    Nice! Glad I found your video. I just bought the same shed in the 7'x7' size and it is in pieces in my back yard. I was looking at aluminum angle pieces in Lowe's today and thinking about putting them in all 4 corners. But now I think I will use your idea instead. Thanks for posting bro. I'm also in FL and don't want this shed blowing across the yard.

      Mine stood up to a direct hit with Hurricane Sally. Sally made me aware of a few weaknesses with my design though.

    Hello That is very nice. I just put together a craftsman/ suncast 7x7 shed on a 2x6 platform for my girlfriend. The roof gave us a little trouble because you really have to pull everything together and screw in those 1” long screws. I’m looking to strengthen the walls and probably do the same with this one. You have to. There’s really nothing giving it that much support. Nice video

    Bro this is the best and simpler set up Ive seen on youtube. You said you would do more of shelving , where would you put it on top or bottom?. I assume bottom since there is no more wood towards the ceiling...

    Great video Jamie. Just wondering how deep the shelf is across the back? I was thinking of putting a 2 foot deep shelf in mine, but that may be too much. Maybe 16-18 inches would be better?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 роки тому

      Mine is 2ft. I used 3/4 inch plywood with 2x4 backing across the front. The other 3 sides sit on top of the wall studs so it is supported on all sides completely.

    I finished framing and shelving my 8x7 Suncast shed using your video as inspiration. I completely framed the entire inside and put two shelves on each of the left and rear walls. The right wall I put up a garden tool holder. This thing is solid! The last thing I need to resolve is the issue securing the door on the right side to the frame with L brackets. You mentioned around min 3:10 another video. Can you post a link? Or what size L brackets and where did you purchase them? Thank you!!!
    Actually, I figured out the L brackets. I used a 4” on the hinge and a 5” on the frame. Got them at Home Depot. Pretty easy and my door is much more secure.

    This is a great modification. I have the same shed in a 8x10 and I just bought all the wood and hardware to do this. Modeling it off of yours. Did you fasten it to the back wall at all? If so, how did you do it?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks! I did not fasten it to the back wall, only the 2 side walls. If you take a look at my hurricane aftermath video you will see it held up well and the only thing I would change is to tie the framing in to the front doors, which I did on one side, but not the other. • @jayryan7473
    @jayryan7473 3 роки тому

    Why do I see light coming through the corner at 2:25? Two panels shouldn't join each other in the corner. I thought they make one solid piece that bends around the corners so there's no potential for rain coming in. Would it have been easier to use stronger steel shelving brackets for about $1.50 each instead of small chunks of 2x4 underneath?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  3 роки тому

      The corners overlap so you might be seeing through the price that overlaps. It is thinner. It does not leak at all in the corners. You could use metal shelving brackets, however the strong ones that are shaped like triangles take up a good bit of room under the shelves and don't allow as much room to stand stuff up. This is why I went with wood. I also already had this wood so it did not cost me anything to make the supports.
