I don't think Starmer loses any sleep over those new Tory leaders.
The biggest problem they have is all the 'center / center-left' Tory MPs got booted out. So the only MPs left are the more right wing which turn most non-reform voters off.

This argument is always one sided. There can be no doubt that Hamas instigated the recent conflict in Gaza. The proof is to ask if those killed in the war and the destruction of Gaza would have happened if Hamas had not attacked Israel last year. In fact it seems that whenever there is a glimmer of a cease fire, Hamas launches a few rockets into Israel.
Hamas seems determined to trigger a regional war in the hope of achieving its ideological goal of the destruction of Israel. To this end, Hamas seems willing to make religious martyrs out of all the people of Gaza. It is certainly not bothered by the prospect of sacrificing them for the cause. This is not in any way a defence for the Israeli government, whose right wing has seized on the opportunity for a Gaza land grab, and a final solution to its Palestinian problem. In that respect, both sides are itching for an all out war, with the Israeli far right expecting the US to fully support its war. .
In my opinion, the UN missed an opportunity to nip this conflict in the bud, by failing to condemn the actions of Hamas more strongly in the beginning. One must suspect that Iran was behind the planning of the October attack by Hamas, in full knowledge of what would follow. Hamas kicked the hornets nest, and what followed was a predictable inevitable reaction.

    • @nigeljohnson9820

@@Britishrailwaystories there is no contradiction in my post. You confuse the Palestine victims with Hamas. It is a simple fact that those killed in Gaza and the destruction of Gaza would not have happened had Hamas not attacked Israel last October. I am simply placing the blame where it belongs. There is an unholy alliance between Hamas and the right wing of the Israeli government, both sides want a wider war, admittedly for different reasons. The puppet masters of the disaster are in Iran, who are cynically manipulating the conflict for their own ends.
In the middle east there are no good guys, just religious zealots and vested interests. I maintain that Hamas has been tasked to stoke the conflict, as each time there is any risk of a truce, Hamas does something to fan the conflict. They pointlessly fire rockets into Israel, or, like today, launch suicide bombing attack. Such attacks are pointless, since they have no chance of doing any significant damage to Israel, they just provide a justification for the Israeli government's actions.
What is the point of Hamas retaining the Israeli hostages, they obviously do not act as a human shield against IDF attacks. They are not a bargaining chip, as the Israelis do not respond to blackmail. Their captivity is counter productive to the Palestinian cause, as Israel can always justify its actions by referring to the hostages. They are held illegally as a war crime to ensure that Israel continues to fight. Hamas seems to relish publishing the numbers of Palestinians dead and injured, making a point to emphasise the demon and children in that number. They are using the innocent victims to further their political goals and those of their masters in Iran. After all that is where the Hamas leadership hides out. Absent from the protests to end the war in Gaza is an attribution of blame on Hamas and their masters in Iran.
I say again Gaza would still be standing, and those killed in Gaza would still be alive now were it not for the cynical action of Hamas.
      .
