    Always wash the rice to take out the starch other wise you make sticky rice. I wash the rice till it’s almost easy to see through the water before using. Brown rice needs more water too to cook thouroghly.😊

    I always found it much quicker and less hassle to use the stove top method to cook Basmati Rice or Brown Rice. And others. Ended up donating my 8 Cup rice cooker to the church.

      I grow up cooking rice using a regular cooking pot :-) But the one thing I do like about using a rice cooker for cooking rice is that there is a vent that prevents any water spillage while it's boiling and bubbling inside during cooking, covered. And also, cooking rice using a rice cooker is automatic (once you prepare the rice and water inside), controlled and timed, so less possibility of burning the bottom part of the rice.

    you should rinse your rice first to get rid of the starch. Trust me it changes the flavor

      This rice cooker meets our family's needs, and we still have the same rice cooker to this day. For us specifically, it is reliable.

    I don't have the original measuring cup, can I use a regular cup to measure my rice and my water? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  2 роки тому

      I don't think it is necessary that you only use the original cup that came with the rice cooker. The measurement of rice and water we usually do by ratio.

    How about brown rice ratio?

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  3 роки тому +2

      I haven't tried this ratio as brown rice ratio, might be similar or close? Personally, when I want the white rice more fluffy or tender, I just adjust the water ratio by adding a little more water, but not much extra water as the rice could come out mushy.

    How many cups of rice can you make in the rice maker

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  3 роки тому +1

      That will depend on the size of your rice cooker. Most rice cooker has a maximum fill-line marker or indicator inside, that usually indicates the maximum you can put at one time to cook including rice and water. I highly recommend to stay below that max-fill-line because if you go over that line indicator, there is strong tendency that bubbles while water is boiling (during cooking process) will overflow and could damage your rice cooker unit and possibly risk of electric shock.

    No salt?

    • @Homeycircle
      @Homeycircle  2 роки тому +1

      No salt, as I never use salt for cooking plain rice. I add some salt sometimes when I am cooking fried rice.

    Add 1.5 teaspoons of salt per cup of rice, and 2 teaspoons of butter, when done, stir with a fork
