6:50 You actually don’t need to mark it, there’s a mark/notch on the right side of the chip and dip socket (the chip holder on the circuit board) which indicates which orientation to insert the chip!
You can actually just unplug the TCM all together, the engine does not need to communicate with that box at all. If you unplug it, you also will not encounter a trans light in the cluster.
OK thanks I did not know that
Thanks for the videos, I thought I had everything for my swap and these helped me figure out what parts I was missing.
Hi,
I'm doing the swap could you explain what I need to do with the TCM?
328i M52B28
@@felipesanchez7823 you can simply unplug it.
@@gagefz you will loose abs if you do that? Or some featuring?
Do you need to do this with obd1 cars?
Hi i didnt remove the chip because and forgot, and the car run great. But today i removed the chip and it doesnt have spark, it cranks only
If the chip is not removed, will the speed be limited?
I swapped engines and manual transmissions
(m44b19>>>m52b28)
Currently, the top speed will falter when changing gears.
I remove the chip in e34 m50 1991 bmw but it doesn't working it just starting and the engine not run way ? Can you explain it.
I’m not too sure how it works on the E 34, sorry I couldn’t help
Yours is a m50 his is a m52 that may be why not sure myself, but on my m50 I left box and didn’t touch it and managed to start up
Mine doesn’t have a chip? It’s a OBD1 1994 e36 it has a tiny ecu
It is from Japan if that makes a difference?
Did you figure it out
I did this on a 1994 325i and I didn’t have to mess with the computer at all, just had to jump the neutral safety switch and everything worked
@@F30taylor you don’t have the problem rpm “hang” when you left the throttle?
@@vicentez197not sure I did it a few years ago and sold the car a while back but from what I remember the car drove fine
@@F30taylor thanks for response! Is very annoying when I left the Throttle the car keep reving for a sec, I read this is a featuring from de auto TCU but if I disconnect de tcu I will lose abs
I just did E36 1995 August build date ZF swap. Took the chip out and it cranked but did not start. Put chip back in and it started
I did a swap to my car but it turned on without problem, i didnt have this removed, i disconected the tdc but the clúster light didnt turn off, i had the Cruise control off sign
my 318is manual has a tcm light, it also only revs to 4500, any ideas?
Hey did you figure this out? mine is doing the same. Wondering if removing the chip will fix it
can not removing the chip cause issues with cold/hard start?
No the chip is for the automatic transmission only
@@ProblemSolverGarage well the previous owner did a manual swap so not sure if they did this
@@Cesar-m7w they must have.
Can you explain, why do you have to remove this chip?
That chip communicates with the automatic transmission, nothing works until you remove the chip, the car won’t even start
@@ProblemSolverGarage im pretty sure, that chip removal is not needed, its just enough to short circuit the wires on the parking, to start the engine. I did this at my e36. After you remove the chip DSC is still working, no red light on the dashboard?
@@konstantinspopovs5672 pretty sure that’s only for obd1 cars
@@tristanstump1605 yeah only for obd1's
@@KIAdarktide Which one needs to remove the chip? Obd1 or OBd2?
Mine is a '95 euro spec 325i. I need to remove?
I typically trust men in overalls
😂😂😂😂
@Konstantins You remove the chip because the car will not start up if it stays in there.
Problem solver, thanks for this video i just bought an e36 myself and was about to do the same thing! i watched donut media do it but wasnt fully indepth like you were so thanks a bunch!
No problem and thanks for watching, and yeah you’re right about the chip
Mine still started up and I haven’t touched the box
