@@maggiemae9099 Don't I have a right to my own opinion like everyone else according to the American Constitution? Don't other people have a right to be intrigued by God's word if a mention of Him comes up? If so, I don't think you have any right to try and stop me from speaking my mind just because my beliefs as a Christian differ from you as an Atheist. I as a Christian think what the Parents and brother in this story did is unacceptable and not Christlike. Christ wouldn't have turned His followers away for making mistakes, He'd forgive and helped them if they asked Him. I'd do the same thing He would, but I wouldn't wait years later. As much as I like to see families reconcile with each other, I do believe that such parents can't be trusted if they have an evil spirit in them, which is clearly evidenced on what happened to OP. It all depends on the fruits people reveal in themselves and that's how you can tell if someone is a genuine Christian or not. Besides, I'm doing what I'm supposed to do as a Christian, and it is to witness to anyone who'd listen. If my words offend you so much, you have every right to ignore them. I'm not going to shove or force it down your throat but like me, you have free will. It's your choice whether or not you want Christ in your life.

It blows me away just how VIOLENT narcissists become when they don’t get their way. Her own brother had no qualms over attempting to beat a pregnant woman. Her parents had no issue with it either. Good on her husband for stepping up since day one, and if the situation weren’t so awful, I bet there’d be satisfaction in bringing the beat down on them. OP's parents are abusive & controlling. I'm fairly certain the reason they flipped out was that they were worried the now husband WOULDN'T leave her & she would have support to stand up to them & an out from under their control. They were hoping now she's pregnant again she's vulnerable enough for them to control. Of course they don't like the husband, he shows OP what love without abuse looks like.

It tracks if you look at it from the perspective of them making it all about themselves. They were afraid she'd be a single parent and how that would reflect on them so they demanded she terminate, as quietly as possible no doubt, which would help maintain their image or they'd disown her and so remove her from the equation completely. To them it makes perfect sense and requires no explanation beyond what was given. Also you only need look at how the reunion went to see how much they think they're the center of the universe.

@@Vipre- Exactly. There's an old 'reform school' at the edge of the town I grew up in where early 20th century parents would send their wayward daughters when they got pregnant and they either couldn't find a bad alley abortionist or didn't want to take that risk. Not that the reformatory was without risks. A lot of girls and infants died there and the records kept on the deaths were *abysmal.* Many weren't even collected by their families, so they were left in poorly marked graves in a small field. When the reformatory closed, the field with the graves was forgotten, the markers rotted away, and the site was overgrown. About a decade ago, it was rediscovered and cleaned up, but no one knows who was buried where or even how many.

Prediction: The only factor that’s different between the two pregnancies is that one child was conceived out of wedlock and the other wasn’t, so I’m worried about OP’s parents treating her daughter like a bastard and showering the new baby with their love…
After update: it’s probably a good thing that nobody besides the parents will know what their intentions were. I wish nothing but the best for OP, her husband and her babies.

I can respect a principled pro-life stance if it is accompanied by a solid understanding and availability of birth control. Being pro-life only really makes sense when the underlying issue is unwanted pregnancy. You do not solve that by teaching abstinence, human nature being what it is, especially where hormone driven teens are involved.

I raised you." "I gave birth to you so you must do as I say." "You should be grateful to have me as your mother/father/parent." and "I'm your mother/father/parent. You will respect me." really annoy me. Just because you bring a child into the world doesn't mean you are entitled to your child's success or happiness. "Sigh" 😳 Entitled parents are the worst!
