When I was a kid in Refugio Texas back in the 70s my dad got us a bunch of rabbits and a rabbit hutch. We named each one of them enjoy feeding them and taking care of them. Every once in awhile my dad said one or two of them would get out and then that night we have fried chicken. Being a little kid you just didn't put two and two together. Now that I'm in my 50s one of my neighbors has a ranch down in the valley. That's just South near the border of Mexico. He brought us a bunch of bunnies that he had shot on his property. So I got on UA-cam and I found this recipe, this one right here. I cannot tell you how awesome this meal really is. Wow, one of the key parts to this particular recipe is the Colman's mustard, I've never tried it before and wow so much flavor. This dish takes some time to cook but the flavor is awesome. So from the great state of Texas I thank you. Bone appetit...
Have made this several times now & it's a winner ever time! You could start a new religion with it. A friend has as well, and earlier this week made it with chicken and threw in some mushrooms as well. Wonderful, and so easy. Thank you for sharing you skill. You are a national treasure. No. Wrong! An INTERNATIONAL treasure. Thanks again, Sir.
this dish is fantastic, I prepared this for my wife's family in Louisiana. I received the ultimate complement when my wife's Cajun cousin drank the leftover sauce from his plate.
Just made this absolutely wonderful I’m a lifelong hunter but my wife has always refused rabbit. She couldn’t resist the smell, took a bite asked for a serving and took seconds! Thank you sir!
It's been one hour and I just flipped my rabbit, and threw it back in the stove. Gave it a taste, and HOLY SHIT....this is amazing!!! I've never had Colemans before. Will be on hand at all times! King of mustard! Ordered more rabbits from the butcher I know, $2 a pound. Thank you for what you do!
My husband made this for me years ago after I showed him your video. It's still one of my most favorite things he's ever made. I share this video all the time
I’m late to your party but I feel compelled to tell you this was the absolute best rabbit recipe ever! Your channel has opened a new world for me. I come from Scottish roots but old school, no pride or sharing of their ways. I look forward to trying more of your recipes! Thank you
I’ve never cooked rabbit before but I picked one up from Winco after doing a little research. I landed on this video. I’m in the process of making it right now
I finally got ahold of a rabbit and followed this recipe after seeing the video a few years ago. I was so excited to make this and was not disappointed. My wife even liked it and shes a picky eater sometimes. Rock on Scott! Thanks so much for the vid!
Hay Scott I found some of you best ever rabbit recipes thanks heaps mate . Used many of your other recipes some time back when I was a lot younger. You’ve given me some great ideas with bacon. Much appreciated Thanks Geoff🇦🇺 Oz
The absolute best rabbit I have ever had :) I will write this down and pass along to my grandkids for future generations, it’s that good , thanks man I learn a lot from your videos .
I made this. I was thinking that the mustard flavor would be too strong but it wasn't. This recipe turned out really good. I also made double the sauce because I liked your comment about just having the sauce with crusty bread. We had the sauce with crusty bread for leftovers and it was a big hit. My husband has mentioned a few times now how much he really likes the sauce. I will definitely be making this more often. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
Scott, you put yourself down but in fact, you ARE a chef in every respect. You know butchery, recipes and most of all, amazing sauces knowledge. I've tried every one of your sauce recipes and every one of them works perfectly and taste superb. And you don't need those silly American comments (Rock-n-Roll Baby.!) to be interesting. Nothing wrong with a lovely Worcester accent mate. One day, maybe make a 'Full English Breakfast' for your fan followers. And thanks for the SRP, great teaching entertainment.
I think I’ve done this recipe now about six times and every time it’s like the first time I tasted it: truly amazing! Anyways, thanks for sharing and hello from Canada!
I made this for dinner tonight - absolutely delicious. I saw rabbit at the farmer's market and knew that this recipe was what I wanted to try for my first time having rabbit meat! Tender and the sauce was to DIE FOR! Thanks for sharing!! (I added sauteed portabello mushrooms - yum!)
Made this last night with 2 cottontails and 3 gray squirrels I'd shot. This was absolutely amazing - One of the best small game dishes I've made. Thank you sir!
My partner tried rabbit for the first time a couple of years ago and she loves it. I don't get people that are funny about eating it, when it was a staple way before chickens were on the table. It's so delicious once you get over what I call the 'fluffy syndrome'
I'm lucky that I have a friend who raises rabbits for fancy restaurants in the D.C. area. Rabbit is expensive in the supermarkets, making a luxury of what should be an economical dish. I grew up eating rabbit, but they were wild and a bit gamy.
Well thank you for this recipe . I have two three pound rabbits and been looking for just the right recipe and I have found it. Looks amazing and I am going to cook this next weekend for my family.
I don't think you need to apologise for your presentation Scott, looks great to me and as someone who gets frustrated with fussy presentation anyway I appreciate the rusticness!
Love it Scott- reminds me of the rabbit my grandmother made for me whenever my uncle would shoot a few. I really will try this recipe- thank you for another great one!
Ive been wanting to try rabbit for a while now, and when my chick found it at the grocery store, I found this video. Got the rabbit, and tried this out. Bro! That's some goooood eats! I tweaked it a little using the food that I have available here. I also used all of the meat too, since I just had the one rabbit, for me and my wife. Killer dish! Thumbs up for sure!
I can't believe I'm just finding your channel now. It will be very helpful in the future! Tons of interesting videos and how-to's. I'm a wild game hunter and enjoy trying new recipes and techniques whenever I can. This was a fantastic Valentine's dinner! Cheers!
Thanks Scott! Great recipe! I saw this on you're previous field to fork video and wanted to try. My more attractive half has never had rabbit and thought this would be a good one to start her off with. I was right. I'm allowed to bring rabbit into the house again👍
I've been craving some wild rabbit and this looks like the perfect recipe. Amazing looking dish and a hilarious presentation. I dare say, your best video yet!
Tried your recipe tonight after trying to cook rabbit unsuccessfully. All went well but I have got to find a way of making the sauce less rich. Thanks Chris
Hi Scott, Looks smashing! I will try it for my old mum (85) she loves rabbit, but has never tried it like this, just like me. Thanks for the incredible recipe, it looks so tasteful! B
Omg these recipes look so yummy 😋. I want to say thank you! For these videos on how to butcher and cook rabbit. (I started raising meat rabbits) and yes I am a rookie so I am glad I stumbled across these videos. I am planning to raise muscovy ducks. (3 years down the road) Do you plan to do duck recipes too?! I bet they would be just as mouth watering as these videos.
Hi Scott: Once again you have excelled yourself. I am so pleased I have found your videos as you are really my favourite youtube cook. Your expertise is way beyond mine in many ways but your attitude to food and cooking and your commentary while producing the food is so down to earth and fascinating - clear, humorous and straightforward - thank you 100 times over.
