Jim, I agree cars have a vibe. The old timers used to say. Take care of your car and it will take care of you. My late wife’s car is a gem. I keep it up and it takes good care of me. At 265k it’s smooth and drives like a dream. Thank you Jim. I grew up with folks like you.
Sandy has got to be one of the cutest dogs I have ever seen. She has the cutest smile and seems to be as happy as she can be. Looking forward to the detail video!!!!
When I was a kid, my folks had a 74 Pontiac Grand Safari wagon with the clamshell rear door. It also had the rear facing seat in the back. Good memories.
@ oh I bet! I wondered if you had a channel after your appearance in dalton’s tahoe video, and im glad you started making videos. Welcome to UA-cam my friend I wish you the best
We all know what you were thinking when the gas tank fell you couldn't say it but we did lol. Great video very enjoyable and the tip on hitting the tab on the front brake pad I learned something new thanks.
I'm also a big car guy, but living in Germany. I like your calm talking and explaining of things. You seem to give this Safari a really good care. Keep on making this entertaining videos. I owned around 30 cars so far. The most comfortable ride ever was in my 1985 Pontiac Parisienne, I loved it. Greetings from Bavaria.
Also I like that you engaged with the audience in the vid and chatted a bit and thanked people and what nots! We love that sort of interaction with the channels we follow. Well done! ❤
There is nothing like a good old station wagon it's awesome to see you bringing life back to the old girl it would be awesome if the auto makers would bring them back such great wagons
In the fall of 77 we ordered a Grand Safari I was 14 my dad let me pick the options 400 posi rally gauges and wheels cornering lights power everything. 3rd seat Martinique Blue. The order sheet was 2 pages. What a car ! Delivered in November first drive to Miami Beach from NY a month later it was amazing. Light years ahead of the 72 Vista Cruiser it replaced. Look for the build sheet in the spare tire well.
One of the first cars I leaned to drive in was a 1985 Mercury Colony Park Station Wagon in 1995 white with wood grain sides all power options including a premium sound with cassette and Ford Sound System Demo Tape in glove box. We brought it from a funeral home that owned it since new it had 85,000 miles. We took it on two 4,000 mile trips out west though the rockies etc, We paid 1450.00 for it.
I've been wanting to get a wagon for years as project car. They don't exist in my area anymore. Jim, I'm glad you were able to bring this old wagon back to life.
We had a green Pontiac Grand Safari fully loaded. I can still remember when my father purchased it at the dealership. It came with a 350. He was going to buy an Olds, trading in his 98, but the Pontiac dealer made him a much better deal, and both wagons were essentially the same vehicle.
@@the-inevitable-jim I found a video of a restored one. It brought back memories. ua-cam.com/video/NOjSb4Qt_Bg/v-deo.html I don't think the green is OEM though. I think ours was different.
It is awesome to see you finally having a UA-cam channel! You would never know that you are just starting out by watching you. Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Love it how you take your time and explain little details that actually matter, when you do this stuff for the first time or don’t have decades of experience :) keep it up! Greets from Germany Jonas
I was just talking with my tattooer a week ago about how she needs a faux wood paneled station wagon. Mostly because the wagons look so awesome but also because it'd be damn convenient.
Jimmy's great that you're creating the front end and everything that you can grease but unlike all the other channels you don't have a spray can say in rebuilding rebuilding rebuilding
To the Inevitable Jim , you can see Daltons influence in your videos. Which is a good thing . Dude your killing it. 2nd video I have watched and your editing is really coming along. You are a natural talking to the audience . Good Job . Subscribed on the 1rst video and always do the like.
31:10 just really enjoying your content and the way you show us how to do stuff and what tools to use and little tips. I think your camera and mics are absolutely fine 👍 Rome wasn’t built in a day
Looks like you got a good one, Jim! My station wagon experience was a 1972 Chrysler Newport with a 440. It was fun to step out the back end in the rain; very predictable. Plus, I could have myself, my friend, and his girlfriend all sitting in the front bench seat and still have room to have the armrest down lol Good times...
Seeing as this is the 1st car in your video series, it should become your official parts runner! Put a protector of some sort in the rear after you detail it and use it to make part runs. That way it will get regular use and be a reminder of your 1st UA-cam experience.
Love them old bouts they are awesome to drive miss them cruisers. Also me Jim it was AWSOME . Gone send my project pics to needed a intake and supercharger for it yet.
Had a 77 Bonneville and a 79 Catalina, both Brentwood brown like your wagon. Removed the ac compressor to do plugs. Never thought of going in through the fender.
Don’t know know if it’s a man thing but I absolutely love wagons my wife hates them but wagons just have charm that other vehicles don’t love the channel I’ve been into cars along time and watching these videos gives me faith to do some of this stuff on my own
@the-inevitable-jim as far as merch is concerned, a black T shirt with the wrench logo from the intro would be great! Or a daily driver shirt with the wagon on it? But I imagine research and development is already all over that . 🤣
I love the wagon jim. I had a 1986 Safari with a olds 350 rocket and lifted it with 31" tires and wagon wheels removed all trim and didn't know how to weld so I took out interior and jb welded pocket change in the trim holes and painted it primer black lol It was my first car.
Hey Jim. Great job on the wagon. What a difference. The only thing I would change is the tail pipe end (exhaust tip). I would cut it back, even with the edge of the quarter panel.
The old gas tank look like the tank I just pulled out of my ‘64 Barracuda. Amazing how a tank can be bone dry, completely rotten, and crumbling yet still reek of ancient spoiled gasoline.

I demo derbied lots of these GM wagons in the 1990's when they were "just an old worn out car". That Poncho is a beauty, keep the videos coming!.
