Hi Gang! LOTS of you will benefit from skipping straight to 17:35 for TurnByTurn Nav & Pt 6: MAPPING: 27:45 🔥🗺️📍🧭 However, the 965 and 265 are sooo similar so those looking for more nuance differences I’ve filmed 31 minutes of diving into as much as I can! 😍 ANY questions please leave a comment and we will get back ASAP. Peace Out 👊🏽
Great video mate. How long did it take to get your watch, I've ordered one from wiggle but it's showing as processing for 4 days. Looking forward to the update when you have had chance to use it. I'm updating from the Fenix 6.
Hey mate! I was lucky enough to get next day delivery with Wiggle so I ordered and a day later it was on my doorstep haha, I must have got in just before the rush haha. Yes mate, I’m nearly a week in now and sooo much to say for the full review already! Its a great watch tbh! If you have come from a Fenix 6 you will notice lots of nuance software differences. Some differences are great and some (specifically in navigation) can feel abit claggy on the forerunner range🤣 Every day so far though I’ve looked at this 965 and thought “dayummm that is a great watch”. I’m getting those same giddy feelings I got when I saw the VivoActice 3 for the first time 🤣
@@KingLifeTale Hi, my watch arrived this morning. Looks great. Just wondered if you had manged to work out if you can use the touchscreen on the map when in an activity? Seems a shame if you can't.
Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos a lot more than more professionally done videos. It's down to earth and far more informative. I had a difficult time selecting between the 265 and 965, but decided on the 965 to 'upgrade' from my 955.
It's comments like these that remind me to keep going ❤️ Thanks mate 🔥 Hope you enjoy using the 965, I'm testing the 7 Pro but definitely miss that 1.4" stunning screen 👊🏽
Thankyou Jack! I’m sure you won’t look back! I even tested the Apple Watch Ultra over Christmas but can wholeheartedly say the 965 has been a far superior experience! Good luck with your adventures! 🌟
Hey there! Just wanted to commend you on a really informative video. You certainly have showcased this watch and what functions it possesses in a way most other reviewers have not. So, well done. Would be great to see what you think about the epix pro gen2 and the 965. I’m coming from a 3 year old vivoactive so I think either will be a significant upgrading. As much as I’d like to go for the epix pro, I was disappointed to find out that it has less pixels than the 965, which seems noticeable in videos comparing the two. Was hoping to see the nylon strap demo. Might be. Another video
Thankyou for a lovely comment and sorry it's taken me a while to reply. Ive been up to lots with completing/recovering from a Spine 268 mile ultra marathon and have just returned from a Holiday in Barbados haha. I can't wait for my channel to grow and I'll always have a focus on properly showcasing my tech not just reading out marketing material. As FlossyCarter would say, gotta keep it REAL for the viewers 👊🏼 I am yet to review the Epix series.. and I think the reason is I can't see a purpose for it for myself. If I want Amoled the 965 is superior as it offers a 1"4 screen in a "medium" casing size of the 47mm Epix. By going for an epix you get a flashlight and a more durable casing. I think if you're looking for "durable" or "ultra" battery life then get the Fenix and give it a few more years before going Amoled. But if you're not fussed about those extra feature definitely save yourself the money and get the my luxurious and premium feeling 965.. feels classy and super lightweight on the wrist. I felt like a boss wearing it and was impressed with the battery life when testing it heavily with navigation 👊🏼 It's a Major-Major-Major GO! The nylon strap video is filmed, edited and ready to post. Im back now from my adventures now. All the best mate 🔥🌟
It's funny how this video is titled after the 965 and most people talk about the 965 in the comments, but throughout the video the 265 looked the more polished option, no bugs/glitches like the 965 and crisper screen (965 seems fuzzy during most of the video).
I think the “fuzzy” screen was more my camera struggling to focus on both of the watches at the same time 🤷🏽♂️ but yeah.. I agree that it is funny how good the 265 actually is and ironically for those people wanting more features it’s probably more cost efficient rather than buying a 965 to get a reduced fenix 7, or reduced Epix Gen 2 which are currently cheaper than the 965 in the UK 🤯
@@ActiveIdeas Cheers! Yeah, also the apparent (big) glare difference of the two that other people noticed was influenced by the relative position of the two watches with regard to the light source in the video. Anyway, thanks again, 265 it is! I do not care about maps, the 15% bigger screen is a plus but ain't worth the extra 200euro. Besides, the 265 will still have 40% bigger screen than my current Suunto 5 and about 1000 times brighter (indoors), so it should do just fine!
Hmm I’m not 100% convinced on that, on my 265 mapping video released a few weeks ago I genuinely struggled to see the screen on a bright overcast day from all angles .. this wasn’t the camera but my own eyes struggling to see it, it was extremely challenging to look at so there might be something to viability thing.. who knows 🤷🏽♂️ On both watches you only have low, medium & high brightness so there’s quite a lot of limitation 🙈Yesss save yourself €200 🙈 That’s a lot of cookies and pizzas🍕(the way I finance) Haha .. good luck on your next adventures 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas Ha, cookies and pizzas no for me, too easy to get to those (and get fat) and that does not fit in with someone buying a EUR 400+ running watch, which means they are serious about running! I'd keep the money to finance a weekend trip somewhere where I can enjoy some fresh fish by the sea:) As for the legibility, oh well, most running testers say it's fine, if I have to change the angle a bit on an overcast bright day, so be it. Otherwise we're back to MIP screens.
