  • Almost a week late due to the winter storms in Texas but I finally experienced Chicago O’Hare for the first time. A beautiful sunny morning in snow covered northern Illinois as we approached and landed. I was kind of sad that we took a short downwind and didn’t go out over Lake Michigan before turning base and final but I still caught a nice glimpse of downtown Chicago and the partially frozen shoreline of Lake Michigan. West flow into ORD is definitely one of the most scenic airport approaches here in the United States.

      Yeah! Plenty of runway for a smooth roll out.

    Buttery smooth landing!

      It was! One of the smoothest 737-700 landings I’ve experienced. Actually had quite a few smooth landings recently, not the usual back breaking, fly it through the pavement touchdowns. Lol.

    Nice smooth landing unlike at midway where they have to slam the plane on the runway and immediately go full reverse thrust and full brakes to not run off the other end. Lol

      Yeah, with the short runways at MDW they have to put it down firm, quickly. Ironically I went through MDW a couple of weeks ago and the touchdown was one of the softest I’ve ever felt.

      @@AListFlierKris Every now and then you will get a soft landing. But I had to stop and change planes at MDW while traveling from DTW to AUS a week ago and the landing was a typical hard landing. It didn’t help that it was pretty windy either.

      @@BroadwayLTDProductions there’s just those stations where you learn to expect firm, positive touch downs. MDW, SNA, BUR and LAX often just to make an early turn off and shave some taxi time, especially if landing 24R. Just to name the notorious ones. Never had an official “hard landing” yet as defined by the acft mfr.

      Thanks. Yeah, it was morning so my view was backlit as well which didn’t help visibility either.

    Cool, I didn't know SWA went into ORD. Judgine by your channel name, guessing all your vids are going to be on Southwest Airlines? Good luck with your channel and thanks.

      Thanks! They began ORD service on feb 14th. As of now they all are, primarily because SWA is my carrier of choice and haven’t had a need or want to go somewhere they happen to not serve. That’s always subject to change as time goes on. There are some other aircraft I want to fly on but haven’t had the opportunity and timing hasn’t been favorable.

      Nice. I hope the station works out for them once travel numbers rebound. I was booked on the inaugural flight last Sunday but after WN cancelled all flights back into Dallas I had to cancel because I needed to be back same day.

      @AListFlierKris  3 роки тому

      It is. They’re gradually converting them from the blended winglets to the split scimitars.
