⚠️TRIGGER WARNING: BREIF AND VAGUE MENTION OF SUICIDE IN THE CONTEXT OF AN ART PIECE⚠️
I swear, if you sat down an english teacher and an art teacher together, they could have a four hour discussion about the symbolism of different colours.
ikr
Yk that is actually so real English teachers just love pulling things out of thin air

it definitely is the hardest GCSE not trying to scare you (I had to finish mine without feedback from my art teacher and we didn't do an exam or anything so that was tough) but I still got an 8 and it was my worst grade even though it took me far more time than any other subject. also I hated it by the end it was the most stressful thing I've ever done good luck :)
8 was your worst grade????
@@Jinx-rj7kx Ikr :)
@@Jinx-rj7kx don't take this seriously I they really think 8 is their worst grade. Art isn't that hard, you just have to try
@@Sogggys who’s that in your profile picture?
@@Sogggys Thats the issue, a lot of people try but not hard enough, art gcse is so life draining and if you fall behind it is quite hard to catch up on and will require a lot of work, lesson time is not enough especially since its non core and you will need to spend most time on this subject at home.
you lost me at the mental health but i already picked it so looks like im stuck😂
I have took some notes
Help yourself
Ik art is a horrible option
1. Response to the stimulus
A paragraph about what you first thought when you had the stimulus
2. Bring different media: photographs, screen shots, drawing, paintings, writing, newspapers
3. Mindmaps : keywords, artists, programmes
4. The more obscure the artists the better,
5. Do artists copies
6. Talk about the artists as they are the reason of you living, exaggeration. The are the best and they really inspired you
7. Annotate artwork
8. Development: what examiners care about, develop you ideas, initial plans, final plans
9. When you develop your final idea you need to explain why
10. Examiners want something extraordinary, take the stimulus in a way that no one else take it in
11. Be ridiculous, make it seem like your life resolve around that topic
12. Can be anything, write an esssay about how meaningful it is, and how it made a difference to your life
13. Interpret the idea into your piece
14. Do your work in different media
15. Make it seem that your final piece is the best thing you ever did in your life, be proud of it take pictures in different angles, sketch it write about how much pride you have in it
16. Anotate your final piece
17. Make it seem that the things you did were revolutionary you are going to come back to it and change it a bit
18. Use every media, EXPERIMENT
19. Look at each section of you piece and provide evidence of how much you experimented
20. Internet mood boards
21. Need primary resource, picture you took yourself
22. Need secondary sources, pictures you took of the Internet
23. Refinement, you micromanage every detail of your final piece, you decide exactly what it is going to be, draw out an exact plan of it, you draw out that plan in 10 more times in ten more different medias
24. NOT TALENT, PATIENCE, RESILIENCE, HARD WORK
25. Evaluate your ideas, you first interpretation was however i want to make it deeper, i looked at these artists, thus is what i think people would get from my work, this is what i was excited about making, i felt this, i felt excited to tell a story through this, this and that i encountered some problems along the way for example , how i fixed them, how you developed things , how skills changed, how they have been enriched, talk about what you have learnt, talk more technically, i thing my choice of colour is , my choice of use this image is particularly helpful in portraying the theme, helped the onlookers find deeper meaning
26. Bang bang ending, say what you would do if you go back to make the final piece better, overall talk about how meaningful and extraordinary the experience was, be dramatic
27. Recommend doing a serious topic
28. Pick something you feel passionate about, if you don't have make one
29. Poems, writing, songs, photography include it
30. Want something personal
31. Need to make the examiner like you
32. Bring un your understanding of the topic, your views on it
33. You can do anything, and call it art
34. Include song lyrics, poems, quotes, letters, envelopes
35. Have a style, a trademark
36. Bang bang ending the last page
37. Relate to you artwork
38. Give them something to think about
39. At the end of your work, put a question, a confession
40. Add little creativite things in the course work
41. Be original, interpret the stimulus in your own way
42. Visit galleries
42. Anotate artists works, take pictures with them
43. Go to a place that link to your final piece
44. Pay attention to the details
45. Spend time on the background
46. Any material is useful
46. If the art teacher didn't support hour craziness, IGNORE THEM
47. Tears when you are writing why you picked this topic
48. Should be so prepared when you go into the exam
49. When are prepared, you finish early, you will have extra time to improve
50. Don't leave blank space
51. Include wild, wacky things
52. Examiners love craziness
53. Progress photos
This was very helpful thank you so much 🫶🏼
ur a life saver🙏

Me too but a year later
hows 11 treating you i just became year 11 too and im so stressed
Same my art teacher is so fussy