There is also the other benefit of the 965‘s display in that it‘s glass does not protrude beyond the bezel like the 265, seems like it would be more vulnerable to smash of walls and doorframes which I am really good at doing.
I agree the Body Battery and HR should sync across. Maybe that is too much data so Garmin with the Unified Training (v2 of physo true up) just focus on HRV, Sleep and some training metrics…
@@ActiveIdeas They now have the idea of primary wearable & primary training device. Maybe you should set the primary wearable back to the other forerunner until it syncs across. Then you can swap as you like. When Unified Training feaure came out recently I started using my Fenix 7 as primary training and wearable during the week. In the weekends I make my Instinct 2 my primary wearable. HRV & Sleep synced between both devices no matter which is my primary wearable.
Yeah, some of the syncing worked fine on my 255s & Enduro 2 tbh so i definitely believe you 😝 I’ll leave the 965 as the primary as I will be keeping it and selling the 265’s shortly anyway.. I’ll just have to be patient 🙈
HRV, Sleep and those other physio true up features will only sync the next day. You will not get the data on your first sync.. That also probably means that if you want the HRV base line thing to work, you'd have to wait 19 days even if it's not your preferred device. So if you did this video the next day, those things will appear to work, though it will be day 1 on the watch.
Good video again thanks! Does it feel / look any bigger on the wrist compared to the 955 since the diameter has increased a little bit? On the videos and pictures where you see them next to each other, you do notice the size increase and the 955 is already pretty big for me so I'm still undecided between these two. This one being a bit more flat certainly is a benefit!
Thanks again Jasper!! 🌟 I don’t have a 955 to compare it to but to the best of my memory it honestly feels comfier than the 955. There’s something about the design of this casing which Garmin have got spot on. It feels less bulky and it might be because it’s a bit more flat that I’m feeling this… also considering the technology & battery life it’s very lightweight. I’d say go for the 965 but install a nylon band 👊🏽
@@ActiveIdeas Thanks! I think I will do that, indeed the 955 was quite thick on the wrist while the 965 is even thinner than my 745, which isn't. Also it looks a bit more premium with that titanium bezel and overall the design is just a bit more smooth so I can totally see how it would be more comfortable, especially at night and with long sleeved clothing. I like(d) the idea of an MIP screen more but after playing with my gf's 265s yesterday I must say that oled isn't actually that bad in practice :) Subscribed and will keep an eye on your channel!
I have been waiting on my 965 now for a month I did not realized that I would have to wait so long for the watch here in the United States. 5-8 weeks is crazy. Can you do a detailed walk through of set up the watch to the garmin app? Thank you!!!
Hey Dorothy! Indeed, waiting 5-8 weeks is a really long time! It’s not much better in the UK either if you order from Garmin 👍🏽 What exactly is it you’d like to see about setting the watch up to the Garmin app? I can absolutely do this, sometimes it’s hard to know what parts to focus on in videos like that. All the best 🌟
@ActiveIdeas Just how to get a custom workout or rep range workout set up on the watch and in the app itself. Im a bit new to Garmin changing from Samsung and Fitbit, so I would like to learn more and catch up. Thank you
I have an idea why Physio TrueUp is not working. Maybe you can try this and report back to see if it works? Set the 265 as your primary watch. Sleep track with it. Once you have synced in the morning, pick up the 965. Does that show your body battery the same as the 265? I could not sleep track with the 955 and returned it. If I get the 965, I want to have the option of sleep tracking with a much smaller watch. Thanks!
I tried both as primary watches and unfortunately the PhysioTrueUp just didn’t seem to be working :/ I don’t know if this is an unintentional software bug or just Garmin restricting how we use our watches 🤷🏽♂️ Only time will tell here 👍🏽
@@ActiveIdeas Really? I thought my idea might work. Had you set them both as primary at the same time? I guess that would not work as you could only have one at a time. My idea would be to set the sleep watch as the primary and the bigger daily watch as the secondary. Not sure if I communicated that in my original post.
You’re right, you can only set one watch as the primary device. The issue with sleeping in your primary watch and wearing your secondary during the day is that if you use the secondary watch for stress, body battery etc (during the day) then none of this will be synced to the Watch you’re sleeping in.. this has repercussions because then the quality of your training readiness calculations will be reduced. The metric “stress history” would probably then show “not enough data” for example. Also during the day if you wanted to check your HRV for example.. then it wouldn’t show up on your watch because you’re wearing a secondary device.. if that makes sense? 🤣 Tbh it seems like Garmin have just made it more complicated than it needs to be. I definitely feel this problem needs an “Apple” approach of just making it work for the customer 🤣😝
@@ActiveIdeas Sounds like you are on top of this one. Garmin needs to figure this one out. BTW, on the 265 did you find that comfortable to sleep with? I would consider the regular sized one. Thanks!
