Fun but slightly disappointing fact: Pyroraptor would have likely not been fiery red in color, since Carotenoids(the protein needed to create red or orange) pigments aren't found in things Pyroraptor would have likely eaten. Carotenoids are only found in plant matter(Like Fruit, vegetables, and algae) and invertebrates like Krill. EDIT: Closest thing we'd get would be the reddish brown we see in Red tail hawks or possibly Red dust bathing, like what's seen in Bearded Vultures
Quickly, Someone draw a Pyroraptor with a scarred left eye and a baguette (Jokes aside, Pyroraptor was the first Dromaeosaur I genuinely put effort into studying. Usually I only studied sauropods)
There's a reason why dinosaurs aren't that accurate in Jurassic park or world... It is because of their creator, Dr. Henry Wu. He designed them, you see, adding additional DNAs here and there to complete the gene sequence, just like he did with the velociraptor pack from Jurassic world... For example he added a DNA of a Black-throated monitor lizard in Blue's DNA which gave Blue the iconic blue stripes...
That's the excuse they always use to make them look like Kaiju monsters, when it fact they just want "MUH SCARY MONSTAH". Jurassic World films are absolute dog tier garbage. The designs suck, the story is lackluster, the animals act like monsters and the cgi is just terrible. The abysmal ratings prove as much. Jurassic Park is where it's at.
There was a recent study that put pyroraptor in a subgroup of dromeosaurs that are theorised to swim. And the one in the movie has webbed feet and is not much bigger that a real one. I would say same length but only slight height increase
Yes! Another person who has watch pod's travels! Pod story was the saddest and greatest episode of dinosaur planet. poor thing didn't know what happened and all of a sudden become god at expense of never seeing his kind again. love you, pod
In all fairness, the reason for the differences between the Jurassic Park dinos and real life dinos was explained in the very first movie. Besides, who can really be scared of a ground based pre bird dino that you could punt through a goal post?
Okay but in Australia they have a Firehawk that uses forest fires to lure out prey. Imagine if a type of dromeosaur did that? And imagine Pyroraptor was the one who did it
I don't remember where I heard this, but I remember hearing something about a specific bird species that will take burning branches from one area of a forest fire, and drop them in another place to spread the fire
There are fire hawks which use lit sticks from natural or man-made fire to drop in dry grass to start fires to scare out prey. I think it's fascinating that they have that instinct
It's believed to be intelligent act,not pure instinct. They've figured out that a forest fire is basically free food for them if they're willing to wait a bit....very similar to tactics we used to use in the stone age
@@emilialittle1002 That knowledge is continued because it is useful. It's an innate response meaning instinct. Like when bison form a circle to protect themselves, it's instinct not taught.
well also in the movie when the Pyroraptor goes under the ice they said that it'd not supposed to do that, it was probably near the ice knowing the bigger dinosaurs didn't wanna be near the thin ice and cold water so it probably adapted to swim like that for deer that fell in the water or they created it to do that so it could survive
The movie should of introduced the pyrorapter when all the fire bugs got out because the fire bugs were falling to the ground which cost a Forest fire and the pyrorapter should of came out from the fire and start chasing the main characters until it fights giganotosaurus until it loses
I was introduced this dinosaur back when i was kid, there was a dinosaur documentary series playing on discovery called dinosaur planet and the episode was called "Pods Journey."
Let's be perfectly honest. If this thing was around right now, we would just make it a pet. Same with any Dino that isn't the size of a house. Humans can pack bond with literally anything.
Pyroraptor wasn’t a dromeosaur, it was an unenlagiid, which are very commonly mistaken for dromeosaurs, but are in fact a separate family of paravian dinosaurs, the most popular dinosaur in this family is without question austroraptor, the whole point of the group is that they are semi-aquatic, stork like piscivores, although they were also very good climbers and probably spent most of their time in trees

That documentary was also my first glimpse at Pyroraptor.
That thing jumping in and out of the water genuinely made me laugh out loud
At least this dinosaur has feathers unlike the other raptors from the previous movies.
Imagine a cold blooded reptile swimming in a freezing cold mountain like covered in ice and snow...
Everyone when the Pyroraptor starts swimming like Michael Phelps: TF?!
I’m pretty sure that’s how regular raptors looked like
Well modern day birds of prey are known to use fire to chase prey out of cover, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume ancient raptors did the same.
