frigging amazing (like "Deliver," "No Complex," "Riiiot!" & "Ghetto Vampire" to name a few) I haven't checked out his catalog since then, but I've always been intrigued.
To inform you that he made 6 albums. Out of the 6 are 2 collaborative efforts. He normally puts out albums every 5 years. That's usually why you don't hear from him musically like that because he REALLY takes time creating albums.
I RECORDED AN OLD L.A. FREESTYLE HE SPIT................. DOPE!!!!!!
Wait hold on...he didn't just only have the one line "get fked like Pac in jail" or whatever...he had a whole freestyle dissing Pac over the "Who shot ya" beat. It said some a the most disrespectful stuff ever about Pac. Im sure its on UA-cam. I had it on cassette back in the 90s , I think it was from the Wake up show. Some body out there remembers what im talking about.
Do one of The Luniz
Lord I try to keep positive, but this life is full of strife and I'm tired of trying to conquer it. Lord always thinking negative. What will go wrong will go wrong until the beast in me vanishes.
Me and him got the same birthday just 10 years apart
I had a movie he was in. My boy was running around shooting shit up dead ass. Can't remember the title at all tho
The movie you're thinking of is "Crime partners(2000)". It has a good amount of rappers from the 90's in it. The main star in the movie is "Tyrin Turner(Kane, Menace 2 society movie(93).
Hell he did sum of those Friday after dark movies on Cinemax too 😮
Chino is a legend like Lloyd Banks
There is so much incorrect about this. Saying artists don’t want to work with Chino is mind blowing when he has worked with damn near everybody. The Pac beef was such a blip in his career that it didn’t harm him in anyway. He was like any other lyrical rapper at that damn. There is no replay value so it never took off. This one was wack.
back then their was certain rappers that stayed away from chino i know this for a fact because of the pac diss. theres one i heard of online that said he wanted chino to be on a song and one of his peoples said not to put chino on the song because of the pac beef. trust me the blackball was real.
Wastin my time like Mona Lisa took the Benz I leased her/and the Helly Hansen snatched out hair extensions like Moesha…..classic!!!
You should do kilo ali
Chino XL actaully had a solid career.. imo pac dissing him didnt help or hurt him if anything it helped more people heard his name bc of pac.. Chin was simply to underground and lyrical to go mainstream imo
I never heard of him until today and im 30
I was the 667th person to like this video, you are welcome.
So he just threw 2pac’s name i a rap song just for the hell of it…That really made sense 🤔🤔🤔
I remember first hearing Chino XL on the Wake Up Show in the mid-90s with Sway and King Tech. Hella dope MC. I thought he was from Cali as much he was on the WUS. I recall a line he said about Pac, during the time Pac was locked up. Then Pac severed his head thereafter. Chino XL was always a dope MC, could've been what Big Pun was.
He was on a west coast label and may have relocated to the bay area during his career.