I actually got a 9 on one of my artist analysis even while dissing the artist.
I think it was because of the way I did it...although I didn't like the artist, I still had the ability to aprecciate the utter effort and dedication he put into his work, and analysed it just as I did the others (that I liked). I mean, my title was literally 'Dull yet sharp', (dull as in boring, sharp as in smart xd).
One main thing I want to include in my gcse art book are people expressing their body and who they are, for example I want to draw the model who has virtilago and I want to draw plus sized people being who they are because it inspires me to me myself and it just gives you a hint of what people think/say about themselves I just aspire it ❤️❤️
Can i just say, this video is great! But to anyone who feels they won't do well, you don't need to do as much to get a grade 9. I'm expected an 8/9, and i didn't do as much like at all. Obviously doing work like this will guarantee an amazing grade however, art is about completing the 4 AO's efficiently . Things like, observational drawings, primary photos, ANALYSIS! She does mention analysis and it's VERY important. (Literally speaking about "deeper meanings", feelings that are conveyed, your opinion, what the work contains (tones/contrast (use artistic terms) and as she said, you can ramble on and that will get you marks). Write analysis for everything (as much as u can) (as my teacher says, literally speak to them like they are a baby, explain everything you did in a drawing or the artist did, etc). Also mindmaps, plan, initial ideas, final plans, everything, shows your development and thought, DEFO include this. (Even a random Mindmap about anything). IF you wanna know more, search A01, AO2, AO3, AO4 IN ART. Oh yeah, also the use of materials and experimenting. (using acrylic, watercolor, pen, pencil, painting on different backgrounds, impasto, dry brushing (different techniques), oil paints. And of course your final piece (AO4), (if u r doing aqa art gcse, search online what you need to do to get high marks or do this for any board :)) Your final piece needs to LINK to your theme, everything you do in general needs to LINK. IF it doesn't you'll most likely lose marks. But any way, this is pretty much what i did, of course you can do what she did, but I could never, so don't think that you won't do well because she has a different method, which is great btw, but i'm not as talented :)
a girl in my school did the blank canvas thing. i think she got a 7 or an 8.

the fact i just watched your hour long video about art proves that my art is officially controlling my life, my teacher hasn’t even mentioned annotations and it annoys me so much, i’ve annotated my work because i’m smart lmao but i’m genuinely worried for the rest of the class 😭
you need to 100% make a video on all of your art books
i did like 12 double pages (2/3rds of my book i think) and I got an 8 while a lot of my classmates used the whole book. Most of them got 6 which kinda baffled me but I guess it's because of my development, and the unique way I took the theme, just use symbolism and make your art mean something, even if its complete waffle- the art teachers eat that up. so pls dont worry if you're not good at filling up pages, i promise. Also she deserves like a grade 10 omg
Well DONE congratulations

To really enrich my GCSE art annotations, I used to hype my self up about my chosen topic to the point where I would cry while writing my annotations-to really infuse my passion into every single word. i watched every minute of this video, being already crazy and having crazy experiences for references and inspiration, and im even more crazy and now know every single step on how to annotate and explain these experiences through so many mediums and medias , long paragraphs, emotions and so much more
THANK U
Also I know you said quantity over quality but it depends which course you’re doing . I did AQA rather than OCR and aqa is about developing one type of art whereas ocr is doing loads of different styles
will you do a video of you flipping through your sketchbooks ? they are so cool
I’m literally terrified I’m so scared I won’t be able to keep up with the work , any tips 🥺
Don’t fall behind with work. It’s the worst experience ever. Doing 3 drawings at 2 am becomes your lifestyle if you do. Do everything as soon as you get it. Trust me you won’t regret it. Also when you’re analysing, write like you’re talking to a 3 yr old. So assume the examiner knows nothing about what you’re doing and they have the brain cells of a pea. Use as many mediums as you can and generally try your hardest. Sell your soul to Satan and hope it goes well
And with writing bullshit your way through it. Could an interpretation be about how the artist was berated at age 2 by his nursery teacher? Yes? Then write that. No matter how niche it may seem, write something rather than nothinf

oh my days emily brady is one of my favorite people in the world! Some of these tips I cant do just because at my school we have to mainly use big whopping a2 study sheets and our a4 sketchbooks are just for homeworks :( (I do most of my work out of class already though) so do you have any tips for how to make the examiner like you using study sheets, just because its a lot more difficult to add things like pieces of wood and other quirky 3d elements, and since they are all loose sheets there isn't a clear beginning and end to my work so I'm not sure how to give it personality and make it stand out from everyone else's. Please help! Also while I was watching this video it dawned on me that I am NOT getting a 9 in my art GCSE. Oh well. Hey so I did the theme ‘growth decay and transformation last year’ and my biggest tip is to not do the obvious. Like a skull or rotting fruit etc. I mean you can but then it wouldn’t really be meaningful or original. Idk if this will help but for my final piece I did like 2 heads coming out of one head in the middle showing different emotions with a decaying background. I hope this helps!
