Repairing & Restoring an Arkanoid Arcade Spinner

- Today, we took an old original (Taito) Arkanoid spinner that had definitely seen much better days, and restored it back to its former glory. The spinner was working, but was making a very loud grinding sound, had a lot of resistance and vibration in the spin, and didn't spin freely at all.

My R of Doh is doing the same thing - thank you for this video..!.!.
For the record, on this particular model/style spinner, the 2 set screws holding the spinner knob in place, use a 2mm Allen wrench/Hex key. 👍
Thanks for the video
Have a Arkanoid bar top that not detecting the spinner. Have not got to it yet but was glad to find this 🍻
Thanks! By the way that kind of little Allan screw with no head is called a grub screw
Also called a "Set Screw", or at least that what I call 'em. And for the record, on this spinner in particular, the Set Screws need a 2mm Allen/Hex wrench/key. 👍
Is there any way to use the original arkanoid spinner on a personal computer?
ARCADE SCHOOL, how do you test the arkanoid spinner encoder chips output to know its working correctly or not?
I'm actually not sure how you could test it outside of the cabinet. It was working in the cabinet before I removed it, so (hopefully) it still works! All I did was disassemble it, clean the gears and metal parts, and lube the mechanical parts; didn't mess with the PCB, so there's no reason why it shouldn't still work. We'll get it reinstalled in there soon and test it, but there's a bit more control panel work that needs done before I reassemble everything for testing. I'm definitely anxious to see how it plays now, though. It was kind of hard to play before because it didn't spin correctly.