I’m very OCD about sleeping on watches 🤣 But found the 265 large comfortable 👍🏽 If it was my main device I would install a Nylon band on it though to make it lighter 😛
Hi mate love your videos. I’m really torn between these two, the 965 and 265. With my student discount through work, the 265 would be £360 and the 965 would be £480. Is it worth the extra money do you reckon? I rarely go hiking and about to have a baby so me and the wife won’t be going to many foreign cities or unknown places for a while! 😂
Corr that’s a tough one mate! If you can live without the maps get the 265! With a baby on the way you’d be better off with the £120 in your pocket mate! I’d also recommend eBay.. I get a lot of the watches for this channel off there and you might find an absolute steal on one of the watches! All the best with your future my man, hopefully see you on the trails! 👊🏽
@@ActiveIdeas thanks mate that’s really helpful. One question I have is do you notice much between them in size and weight? A few comments I’ve seen said the 965 was just too big and bulky, whereas the 265 was perfect for them. Did you notice anything similar? Tbh I am leaning towards the 965, just for the extra features.
I’m still in the honeymoon phase Victor 🤣 but yes I must admit my initial first impressions for this 965 are far better than 955! 🔥 I have ran into a few bugs still but nothing as serious as the 955. It’s tough though.. with my sport of ultra-running, If I didn’t have this UA-cam channel I’d still be rocking the 955 for its weight, comfort and battery life 👊🏽 Objectively: 965 is better. Ultras: 955 all day 🤣
I didn’t even know this about the Gorilla glass. But when shooting/editing this video i definitely noticed how the 265 was a struggle to read. In my 265 maps video I even mentioned that I would have preferred MIP in that outdoor scenario as I couldn’t see my turn by turn navigation 🤣
@@stephenrobinson4449 All other videos on the 265 say there is absolutely no problem seeing the 265. On top of that the 965 letters/ numbers seem blurry during most of the video, when they look 100% crisp on he 265. Perhaps an artefact of the "anti-glare tech" on he 965. On top of that the 965 showed quite a number of glitches during this video that the 265 did not. 265 seems the better of the two for me.
Go for it mate! I don’t think you’ll have any regrets and at the price of the 265 it is such a bargain compared to the 965 coming in with 98% of the features 🌟 I still think I’m having a better viewing experience on the 965 in terms of the screens but everyone has their own use-case and indoors either of these AMOLED screens are unreal! 😍
Hey Michael! This is a very kind and honest comment. I appreciate it! 👊🏽 I completely agree about blurring the maps. Tbh I’m filming a maps video tomorrow and it’s going to be 30 minutes of in-depth mapping content and absolutely no blurring 🙈 All the best mate 🌟
i saw your video on the fenix 7 vs the 955 and you werent very happy with the software on the 955. are you happier with the 965 than the 955? and also which one do you think is better, the new 965 or the fenix 7? thanks!
Welcome back to another Active Ideas Video!! 😉 Yeah, I’ll be completely honest in that I don’t think the Software Bugs on the 955 were acceptable, and I’m a massive Garmin fan so this was hard for me to admit 👍🏽 It’s a very tough question about the 965 vs the Fenix 7. If I had all the money in the world I would use the 965 for daily wear.. it looks outstanding, holds it own against the AWU, it’s comfortable to wear, it has fantastic training analysis and biotracking abilities. Then I would also own the 7X for its superior software (the fenix software is superior in every way), battery life, better maps/navigation features, flashlight, and ruggedness for big training days, racing, hiking and adventures 🌟 Depends what your use case is! All the best 👊🏽
I will buy my first garmin watch. Should i take the 965 or 955? I really like the amoled display, and I am planning to do trail run next year. Does the 965 really worthed the price and can fulfill my needs? Or should i choose the 955 for the cheaper price? its very difficult for me to decide between the two options.
Ahhh, quite honestly having used the 965 for about a month I couldn’t see myself going back to the 955. You do mention that you’re going to run some trail running.. I think the 965 will be good up to 100km with navigation but if you need more battery life you might have to get the 955 which gave my twice as much battery in daily use 👍🏽 let me know what you decide 🙈
@Active Ideas thanks for your advice, i think i will buy 965 since i only plan for 50k trail running race, so it will be okay for that race, and i dont mind to charge my garmin once or twice a week for daily usages.
You don't really notice a difference.. the 965 although bulkier felt exactly the same on my wrist. Very very comfortable. You will notice a difference in the 265s smallwr version though.. can't even tell I'm wearing that one it's so light and small
Tbh, I didn’t notice too much “smoothness” differences. I don’t know why but the screen touch felt unbelievable on the 265s but on the lager 265 & 965 i definitely noticed lag and bugs more 🤷🏽♂️ I’m not sure if that’s just a mathematical coincidence or if these larger screens are requiring more graphical power and therefore presenting more bugs.. maybe I’m just looking too much into it. To answer, only time would tell 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas bigger screen and more pixel in 265 and 965 but i notice the delay in 965 only in map load cause 265 don't have topo map that why map open fast in general software look smooth in 965 even topo map zoom don't take much time to load
This really could be the case! I saw at the time of this review lots of other people noticing it too.. it also could be the larger 1”4 screen (maybe with higher quality glass) creating a larger sugars area of flat screen (the curves at the edge of the screen are the worst for reflections) which helps with this reduction of reflection
At the moment with normal using and normal training I’m getting 8.7 days on my battery widget 👍🏽 Battery life it much better than the Apple Watch but not as good as the Fenix 🌟
Unfortunately this feature is not on either of the forerunners.. a massive downfall for the 965 🤯 Check out my 965 navigation video where I explain this 🌟🍿
A question about the touchscreen display: if I click on the notification on the home screen (withe the number of notifications received) can I go directly on the notifications or nothing happen?
