    Enjoy my collection of propeller driven aircraft models. You will find iconic warbirds from WW2 to Vietnam and can follow the build, paint and weathering process. ua-cam.com/play/PLnh-SozPErfmAyI7EboeaLh6Kd3DqB8iM.html

    Great job on that excellent model. In fact I have the same kit and it is a great value for the money.
    I have a story about the pilot, Charles Weaver...
    Shortly after the Gulf War of 1991 I was working at a hobby store in Atlanta when a very well dressed prifessional woman in her 30's came in and asked if we had a P-51 model. We had several, including the 1/48 Hasegawa re box of Weaver's P-51D.
    The next day a very distinguished professional gentleman in his 60's came in. He was about 5'10", full head of silver grey hair, and was in great shape. And he still had the blue fighter pilot's eyes. It was Charles Weaver. Anyway, he went over and picked up that Hasegawa kit and said: "This is my airplane that I flew in World War 2. And by the way, the pin up art on the nose is incorrect. Her **** are not pointy enough..."!
    I guess he bought the model kit. In any case I never met him again.
    His obituary is on line, as well as a video of his graveside service which included a P-51 flyover..

      Hello and thank you very much for sharing this amazing story. I was just looking at some original photos of Capt Weaver and his Mustang and read his 2008 obituary...very impressive. I will see the model with different eyes now. I chose the decal variant rather randomly, but I really like the background stories in the Eduard instructions. Eduard also produces a monthly newsletter with well-researched historical articles on their models. Take care and many greetings from Germany. ScalerDan

    Great build especially wheels up! How was the gear doors fit? It looks pretty good on the finished model, any mods needed? Also where did you get the pilot figure?

      Thanks a lot for your interest. The fit of the gear doors is ok but you have to grind the material thinner. The flaps also need to be adjusted as they are designed for flaps down. Overall some cutting and sanding but doable. The Pilot is a resin figure by PJ Productions. Regards ScalerDan

    hello, what colors did you use for the propeller ogive?

    • @ScalerDan
      @ScalerDan  5 місяців тому

      Thank you for your question. For the propeller tip I can recommend AK Real Color Signal Red (RC005) and Maize Yellow (RC008). For the propeller blades I usually use a mix of Black and NATO Black. Regards ScalerDan

    Where did you purchase the display stand? Nice build...

      Thanks! I built the stand out of an acrylic bookend and an acrylic rod (8mm diameter). Bought both items via Amazon. Regards ScalerDan

      @@ScalerDan thank you. How did you attached the items? Again, enjoyed your build.

      I used ordinary super glue for the stand. The holes were drilled very tightly so that it would have held almost without glue...
