    I'm sure Chance has seen more corruption in the LAPD than he can safely mention. I had a boyfriend who worked for the San Diego Sheriff's department. He came home with stories that kept me up for nights . He hated to go to work because everyday it horrified him of the violence against blacks and our brown people as well as him being a black sheriff. He quit in 6 months and couldn't tell me the last thing he had to witness. God only knows what it could have been . My boyfriend took whatever vexed him to his grave in 2019. Chance thank you for standing up for your beliefs even though there will be a lot of officers who will disagree with you so please be careful . Thank you for your service and thank you Tab for your platform where we can not only laugh, get great recipes and sing and dance but most of all talk about tough topics that plague our community. I have a UA-cam channel but I haven't uploaded anything yet because I don't know what my voice will be or my purpose. This video today was the first to motivate me on figuring out what my platform will be. Prayers of love to you and your family and the world,. ❤🙏💜🙏🌍

    I am a mother of two black men, 27, and 30 years old. They are both finished college and work for banks. Which means absolutely nothing if they are running down the street in hoodies. College doesn't make them better, than any other young black man. Maybe we still do need the Police, but maybe policies need to change. Our skin color shouldn't be a death sentence. My faith in God keeps me sane, and I pray for all the young black men who have been killed all these years. Change has to come!✌️💜

    • @bstung3453
      @bstung3453 4 роки тому +2

      I agree and they dont need to be wearing a hoodie. They can just be beautifully black in their existence. My son is 8 and I am trying my hardest to have him understand what is going on besides the Corona issues. His little has been through a lot in this last 3-4 months. Blessings to you and your beautiful men in your life may they stay safe and healthy. Blessings

      There's no "maybe policies need to change". They need to change, we need to defund the police. In NYC alone, the NYPD has over 6 billion dollars EACH YEAR.

    My husband is a police officer too. We still get stopped by the police. My husband is still asked to step out of the car and put his hands where they can see them. I am still racially profiled when I go to the police station to see my husband. Still black. They don’t care 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @Fannie_Mae

      Karon G he’s never scared of anything. It’s more like he has to be careful of every move he makes. He has to announce he is armed by law which raises a red flag and the cop usually asks him to step out of the car or ask for a license

    • @dm1969able
      @dm1969able 4 роки тому +1

      Fannie Mae, I don't know the proper protocol for being an off duty officer that is pulled over by another officer, but maybe if your hubby would first state that he is, also, an officer of the law, before mentioning that he is "armed by law" that would help.

    • @Fannie_Mae
      @Fannie_Mae 4 роки тому +2

      dm1969able sometimes he does but there has been other times where the officer wouldn’t even let him speak. One particular time I remember the officer was very rude. My husband was trying to say he was armed and the officer was like I’m not talking to you I’m talking to her. (I was driving) it just depends on the person.

    Defunding police doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be emergency services. It means if there is a mentally ill person, a trained social worker will respond. If there’s a sick person, trained medical professionals will respond. There will still be people trained to respond to violent situations but they will be social workers who have expertise in de-escalation. If nurses can restrain violent people without killing them, then there’s no reason the police have to be there.

    • @Candycane88
      @Candycane88 4 роки тому +15

      Nurses for example are in controlled environments with drugs they can administer to calm folks, half the time with cops there too, ever worked in the ER? I have. Also, doesn’t matter who is doing this extremely HARD job, eventually any person can become complacent, un-sensitive to their job, jaded if you will. Anyone and everyone can make mistakes, there is bad apples in social work - shit look at CPS! No matter what, innocent people will ALWAYS get hurt. That’s a fact.

    • @bree6957
      @bree6957 4 роки тому +13

      There are serious changes that need to be made in the policing department, especially in the use of unnecessary force. However, I do not see how a social worker would effectively respond to shootings, murder, or life threatening situations.

    • @melstar7813
      @melstar7813 4 роки тому +12

    Most of my circle don’t want Police gone. We want Police to resolve/de-escalate, to be Peace Officers per se. Not terrorizing the Community that they are there to serve. Most professions have Continued Education and checks and balances throughout the career to keep their jobs. I think there needs to be real Cultural Competency Engagement not a random training that the majority of White People complain/joke about being mandatory trainings.
    This Movement is literally about Black Lives Mattering enough not to continue the thoughts that we don’t even matter enough to live period. The humanity, Black Humanity in America has shown us, is lacking and that must be resolved! The People won’t allow it to return to business as usual.

    May God continue to cover and keep Chance and the entire Brown family is my sincere prayer.
    What we are dealing with is more than a few bad apples. It's a culture. Let's not forget how policing was started: to recapture recently freed slaves.
    Btw, 3 or the 4 officers that dragged the young college students from their car in Atlanta were black. Again, it's a system and a culture of violence toward black and brown people. Officers of color and consciousness pay a huge price for speaking up. My heart goes out to Chance, he is in a extremely precarious position. Stay safe.

    The fact that chance said he tells people to "comply....do what you have to do to live" is incredibly sad. The latter part speaks volumes regarding the police state and how people are more afraid of them than seeing them as a source of help and protection. The oath I thought was to serve and protect. We shouldn't feel like we have to do what we have to do to stay alive when confronted by the police. The reality is even when we do, they still kill us. The fear and anxiety of that alone is enough to trigger anyone's flight/fight response. Here's the thing, the police are not supposed to kill anyone, even the guilty!

      That is truly sad and disgusts me as well. "Do what you have to do to live"?! When you do this, you still end up DEAD. The police are supposed to SERVE AND PROTECT. From what I see, they are the hunters and we are the hunted. Everyone commenting needs to educate themselves on the origins of the police department here in the U.S.

    Thanks Chance! My nephew is a police officer and I am a 60 year old black man and I pray for all first responders especially my nephews profession. I love you guys so much and truly enjoy the videos. Stay strong and I too see change happening around the world. I have as of lately had some eye opening conversations with my white friends that are opening up and talking about racism. The murder of Mr Floyd has been an eye opener to so many people not of color and they refuse to remain on the sidelines and that is in my humble opinion is what is going to be the difference in rooting out the racist element! Stay strong and thank you for your service Chance! Ok love you too Tab!! Lol 🤗🤗🤗🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    Chance had the harmony. I see yall. Defunding the police needs needs a new title for these purposes. It means to reallocate funds into certain social programs such as mental health programs and education programs. Police would still function but they would respond to mental health. Investment in the community would ideally make the community safer.

    Beautiful family, Thank you for having this conversation and giving a point of view from a family, black woman and man and man in uniform. It's hard but these conversations are the start to change and learning that we all need to do.💕