Hey Cristiano! I just checked this to make sure 100% but yes this works if you hold annny of the icons within the Home Screen you’ll be teleported to that widget and that does include notifications too! 😍
@@ActiveIdeas thanks! Because I always used apple watch and in particular notifications on the watch, and I was worried that with garmin I have to scroll every time the display, find the widget and click. I would like a shortcut to see rapidly the notifications arrived. Is it ok for you garmin 965 for notifications?
I completely get you! 🙈 The handling of notifications on the 965 is good BUT on Fenix/Epix it’s sooo much better .. with the touch screen you can swipe notifications away to delete them for example. On 965 you have to click, then click again, and then click clear. Okay for one or two notifications but not great if you have 30 🌟
Keep your ears pealed .. I have absolutely no “intel” here to support this but I have read in places on the old web that a new Epix is coming out soon.. it might be the sort of Watch you’re looking for (AMOLED screen, no bezel, flashlight, great handling of notifications) .. this is just speculation though 🙈
Does the compass reliably point in the right direction? The one on the Fenix 7 has a hardware flaw that makes it unusably inaccurate, so I'm looking for a Garmin alternative. But for people who need a compass, is the Suunto a better option?
Hey Scott! The compass seems to be working fine on all of these x65 models so you should be good with these for more hardcore navigation. There is an option to calibrate the compass if you suspect something is off. My Fenix 7s had an excellent compass though so maybe you had a faulty device? I definitely used mine to navigate 100’s of miles with no issues. Suunto is undoubtedly a fantastic option though and their compass 🧭 app is much more customisable where you can manually account for Magnetic declination for example or take bearings with extra distance/elevation inputs.
I really fancy upgrading to a 965 from my old 735xt but how would the fact that I can't/wouldn't really want to wear this watch at work as it would get battered in my job affect my stats? If I wore my older one during this time would connect link any relevant/useable data into the new watch? I also prefer a nylon strap any recommendations?
Hey! Check my video “Garmin UltraFit Nylon Strap | FULL REVIEW” where I show the 955 band (link is in the description of that video). I highly recommend this watch strap off Amazon, it’s just as good as Garmin but at a 1/3 of the price! I wish I could answer your question about physioTrueUp but the truth is I don’t understand it.. I’m fairly tech savvy and it just seems to work sometimes but then not others. As the 965 has a titanium bezel I would suspect it to last 3 years of extremely heavy-use easily, I bashed up my metal bezel vivoactive 3 for years on end (with a screen protector always installed) it was in a fully functional condition.. even managed to sell it on eBay for a good price so you should be okay. Also the button quality on this 965 seems fantastic which can sometimes be questionable from Garmin. I give this a thumbs up for bashing it around ☺️
Hello. I would like to know if you have any idea which screen protector (protective foil) could be compatible with FR 965? There are none on the market directly for FR 965 yet.
@@ActiveIdeas Thanks for reply! I mean.. gorilla glass dx should be very scratch resistant, close to sapphire. Glass protectors are less durable and they tend to scratch easier than gorilla glass itself. Protection foil is also debatable, because it may ruin the user experience. Maybe just run the watch naked..? I can’t decide.. :p
@@ActiveIdeaswill get one of those for sure. 😊 What can you say about the watch adding steps when driving. I think its better then on my old 6x. Edit. Driving doesnt add steps. Yay. Makes me happy.
Hello, To be honest with you I’m more frustrated than ever. I’ve the epix 2 and the AWU and can’t decide which one should I keep. The Epix gives more data but it’s not accurate at all while the AWU is the best accurate watch in the market in every aspect (sleep tracking, heart rate, Vo2 max, Spo2...). With which one should I go ? I’ve no idea. I’ve been watching tons of videos, reading tons of comments and getting tons of confusions. Please help 🙏🙏🙏
I’m a massive Apple fanboy, I’ve got the iPhone 14, the iPad Pro, MacBook Air.. I thought I’d love the Apple Watch ultra but It’s honestly such a boring and featureless “smart” watch; And In many cases, frustrating to use. The WorkOutDoors app feels like an app made in the early 2000’s and the Athlytic app requires a Subscription,, and it’s very basic compared to Garmin’s very comprehensive training analysis tools. I would also argue that whilst the AWU is good at collecting HR data the metrics I was getting from the Athlytic app were wildly off, unusable. Also battery life isn’t good enough to consider this a true sleep tracker if you’re training a lot because you’ll be so worried about when you can charge the thing. Garmin’s elevate 4 HR sensor is plenty good enough for Spo2 (seems to be giving me the same numbers as my medical grade sensors). Also my Vo2Max was spot on with what I’ve seen in the laboratory (I did physiology at university); Garmin claim a +\- 9% error accuracy for the general population but my accuracy is much better than this already very good statistic (I’ve found for more accuracy you really have to go for it in a training session or race). So far I’ve found the 965 to be super accurate 🤷🏽♂️ I say go for the 965.. it’s a great looking device, has plenty of features, great accuracy and comes in at a ‘reasonable price’ (compared to AWU & Epix gen 2). Hope this helps 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@ActiveIdeas Thank you for the answer. Honestly I'm leaning to the Epix 2 and I would like to keep it but since I watched this video ua-cam.com/video/YJRUW0azIqk/v-deo.html and compared it to this one ua-cam.com/video/dDtt98gJjrY/v-deo.html I've changed my mind. May be you've more information than I have. I really appreciate your reply. Thank you!
