She's sounds like she's out of the 40's and 50's! I got a Rosemary Clooney vibe right off the bat. Amazing sound and incredibly talented! I will be searching for more of her songs as soon as I'm done watching this analysis.
I've never heard her before. She has a great voice and style. Beautiful. I love your analysis - I know that I enjoryed it very much, I didn't know exactly why. Thank you for your reaction.
Oooooh yeahhh. I love this singer. Cello is totally cool. Almost never happens, liking a singer instantly on first ever exposure. Thanks again, Bethany Hickman. And so yes, your closing comments, Laufy (sp?) to my ears, clean, crisp, resonant, varied, like a vocal ear brain massage. Fantastic!
Oh wow, so excited to hear this! I just discovered Laufey a few months ago and she's quickly become one of my favorite vocalists. I love her tone and the way she utilizes it in her delivery. And she's such a talented musician and composer, I might add. One of her compositions that I would recommend is "Like The Movies" (with the symphony). Her piano intro alone is almost worth the price of admission. I'm so happy, Bethany, that you brought this one to us. This song, along with your always enlightening breakdown of vocals just adds to the experience. Thank you so much! 😊😊
My 30-year-old kid introduced me to her. I love how much style she puts into her vocals, such a refreshing contrast from auto-tuned and click-metered everything on the pop charts.
She has a very beautiful sound to her voice, and the changes/variations she does throughout gives the song a fun flow. I've only heard her a couple of times now, but I'm quickly becoming a fan! I also really like the sound of the symphony and all the string instruments.
OMG! She is wonderful! This is my first introduction to Laufey and her vocal production & style reminds me so much of the great movie songs from the 40's & 50's. It also reminds me of Post Modern Jukebox's various collabs featuring Haley Reinhart. So refreshing and wonderful. Thank you Brittany for this beautiful blind date and your wonderful analysis!
At first she reminded me of K.D. Lang. Then as she went on she had her own special uniqueness. And when she pulled that bow out of her pocket! Wow! Now I am a huge fan as well. I agreed with every bit of your analysis, even her delivery of special words like 'best'. Thanks, Beth, for this absolute gem. 💓
WOWZA! Never heard of her but love everything about this video. The strings in the orchestra are lovely. We need more of this classic style of music. Almost like hearing Michael Bubble’ for the first time. Listening to her takes me to a small cozy bar in the 40’s, sipping a martini! Such talent! More please! Luv ur critique, as always!
It's amazing how much this girl's tone and delivery are reminiscent of Doris Day who of course was a very fine singer. As usual you picked out some nuances that I might've missed Bethany. Well done. 🎤
Those moments when you listen to a musician for the first time and fall in love with that music are the best. I heard about Laufey before but didn't listen to her music until now. It will be a pleasure for me to discover more of her music. I'm curious if everything she plays is in the same style. For sure she has talent enough to show a big variety, if she wants.
Kai Tangata by Alien Weaponry a Kiwi(NZ) band. The song is sung completely in Maori, even if you don't understand a lick of the language, the vocals are amazing.
Your insights on playing an instrument while singing are right on the money. It's not a bad thing if you can't do it. The late great BB King was always doing one or the other, never both at the same time. He was quoted as saying he had "stupid fingers". Which of course, he didn't. One of the all-time great blues guitarists, and a fantastic singer too.
Part II 😁 Her style (phrasing ?) reminds me of KD Lang. I bought her vinyl Shadowland when I first saw her sing on Johnny Carson. Yes!! BUSY BEING BLUE by KD Lang!! It will be your new old favorite!! 🕊️☮️
I have been listening to her for a few years but the only ones I know is from the start, wish you love, valentine, and falling behind😅lol but I absolutely love her voice it’s so angelic🥹😭🥰
Two artist I don’t think you’ve covered yet and I think you really should look at…. Kate Bush, Running Up That Hill…. And Lena Lovich… Birdsong. I think you will not be disappointed with either.
Hi! Sorry if you already received a comment like this, asking you to analyze the vocals of this singer, but I really wish english speakers could get to know about Ñusta Picuasi, an ecuatorian singer that has gone viral over this year. She made a cover of the fifth element song, and some others like from Game of Thrones and the famous Yma Sumac. I hope I don't seem to be pushy :( but it would be amazing if you could make a video about her if you have the time!
Please react to Keith Whitley he was a great Country music singer , I think you'll like him . Don't Close Your Eyes , When You Say Nothing At All , My Miami My Amy and I'm No Stranger To The Rain . He was married to Country music singer Lorrie Morgan . In 1986 until his death in 1989 from alcoholism .
Impressive!! If it's actually a NEW song I'll pleasingly more impressed!! Haaaa some of us can't walk and chew gum at the same time sooo. Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Can you please do an analysis video on Lily from NMIXX group? She did a cover of "When I Was Your Man" brilliantly. She also covered "Symphony" and "All I Want For Christmas Is You" beautifully. Her vocal and skills are otherworldly especially for a singer her age.
i dont know if you take recommendations but please react to "ado unravel live performance" I promise it will genuinely blow your mind, ado is a japanese singer and in my pertsonal opinion is probably one of if not the best singers in the world currently, even if you dont like the music i gaurantee you will leave feeling genuinely impressed at this young womans god given talent.
Please check out lone justice studio version of " Wheels" they have a couple other great songs. Maria McKee is the singer. Also, I implore you to listen to Battlescar by Rush and Max Webster. A very eclectic and talented band. Battlescar studio on the Universal Juveniles album. Also, let go the line. You like transitions? You got 'em😂ciao
Hey, id be interested to get your take on Annenmaykanterriet, not sure i spelt that right, seen some trained vocalists criticising Henning May for straining and his voice being unnatural, i think he us incredible personally and id like to know your opinion, i have a feeling the people who are critical of him are possibly jealous. So id like to get your take on it if possible.
You should react to Abdulrahman mohammed from saudi arabia. His vocal is on different level. React to his song simplicity and A girl with in my soul concert version. The guy is pure magician. Believe me you won't regret it. Even though i'm a non arab but he is my fav singer. You will find the song in his youtube account
I recently discovered your channel and watched tons of your videos and I really enjoy your positive surprised reactions to metal bands. You were wright to do a second video for Sebnem Ferah with the 2007 symphonic live , although I prefer this song to understand her skills and the whole wonderfull production ua-cam.com/video/vQ-SWlCWNyE/v-deo.html . Speaking of Turkey lots of interesting bands but I would recommend a Bowie cover by Mizan ua-cam.com/video/4_ct_KmmuJs/v-deo.html . Another interesting cover from Whitesnake live 1983 ua-cam.com/video/eUG9P2SHFss/v-deo.html . You did Black Sabbath and Ozzy videos but the impact of them you can feel it at their last live performance here ua-cam.com/video/zY5nYmTUfnQ/v-deo.html . After Ozzy there were 2 brilliant sabbath albums with Dio, here's a pefect sample ua-cam.com/video/CfEP6EkRiPk/v-deo.html . Since I am greek I would suggest Septicflesh live in Mexico with orchestra and chorus ua-cam.com/video/RM_g4h9_gq8/v-deo.html . Another greek but only drums not vocals but must see , George Kollias drummer of US death metal band Nile ua-cam.com/video/RqzZmNqdWck/v-deo.html . I am surprised you haven't done any Dream Theater yet ua-cam.com/video/pEkWYrmk7OA/v-deo.html . How about some Viking Metal ? This one by Amon Amarth is interesting because of the collaboration with British legends Saxon ua-cam.com/video/PLzsWa20YIo/v-deo.html . And because you did Heilung I would recommend Wardruna , this is from last year live under the Acropolis Athens at an ancient Roman Odeon and I was lucky enough to be there ua-cam.com/video/rghWk_AvfE0/v-deo.html . Hope you try at least one and sorry for the huge comment.

