    The oil in the air box is most commonly from doing wheelies with it. My 2004 50th anniversary does it when either over filled, or if I've been showing off.

    Fox shocks came stock on the predators, my dad had one and said he liked it but always had problems. He raced quads too but I dont think he ever raced the predator, I believe he raced on a trx450 here in Illinois back in the 90s. Was one of the fastest in the state, we have trophys to prove it and he even raced with the current national quad champion Chad Weinen(I think that's how you spell it) when he was just starting as a rookie. Sadly my dad blew his knee out and had kids so he stopped racing, hes still got the skills tho even with his limited knee. He taught me everything I know and now I'm even teaching him things because of these vids. Keep em up!

    Puking oil out the crankcase breather happens when the oil level in the crankcase becomes too high. Since the oil reservoir sits higher than the crankcase there's a check valve to prevent gravity draining the oil from the reservoir into the crankcase. If that valve doesn't seal perfectly for any reason, the oil bypasses the valve and fills the crankcase. What happens is after sitting owners check the oil in the reservoir and seeing it's low (because the oil has drained into the crankcase) they fill the reservoir.

    I own a 2006 Polaris outlaw with the Sam engine as the Predator. I am the second owner but I have owned it for around 10years! It jumped time once and I had that fixed other than that I haven't had any trouble with it! In my opinion the 2006 outlaw is the best trail riding sport ATV there is! I have 18" tires in the rear an 20" tires in the front. It is 4" wider than stock. The engine is stock I don't even have a slip on pipe but my outlaw is the best handling best riding atv I have ever been on! The power is just right. You can have fun and use the power you have!

    It's from a Bad design, (Crankcase vent tube going into airbox), under load a high vacuum is formed in airbox with low pressure in crankcase, which causes oil to be sucked out of crankcase into airbox. Simple solution remove vent tube from airbox and let it vent to atmosphere.

      It's an unfortunate EPA regulation, the only place where you should find oil is in the factory "oil catch can" with the foam as it is a higher performance machine. You will see any car with a big cam or higher compression uses a catch cans rather than a breather out of the valve cover or vaporized oil coats the whole underside of the hood. My Predator has to have a after market catch can because of the cam, compression, and RPM's now turning 8K+, I have a video of when it spun up to 7440 RPM's.

    Hello I just brought off road wheels for my raptor 700 pain in the but to change the wheels as the socket wouldn’t fit in so I had to grind down the socket ect ect basically I was in a rush to do it and the front wheel nuts are wrong very hard to thread on as they have a lock washer I got them on but on the back it snapped of so Iv ordered proper ones but would it be worth taking the front ones of and putting the proper ones on but the ones ok there now are tight af like it moved the hole quad even tho there only supposed to be 45 NM. I used a touq wrench that goes up to 135 and it was tighter than that 😬 jsut because it eas the wrong nut but will it fall of on me but it is literally stuck on there and I don’t want to take it or cause the threads will probably be fucked. Silly me I’m learning 😂 it snapped half way of on the back wheel but luckily I had wheel spaces so I took them of and the original thread was there but what shall I do ? Leave the front ones on there or put the Yamaha ones on but they are basically the same shape there not alloy ones or nothing but there is washers on them aswell.

    @2vintage - Maybe the quad was parked in a full wheelie position. Then leaked out of the crank case to the air box over time. Then noticed it had no oil and filled it before posting.

    Cant use that chimney with a pellet stove, they have to exhaust directly out the back, but they are easy enough to install, especially in shop like yours

    Kero heaters are so cool for how low tech they are and how much heat they put out. Just a fuel soaked wick will heat your small home or garage.

      @@Davido50 I have a few old Japanese kero heaters that use cotton wicks and I use diesel in them. I just have to trim the wick about 3/16" a week when burn quality goes down because of the residue that builds up. I can get a whole winter out of a wick and they are like $10 bucks of ebay if I actually need to replace one. Originally got them for when the power goes out but they work so well I use them whenever the house is chilly. I have a collection now because I cant resist buying them when they pop up for $20 on marketplace because people are scared to use them. I reality they are perfectly safe and csa approved for indoor use.

    Maybe he had it stored in a wheelie position on the rear wheels up against a wall. That's the only reason I can think as to why so much oil was in the airbox like that.

    • @MrATOMBOMB420
      @MrATOMBOMB420 2 роки тому

      No it can have as much as a liter of oil or more in the airbox if it has really bad blow by so just because there's oil in the airbox doesn't mean it was stored on its end

    • @MrZack1497
      @MrZack1497 2 роки тому +1

      That does seem like too much for blow by. Reminds me of the old tractors that have oil bath air filters.

      @MrATOMBOMB420 2 роки тому

      @@MrZack1497 you'd be amazed at how much oil can be built from blow by look at some of the drag cars they have to run a catch can and they literally can drop a couple liter of oil on a run it looks like it was most likely caused by overfilling but if you look at the video when he was starting it just as it fired it popped through the carburetor and if you go to near the end of the video when he was driving it you can hear a pop out the exhaust I've had quite a few of these predators and that is usually a sign of bad vowels all you have to do is perform a leak down test and you can determine if the valves are bad and need to be done or not

    • @MrZack1497
      @MrZack1497 2 роки тому

      @@MrATOMBOMB420 Interesting, I did just hear someone say predators are "sensitive" to overfilling the oil. I just bought one and put a top end on it (used head). I need to do a leak down test, but it does fire right up. I have heard these motors have all kinds of timing/valve failures that end up with the piston crashing into the valves. That's why I got this one cheap - the previous top end had heavy piston and head damage and a cracked cylinder.

      this is actually a common issue on preds of oil in the air box.

  • @christopherpotts8754
    @christopherpotts8754 2 роки тому

    Definitely overfilled too much. Its not hard with the separate oil tank. I had a raptor 700r 2017. I believe you fill oil to owner manual volume. I dumped a qt in the crank case and the oil tank. The manual said let it run for 3 mins i believe, then let it sit another 3 mins and then check oil level. Its easy to over fill. Because the oil goes into the crank case. Then the oil tank says its low. On a raptor you dont thread the dipstick in to check oil level. Ive had honda motors fill up the miffler leaning them the wrong way. So its possibly from storing it.

  • @bretthibbs6083

    for the heater you can probably use a fan in front to heat the garage a lot quicker but maybe not

    • @frankdodson3534

      The fan pointed indirectly at the heater is a good idea keep the air flow slow . I would ditch the kerosene for a ventless wall mounted propane much better option .

    Hey Joe, you may want to buy the stock case saver I just noticed that your not running any case saver at all. You should know by now that you should always run with a case saver never know when a chain will snap! It'll save you from having to tear into the bottom end and having to replace a case half bc there's a hole in it from the chain snapping.