Trust your gut feeling and get whichever one your body is telling you to get and then you will have no regrets🌟 I would recommend to lean towards the Garmin though 🙈 The AWU is really cool but I really believe Apple are a couple years away from a decent sports-watch.. it’s a great smart-watch but for sports just lacked so many features
Honestly I feel the same as Bilal. I want to buy either garmin or apple watch. I want accuracy of apple watch, but features of garmin (since I dont care about smart features at all). It's very sad that garmin is so bad at heart tracking and sleep tracking - scientific review. I don't know what is better? Having less data, but accurate vs having tons of data that are out of place. How can body battery / training readiness work, when sleep tracking is considered pretty bad and hr for indoor cycling and weight lifting is absolutely unreliable? Just sad. Garmin probably just want us to buy chest strap with watch together. I just want a reliable fitness watch.
It’s a tough one.. on the other hand, what’s the point of a having super accurate data If the watch doesn’t use any of it to calculate your training readiness etc.. and whilst AWU is good with its optical wrist based HR sensor it still doesn’t come close to an actual chest strap if you truly care about data accuracy m 🙈 Hope this helps, all the best 🌟
It feels very comfortable and not too bulky or heavy. I haven’t even installed a nylon strap yet but with one it would feel even better. My wrist size is 16.5cm if that helps but yeah, it gets a thumbs up in comfort for me
Yes i have a huawei 3 pro and older garmin. Huawei 3 is the best build and very nice on wrist becouse it is only 10,9 mm in height even it is 47x47 mm. But Garmin is so strong when it comes to sports software.
Honestly David.. I have an iPhone 14, iPad Pro, MacBook Air.. im an absolute Apple nerd. But I couldn’t stand the AWU and I can’t recommend it as a sports watch. The battery life was terrible (compared to Garmin Amoled). The features were ironically not very “smart”.. for example you’d need to pay for the Apps “Athlytic” and “WorkOutDoors” and they were sub-par to Garmin anyway. Their fitness and health tracking is on par with Garmin from 10 years ago 🤣 GPS accuracy was good but not spectacular. For the money I would say Garmin every day. I think this will remain the case for at least another 2-3 years. Apple will get there, they’re just not there yet 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas thank you. It does annoy me that you have to buy all these separate apps etc. also the Garmin looks better as a watch etc … I guess I just need to take iPhone on a run with me. It’s so hard to detach self from the apple eco system but may well order the 965 and check it out. Also, when I go away I do a lot of off road mountain biking and want to be able to trust the maps etc .. thanks again very useful feedback
@@davidbell4949 Apple purposely doesn’t include all the features so you can pay for those apps and they get a 30% cut from those developers. It’s a scam Lol
I’ve seen many bugs already but this hasn’t been one of them. Might be worth you removing the network & adding it again.. when do you notice it’s not connecting, are you trying to sync activity through WiFi or?
@@ActiveIdeas under settings > connections > Wi-Fi It’s not funding my wifi Same issue info try with connect app. Even if I try to enter the ssid manually it’s giving connection error. My guess is that it has an issue with IPV6 networks. 955 didn’t have this issue
Wow, I’m surprised by this. It’s terrible when technology just doesn’t work like this! I hope you’re able to sort it out otherwise it sounds like this might effect quite a few people also on this type of network 😅
@@ActiveIdeas I tried with IPV6 turned off. Same issue, not sure why it’s not seeing my WiFi network. It does find other networks including my iPhone hotspot.
Sorry mate! This problem is definitely beyond me & worth a message to Garmin, maybe they’ll know what’s gone on or can diagnose a faulty component & send you a replacement and go from there 👊🏽
It absolutely can, check out my latest 965 video which is completely dedicated to navigation.. if you skip to the end you’ll see where I demonstrate this 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas ok thanks which Watch do u think is better between this and Apple Watch 7 / Samsung Galaxy watch 5 pro ? I use both Samsung and iPhone and currently I’m using Garmin venu sq, which Watch should I upgrade to? I do most my workout inside the gym , road running and hiking sometime, please advice, and also which color do u think looks better between the 965 white and 965 black ? Thanks
I haven’t tested Samsung but I did use the Apple Watch Ultra for a few months and thought it was pretty lame. I 100% recommend the 965 as i think the balance between sportswatch and smartwatch is perfect here and the battery life is respectable too 👍🏽 in terms of colour.. just get the black one I reckon, It looks professional so makes it better for casual wear, work as well as sports 🌟
I’m actually returning the black one to get a white one. My plan is to change the strap to a black nylon strap and have a stormtrooper look haha. But the black one definitely looks more professional (I’m not worried about this).
