    Great job!
    I believe that the axle is upside down though. It has a bow in it that's supposed to be up, so that when you load it with weight, it springs to be straight. I doubt there'll be enough weight on it to bow them, but you'll probably see tire wear with the axle upside down like that. Great job otherwise!

    Great welding video love the trailer. This is what me and my brother built. 2 triangle shape rails standing up with a bar on top connecting the 2 welded on a kit trailer we made 8 support bars 10 inches long welded to the rails 4 on each side covered with foam tube with 8 - 1 inch x 6 foot ratchet straps attach to carry 4 kayaks at an angle with room on the inside to put a floor to carry other stuff we put our pvc pipe rod carriers on the inside of the rails. Than we in close the inside with expanded steel grate with a triangle shape door at the back that open down a locking latch at the top. To keep our stuff safe while we're out fishing.

    You all should’ve run the wires for the lights inside of the tube/frame. It would’ve protected the wire for the lights. And since you mentioned tractor supply they sell all those brackets and everything that you fabricated.

    I use to run one of those Lincoln plasma tables if you want a really close to straight edge run the machine with your tip .05 from the surface of the material (I've cut up to 3/4 in. Thick steel at that height) I've cut 1 in. Before but i haven't found the sweet settings for it yet

    Yinz should grab some pool noodles (the hollow ones) and split them then run them over the round bar the Yaks are sitting on. Steel on the plastic will rub and mark the yaks, the pool noodles will act as protectant and shock absorber.

  • @philipthrasher
    @philipthrasher 3 роки тому

    My only concern is where the box tube tongue angle pieces connect to the rectangular base frame. That's a lot of pressure on a small amount of weld. Would be a good idea to weld some flat pieces there to add some extra reinforcement. You could cut out a custom shape on the new plasma.

    Tip for backing up your trailer. Take your hand and grip the bottom of the steering wheel with your fingers going on top not the bottom of the wheel. Now turn the steering wheel in the direction you want the trailer to go. It works every time.

    With the correct technique and correct settings TIG and MIG are both equally strong. Done incorrectly both of them can be shit as well. There are going to be a lot of 'purists' (ie: welding hipsters) that say TIG is stronger but it's really not. It's cleaner, and sometimes easier, but that's about it. If anyone wants to claim MIG isn't as strong, tell me why the frames for the largest dump trucks in the world are MIG welded. Look it up. If it's good enough for the frame of a 1.3 million pound vehicle, it's good enough for your trailer.

    I had, and loved my Lincoln welder, but it was one of the many tools stolen from my garage while I was down at the VA hospital having my neck fusions checked last year. they used my shop carts to steal almost all of my tools, and quite a bit of materials. 40 years of wood working and metal working tools gone. I hate tweakers

    Watching the video I didn’t see where you mentioned what type of tubing did you use for the bunks. I’ve seen another video content where they used EMT. Can’t find that very cheap around here. Even the thin wall emt is around $40 for a 10’ section. Did you used standard steel(black pipe) on this build for your runners? Something else just occurred to me, are you branching out into metal work since you would have to take out a second mortgage on your house to buy lumber these days. It probably cost less to build that trailer than to make a bathroom vanity.