yuh
Love Laufey, she always makes me smile to hear her. Her piano playing is as impressive as her cello and guitar playing.
wow this sounds so 40's era. and she only 25. glad some young artist nowadays still digging this kind of music.
I love her so much !!! My boyfriend showed me her music and we are sooo shocked about her voice and her art ! ❤ it melts my heart !
I've never heard her before. She has a great voice and style. Beautiful. I love your analysis - I know that I enjoryed it very much, I didn't know exactly why. Thank you for your reaction.

I really really love Laufey's music. I can't get over how much I enjoy it. I adore her jazz, bossa nova and classical influences in her music

Wow what a beautiful voice, thank you for showcasing her.

Your passion for music is even moore beautiful than the music it self..Thank you.
She's woooow I just got speechless .this is the first time I hear her 😍🤦🏻♀️ and you are so stunning I look forward to hearing you 🤩🤩🤩

Intrigued by this, heard of Laufey before, need to listen more often to new music/artists.
Beautiful voice, AND she plays the cello?!! First time hearing of her.
Was not expecting this at all.
So glad I did
Her singing reminds me of a feather floating on a gentle breeze. Such an amazing talent.
we love her, she is amazing

Holy Cow I think you had an eargasm!!!
Would love to watch you talk us through Sydnie Christmas's Britain's Got Talent trio of performances. They are stellar.
She definitely is bringing back a really social style, when people went out. And did things lo.
Her tone reminded me of those 1920s old Shanghai vocalists like Bai Guang and Zhou Xuan...
She's a seasoned vocalist, knowing where to add those high inflections and off-notes.
I don't usually do this, but, FIRST! Cool viddy!

Moses Sumney - beautiful and creative range
Anna-Maria Hefele - polyphonic overtone singer 🙃
Love Laufeys voice.... Have you heard of Wang Ok?... she is incredible as well. They have great range in their tones and such a timeless feel.
I love Laufey!!!!
So much incredible talent in one small woman. A new artist to me . I am sure Simon Cowell would call her boring .
I have been listening to her for a few years but the only ones I know is from the start, wish you love, valentine, and falling behind😅lol but I absolutely love her voice it’s so angelic🥹😭🥰
Your hair colour looks soooooo good on you.
Lovely voice and beautiful lady. Laufey is all right too.