Love the look of the displays and UI. As an Apple Watch ultra user, the displays have been one of the biggest drawbacks for me. These look amazing though. The non-syncing is very bad though
The screens are fantastic! In fact I love the circular 965 screen more than the AWU .. everything just looks spectacular on it.. and using maps truly feels like being spoiled 🙈 Yeah, hopefully I can go the bottom of this standing issue before my full review 🌟
Dayum that’s a long time!? Might be worse cancelling your order and purchasing from a vender with some in stock. In the UK we have the shop Wiggle I think in America you have REI with some in stock 🙈Good luck 🌟

Such a cool question Jeff! I couldn’t remember so I had to check. Unfortunately, you’re right, you can’t use the touch screen when a run is paused. Would be cool if we could turn this on and off 🙈
It does feel like something special this 965 but the 955 is still a great watch for the money 👍🏽 Depends how much you care about battery life and screen quality 🌟
@@craigpringle8803 They are supposed to be available but the only place with any seems to be Wiggle. I really fancy one although I don't really need many of the functions. I do fancy it for the maps as a backup and to help me get back into some form of fitness/training.
The 265 feels like 95% of the 965, if you can justify the price increase for the extra 5% then go 965 every time. If you’re looking to save some money the 265 is a (relative) bargain! 🔥
With 965 garmin set new challenge for themselves and other maker it is had better screen battery than top notch epix 2 plus it is smooth and fast they corrected last year 955 drawback like slowness and unoptimized software
I have to agree! Although, if I’m being honest.. even after a few days of reviewing this 965 I could EASILY make another “what tech reviewers didn’t tell you” video about this watch. It’s definitely not perfect and for the shockingly high price I’ve ran into quite a few issues/problems which make the price questionable. In reality though.. for those that this watch is made for.. there is literally no competition on the market🔥 And it’s a massive step up from the 955’s rocky release 🌟
I honestly thought it was just my bad filmography skills and my ancient 10 year old vlogging camera 🤣 But yes.. the 265 is a very shiny reflective screen and I often struggled to see it 🤣 Indoors it was a non-issue though.. looked great at the gym 👍🏽
I feel like you’re trying to get me cancelled before my channel even got started 😉 🤣 I don’t know.. pirates call their ships “she” don’t they!? But I’d argue the “The Black Pearl” is definitely a bad boy! #PiratesOTC
You can use the touchscreen for maps scrolling on 965 but not on the 265 🙈🌟
@@ActiveIdeas does that include during an activity?
Probably one of the best side by side videos I’ve seen for the two watches. Thanks for making this!
Top man! Thank you Adam! 🔥👊🏽
Woke up to this early this morning. Great video I can't wait for my 965 to arrive. Cheers from the Philippines
Thanks Gabriel 🇵🇭!! You are going to love it, it’s a great device 🔥🌟
Good content mate. Just ordered the 965, coming from an Apple Watch 7. It’s my first ever Garmin so I’m hoping it’s worth the hype!
Thankyou Jack! I’m sure you won’t look back! I even tested the Apple Watch Ultra over Christmas but can wholeheartedly say the 965 has been a far superior experience! Good luck with your adventures! 🌟
Are you happy with it coming from an Apple Watch?
Great review mate. I’m happy with my Epix 2 DLC TITANIUM
Cheers lad! I bet you are, the Epix looks🔥 What do you want to see in the Epix Gen 3?!
@@ActiveIdeas Hi mate I would like to see the epix 3 same size as the enduro 2 and solar if feasible on an amoled.
Have you seen the rumours!? An “Epix Gen 2X Pro” coming very soon apparently 😍
Very informative video. Cross-data sync of HRV and other stats should be the by-default operation.
Thanks mate! 🙏🏽 Yeah I agree
Very comprehensive! Thank you.
An absolute pleasure John 🌟
As FlossyCarter would say, gotta keep it REAL for the viewers 👊🏼
I am yet to review the Epix series.. and I think the reason is I can't see a purpose for it for myself.
HUGE THANKS!!!🙂
HUGE THANKS to you! 👊🏽🌟
Thanks for review. I waiting to get mine. It’s delayed in India
Hello there Bijender from India 🇮🇳! You’re going to love it 🌟 Hopefully the delays don’t last too much longer
Even after a few days not one of these metrics seemed to sync onto both which was weird lol 😂
@@ActiveIdeas the HRV and Sleep data should sync. You may have the 19 days HRV on one device before it starts syncing.
It’s day 22 now of owning the new forerunners & data collection 🤷🏽♂️ the 965 is only on day 7 of being a primary device though 👍🏽
Well done, been looking forward to this side by side. Mind doing an overview of swapping in a nylon quickfit band?
