Singer Chuck Jackson Biggest Song ever, Was Any Day Now. Which was my Personal Favorite. Mr. Jackson had a Ballard Smooth Voice. Finding the right material is very hard in the Music Industry. He should have been up there with The Greatest. RIP ALWAYS Mr. Jackson, Great Video 📷📷📸❤❤❤❤

Thank you for your fine tribute to Mr. Jackson! Perhaps he did not achieve the general popularity status of some of his counterparts, but those who knew his music truly understood his outstanding contributions and how talented he really was. His first cousin who grew up with him in the south lives here in Michigan and always refers to him by his given name Charles. 😉

Indeed a great song. He did different versions of it. One was the single version, and another was on one of the Kent Records in the early eighties (probably a studio Outtake), which I knew years before I heard the single version. Timing and intonation are different. I.m.o. the outtake sounds even better!

Thank You, Thank you, Thank you.... I asked you to cover Chuck a few months ago. I did not know he sang with the Del Vikings. I first heard his voice when he sang "Any Day Now" and " IDon't Want To Cry" back in the early 60s. I also noticed that his voice had an effect on women. I said when I grow up, I'm going to sing like that. Chuck used to come to Cleveland, Ohio every year. I bacame an entertainer in the mid 70s. Chuck came to town and stayed in a hotel that I was performing in. I got to meet him and get autographs for me and my mother in law...one of his biggest fans. The next night I did my show. I look back to the doorway and who was standing there but Mr. Chuck Jackson. He toured well into the early 2000s....especially doing soul shows in England and some recording. I was soory to hear that he passed last year. He was a performer with class, grace and soul. Great voice. I still do a couple of his songs as a tribute now and then. I'm 73... He was my idol from way back in the day. May he RIP....Thanks again.

Great story! As far as I know, he continued performing until 2013. Then, his wife passed (who always escorted him), his website no longer got any updates and he basically retired. He sounded awesome, as always, until 2013!

Chuck Jackson came to Pittsburgh in the early 1950s. He wrote the song will that for his girlfriend. He also the 19 60 went to the Apollo Theater Jackie Wilson truly gave him his start wanting him to be a single artist. I met him in 1966. He found out I was his friend Joe Parker's sister I was so thrilled to have him pick me up and swing me around Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh gave him a proclamation. His best friend George Benson got a proclamation also that year on that day. Breast with God my brother Jackie Chuck Jackson❤❤❤❤❤

Why Chuck Jackon calls his tenure with Motown the biggest mistake of his life? He recorded three albums in a short period of time and issued several singles. They didn't sell well but artistically they are far better than anything he has done before or since his stint with Motown. Jackson should have been more patiante at Motown. The Supremes had 12 unsuccessful singles before their first big hit. It is not mentioned that Jackson was later a very good producer. He produced in the begining of eighties an album for Aretha Franklin with magical songs like United Together. The best album of her career.

Mainly due to the fact that when Jackson joined Motown it was during the time when Gordy was focused on certain talents and the move to LA. So at this point the push and whole overall feel that gave Motown its name was basically gone.

    • @1599maybole

Motown had a: Hierarchy. `Tiers.' {Tears?} Gladys Knight said that she & her Pips, were, `second tier,' while at Motown. Despite her great success & excellent productions at Motown. It's also been said, that The Marvellettes were , `Second Tier,' despite their having what I think is Motown's first Billboard, Pop Chart #1 hit, "Please Mr. Postman." And a lot of other great music! Promotion is also very important: This can consist of relationships with key Disc Jockeys, and, cash, "payola," extra copies of records that the DJ can sell, and / or drugs, cars, girls, you name it! `Any Inducement!' A good record CAN succeed without these things, if a DJ likes it, plays it & it catches on with the public! Luther Dixon was also mentioned; while with Scepter / Wand, Luther was very talented and successful! 😁

He just didn't get the right songs. His Life Long best friend, Smokey Robinson, offered to write him songs, but he refused because he didn't want to let the results interfere with his friendship. Fun Fact; (then) Little Stevie Wonder offered him some songs in the hallway, but he didn't take it to serious and said no ...
