Finally, someone else agrees that the night feeder is based on a Megaraptoran. I agree, these things would have been scary. Imagine one running after you to simultaneously hug and butcher you.

Okay me and my friend had a theory. Megaraptor was potentially on its way to become Giga 2.0, and MIGHT have been more successful. Megaraptor is without a doubt one of the more successful dinosaurs already due to the little to no competition that Megaraptor had. Megaraptorids only really boomed in population and success due to the Carcharodontosaurids dying out, and they left open MANY niches. However, the one niche none took was Giganotosaurus’ sauropod killing niche. It is highly likely that was the niche that Megaraptorans were adapting towards due to their many adaptations specialized in swiftly taking down prey. What were Megaraptor’s favorite prey items? Baby sauropods. However, we have little to no proof that Megaraptor was a pack hunter. This MIGHT be enough to topple down my theory due to Giga being more successful because of its pack strategy, but again, we have no proof AGAINST Megaraptor being a pack hunter. It’s a 50/50 chance. On the contrary, Megaraptor had those huge claws which would have been exceptional at slicing apart Sauropod’s leg muscles and causing them to topple over. If Megaraptor kept evolving into Giga's niche, it could have very well been just as good- if not better- than Giga. BUT HEY! THAT’S JUST A THEORY! A GAME THEORY!

Not only the fact they probably were intelligent creatures but also the fact megaraptorids could rotate and move their arms with more freedom than any other type of theropod which means they could potentially be able to craft tools if they were smart enough to do that.

The Megaraptorids are actually the apex predators of Late Cretaceous South America, after the extinction of the Carcharodontosaurids, which allows them to grow to such massive sizes, like the enormous Maip macrothorax.