That video is coming tomorrow 🌟 Already filmed 👊🏽
HRV, Sleep and those other physio true up features will only sync the next day. You will not get the data on your first sync.. That also probably means that if you want the HRV base line thing to work, you'd have to wait 19 days even if it's not your preferred device. So if you did this video the next day, those things will appear to work, though it will be day 1 on the watch.
Unfortunately even 4 days later none of these metrics were syncing onto both devices 🤷🏽♂️ Thanks for the comment Wari 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas not sure what's happening then, works between my various devices. Oh well
such a helpfull video thanks alot!
Glad I could help! 🔥👊🏽
I like(d) the idea of an MIP screen more but after playing with my gf's 265s yesterday I must say that oled isn't actually that bad in practice :)
Subscribed and will keep an eye on your channel!
Thank you
Im hoping this week my watch will be here
Have you been enjoying the 965?!
Great review, in which format does gps give you coordinates ? Like LatLon, MGRS etc ?
Check my latest video “965 navigation” where I dive into that 🌟 Thanks for the comment Pan!
@@ActiveIdeas Thanks for such a quick response. Gonna watch your video.
An absolute pleasure my friend!
I hope it helps 🌟
Hi! Do you prefer the 965 over the 955 solar? Thanks for the video! ✌🏻
Ultras: 955 all day 🤣
@@ActiveIdeas MIP displays are so much better and readable in outdoor activities !
This also to consider 💪🏽🔥
Mines arriving tomorrow :D
You’re going to love it!!!
@@ActiveIdeas thanks for the indepth on how to use the watch as only run in miles 🤣
🤣🤣 It’s all about the miles and not the km’s
@@ActiveIdeas can you change the activity screens aswell
@markhill8590 yeah the 965 is completely customisable when it comes to activity screens 😍
Thanks so. Is the reduction in the level of glare from the 265 to the 965 as noticeable in hand as it seems on the video?
Yes on 965 it's Gorilla glass DX .. n on 265 it's standard gorilla glass
@@ActiveIdeas Yes I have tried the 265 and the glare was noticeable , I was quite surprised in your video how much less glare the 965 has!
Good job.👍
🔥👊🏽
Great video! How about battery life during navigation activity? How much % battery per hour?
Just going for a run now mate! I’ll load up a map and report back 🌟
I really like your content and wish you every luck in growing. A 9/10 review. You lost a point for blurring the maps and navigation.
@@ActiveIdeas thank you for your reply, you really do a fantastic job. all the best
Cheers 🌟
You’re making the better decision 😉 Good luck with your adventures
@Active Ideas Thanks, good luck for you too. You really helped me to make decision for my first garmin watch
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
great video
Great comment
In terms of comfort, the 265 is lighter and a little smaller. Do you notice a difference in comfort?
You don't really notice a difference.. the 965 although bulkier felt exactly the same on my wrist. Very very comfortable. You will notice a difference in the 265s smallwr version though.. can't even tell I'm wearing that one it's so light and small
How smooth is screen touch between tow i feel u put some pressure on 265 and some time repeat touch to get response from screen
Revisiting this review and noticed the 965 is quite a bit less reflective than the 265 side by side.
Higher grade or gorilla glass?
This really could be the case! I saw at the time of this review lots of other people noticing it too.. it also could be the larger 1”4 screen (maybe with higher quality glass) creating a larger sugars area of flat screen (the curves at the edge of the screen are the worst for reflections) which helps with this reduction of reflection
What about autonomy during a normal training week (with some battery saving options but not extreme)? 3 days ? A week ?
At the moment with normal using and normal training I’m getting 8.7 days on my battery widget 👍🏽 Battery life it much better than the Apple Watch but not as good as the Fenix 🌟
Do either of the 265 or the 965 have the lock heading function on the compass or is that not on any of the forerunners?
Okay for one or two notifications but not great if you have 30 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas ok I understand, probably I will go with Applle watch 8.
I give this a thumbs up for bashing it around ☺️
l have 735xt and am planning on upgrading!
Did you upgrade?
Hello. I would like to know if you have any idea which screen protector (protective foil) could be compatible with FR 965? There are none on the market directly for FR 965 yet.
I’m looking myself mate, doesn’t seem like any fit properly .. I’ll try some out and have a video out by next week 👊🏽
What did you decide to do? 🙈
Ok. So the watch leaves a mark on my arm that takes hours to disappeare. Will that get better over time?
What’s causing these marks? Is it the strap or the heart rate sensor?
@@ActiveIdeas the ♥️ sensor. Its a little bit better now during the day. Guess i must have slept on the arm lat night.
Make sure to loosen for sleep and highly recommend a nylon strap for more comfort to avoid stuff like this. All the best mate 🌟
@@ActiveIdeaswill get one of those for sure. 😊 What can you say about the watch adding steps when driving. I think its better then on my old 6x.
Edit. Driving doesnt add steps. Yay. Makes me happy.
Driving doesn’t add steps!? This is MASSIVE 😍
Hello,
To be honest with you I’m more frustrated than ever.
