Hi Amelie, I hope you’ve had a great day, I only have a few weeks till my final deadline and I have decent amount of work but it’s not finished yet (annotations) do you know what is work best to get more marks in less time ? And I also feel my teacher is a harsh marker which I’m at a disadvantage no matter how good my paintings are, if you could help it would be appreciated greatly !

Hi! Finish the annotations and then start producing high quality work! This means finished, worked up pieces that lead up to your final idea. No more experimentation. Good luck!💜💜

Hi! I just wondering, do actually get a GOOD grade in Art gcse, does your art have to be realistic? I have a strong interest in Animation, specifically 2D, but I ain’t really the best at art. I’m starting Y9 this year and pick at the end of the year, and I’m going to try and teach myself as many art skills and ways of drawing cartoony styles as I can in a year 😅 which may go bad but I’ll try. So is it even worth the time to teach myself these skills and will a cartoony sketchbook actually get me a good grade if I put the effort in

Also for artist research, could I prep-haps use a tv show style as inspiration or maybe someone in the animating community online?

Hi! Im in y11 right now and my teachers strongly disapprove of using cartoon/animated or anime styles. They aren't the type of work your exam board and the invigilators are looking for so I would strongly recommend you don't focus on them for gcse.

Check out my TikTok, I have video son all of this! but the short answer is no, you do not have to work realistically if you don't want to, especially not for your final project. you will be encouraged to at the start, so do give it a go!
just make sure you can justify your style as fine art in your annotations. again I have more in depth videos of all of this on my tiktok!