So far I’ve found the 965 to be super accurate 🤷🏽♂️ I say go for the 965.. it’s a great looking device, has plenty of features, great accuracy and comes in at a ‘reasonable price’ (compared to AWU
& Epix gen 2).
How big is 965 on your wrist? Good to know if it looks to big or better buy 265.
🌟
I have been trying to decide between AWU and Garmin for weeks. I keep thinking I have decided then pause…😂
@@ActiveIdeas I have subscribed. One more question if I may? 965 or Epix ?
@@davidbell4949 Apple purposely doesn’t include all the features so you can pay for those apps and they get a 30% cut from those developers. It’s a scam Lol
@@ActiveIdeas so narrowed it down to Epix 2 or 965. Epix is on an Easter sale for £630!
Did you have any issues about connecting to Wi-Fi? My 965 doesn’t see find my wifi network where 955 had no issues with the same network
I’ve seen many bugs already but this hasn’t been one of them. Might be worth you removing the network & adding it again.. when do you notice it’s not connecting, are you trying to sync activity through WiFi or?
@@ActiveIdeas under settings > connections > Wi-Fi
It’s not funding my wifi
Same issue info try with connect app.
Sorry mate! This problem is definitely beyond me & worth a message to Garmin, maybe they’ll know what’s gone on or can diagnose a faulty component & send you a replacement and go from there 👊🏽
Does the (watch size 42m 265S ) fit on 22mm yellow bracelets?
I believe it is 18mm unfortunately
I want this but it says it’s not available anywhere!?!?
Where are you based mate?! UK?
@@ActiveIdeas United States
Oh wicked! I thought REI.com were shipping already?
I found the large screen sizes injure my wrists and I’m better with a 245 screen size
Yeah! I wouldn’t want any bigger than the 965.. this watch with a nylon band is great.. in fact it may even be lighter than the 265 🤯
@@ActiveIdeas nice!
🌟
Can u do navigation on 965 with maps? Like if I’m searching for restaurants will it direct me there without phone ?
@@ActiveIdeas but now the problem is in my area there is only white that’s available…does the white look too plastic and ugly ? 😮💨
How is your wrist width and circumference Br?
My wrist size is 16.5cm let me quickly go measure my width 👍🏽…
Waiting for my 965 .. on pre-order waiting period of 3-5 weeks :/
Dayum that’s a long time!? Might be worse cancelling your order and purchasing from a vender with some in stock. In the UK we have the shop Wiggle I think in America you have REI with some in stock 🙈Good luck 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas i stay in India..265 n 965 r noy even launched here i guess launching in May 2023 but price going to b high..around 70k .. where as m pre ordering it from Garmin USA site at my relatives places der who going to visit India soon
What watch did you go for Anuj? 🙈
Does the touchscreen not work when you pause a run??
Such a cool question Jeff! I couldn’t remember so I had to check. Unfortunately, you’re right, you can’t use the touch screen when a run is paused. Would be cool if we could turn this on and off 🙈
@@ActiveIdeas that’s crazy,because i can on my fenix!Thanks for your help
Yeah I still think there are some massive differences between the top end forerunners and the bottom end fenix’s that are annoying 🙈🤣
@@ActiveIdeas i like the bright screen so im going to use the 965!
It’s been a joy 🙈 Join the club
Should I upgrade from 955.
It does feel like something special this 965 but the 955 is still a great watch for the money 👍🏽 Depends how much you care about battery life and screen quality 🌟
Yes! And you should sell the 955 to me for 100 euros.
When are 965 available?
What country are you in Craig!? 🧭
@@ActiveIdeas 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
@@craigpringle8803 They are supposed to be available but the only place with any seems to be Wiggle. I really fancy one although I don't really need many of the functions. I do fancy it for the maps as a backup and to help me get back into some form of fitness/training.
965 or 265 ? Runing 🙏🏃♂️
The 265 feels like 95% of the 965, if you can justify the price increase for the extra 5% then go 965 every time. If you’re looking to save some money the 265 is a (relative) bargain! 🔥
So you’re recommending the 265?
Honestly.. if you don’t need TOPO maps then Yesss.. 100% 🌟
Amoled in 265 lost it is amazingness cause of glare and reflective 965 screen so cool
Somebody said on Garmin's forums that the 265 looks like a disco ball lol. They really ruined the screen with the tapered edges.
I honestly thought it was just my bad filmography skills and my ancient 10 year old vlogging camera 🤣 But yes.. the 265 is a very shiny reflective screen and I often struggled to see it 🤣 Indoors it was a non-issue though.. looked great at the gym 👍🏽
Does she identify as a bad boy or a she? Or is it a He? I am confused, you've said both in the first three and a half minutes.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Why can’t she identify as a bad boy? 😉
@@ActiveIdeas Ha ha! Surely it is either she, he or it. 🤣
I feel like you’re trying to get me cancelled before my channel even got started 😉 🤣 I don’t know.. pirates call their ships “she” don’t they!? But I’d argue the “The Black Pearl” is definitely a bad boy! #PiratesOTC
she ?lmao
Don’t 🤣 I’ve already been called out for this 🤣🌟
