- Splitscreen co-op was one of the biggest contributors to Halo's success as a series, and Bungie knew just how important it would be when making Halo Combat Evolved. It's a tool that helps bring gamers together, and there should never exist a Halo without it.

We can't have another Halo without Splitscreen co-op. 343 need to bring it back for Halo 7
How did you do those emojis
You can literally play split screen multiplayer on infinite bro 😂
Halo is about MULTIPLAYER MATCHMAKING AKA XBOX LIVE….that’s what made it so successful in the first place.
Not a huge deal of you cant do split screen campaign…. Campaign is literally the single player story mode…..
@@Cryharderfruitcakeshalo campaigns are meant to be co op

I still play split screen with my brother
Aye nice man! I wish I still could with my bro, but he lives in Brisbane now. Splitscreen Halo is the best way to play!
@@FootedGhostonly when you screen cheat
Same here. It's the best
same here. My best friend and I both love halo and each time one of our birthdays roll around we organize a massive halo 4 land party. For me it's the highlight of the year.
WHAT IS BROS NAME
We were extremely fortunate to witness those times. 2001 - 2024, Halo forever, man. I remember 4 player screenpeakers in Halo CE, the dawn of Xbox Live for Halo 2, and hundreds of thousands to mil + active players in Halo 3. Wild
Gaming at it's peak. I miss those days so much 😪
Who remembers playing this shit on XBConnect before Xbox live existed
I remember as a kid my dad would have all his friends over. All his friends would bring some big old boxy TVs and their Xbox and set up a LAN party. I remember watching them all screaming and having a hell of a time.
Screen glaring is a long lost art
Cinematically yes, gameplay wise with how high end details the graphics and physics are nowadays not so much, but back in the early 00's yes it was something special
@@Gravetacular I think they meant looking at someone's screen to find them 😂
Screen >peeking< dude have some class
screen watching
We used to play 8 on 8 CTF on sidewinder. Blue team were in the 1st floor living room, and red team were upstairs in my bedroom (holes for the LAN cords drilled through the walls). Halo Night!
And then split screen was killed off by 343. Split screen co-op was literally how I was introduced to Halo playing with a friend at his house. I got an Xbox with Halo that Christmas. Yeah I was 15 by that time but it was a core childhood memory.
LAN party's were so fun 10 hours straight loved it😊
I was a tester at MGS at the time. Getting paid to play Halo is still one of the highlights of my career.
Was in 7th grade when Halo 2 released. Have yet to find a better online experience
It was so fun
We used to bring our TV to lan parties to get the 16vs. Good times. Good times.
You guys remember when the xbox 360 came with a headset, and you could hear everyone getting yelled at by their mom, from across the world?
There is nothing that will ever beat couch co-op. Except maybe lane parties.... But playing couch co-op with your best friend brother or cousin playing Halo bro that was the best.
Splitscreen gaming was classic and a fun time
But I’m glad I no longer have to squint or move closer to the tv to see anything that’s going on 😂
I enjoy the fullscreen multiplayer experience
The LAN parties with Halo CE were insane and would occasionally end up with someone getting so upset they would turn off the other teams xbox. Good times.
Still play split screen all the time with my girlfriend and friends. I don’t know why it ever went away lol
You're keeping it alive, love to hear it! It definitely needs to come back in the next halo.
Wholesome same
Halo franchise will forever have a special place in my heart. Regardless of what it has become today 😢
From golden eye to this, really was nice
Two TV's and two linked 64's was so far before it's time actually. When you think that was 5 years before .
Once the halo theme song started playing it had me in my feels 🥹👏🏻. Best memories!
I've been playing halo split-screen with my sister, were in the middle of halo 2, she also brought a warthog (car-car) up stairs where you see the scarab Destroying the city before you destroy it, I got a good laugh. I recommend you getting MCC Just for halo 2 split-screen.
halo 3 release was the most epic release for any product I can remember. so many people camping out and tons of vendors set up in front of gamestop. it was crazy. I even won a spin wheel from chick fil a.
Man I remember when I first held Halo in my hands. I miss those days.
Man, i miss the old LAN parties i would have with my friends and brothers. Those were great times.
343i keeps fking up, I haven’t been able enjoy halo at all. Growing up halo was a big part of my childhood and playing splitscreen with my brothers were the best time ever.
Im an only child 😭 played a lot of split screen with my dad & cousin growing up but I always envied having brothers man yall def lucky if gave anything to got to experience that
@@SloneyyyBRO SAME
Most don't know 343 is the number of staff fired from bungie. So halo is now being made by the ex-bungie employees. And it shows.
We used to be able to play Halo CE on our entire college LAN @ WSU back in the day.
good old days
I remember playing with my friends on Saturdays using split screen great times I even made online friends I wonder how they're doing all this time later
Still own the og xbox and it runs perfectly, I still play Halo splitscreen on it
"Microsoft wanted gamers to play together" and that decision was the best decision that gave alot of people their childhood moments
Microsoft killed of splitscreen what made everyone buy a console to play with friends and then charge you monthly to play with your friends
My family got an Xbox the day it was released in Australia, we had original saved for a Gamecube, but it just so happened to be release day when Dad and my brother went to get it. Let me tell you now, it didn't take playing a game for xbox to win us over, i was fucking pissed that they didn't get the new nintendo(grew up playing 64), but all it took was the opening scene where the green blob turned into the Xbox symbol, i was fucking sold.
Member dual wielding???? Ohhh I member!!!
Bring this back
LAN parties were peak humanity 😂
Any memory that involves playing Halo back then is a good one
I remember split screen and hated it still do it just makes the game harder because 1 it makes your screen smaller 2 the other screen section is distracting 3 games become unfair because of screen peeking
I think a modern equivalent is Steam and their remote play, allowing players to play together if only one player owns the game by streaming the game to the other person. This allows players to play split screen games even, online.
“When I joined the gaming community we didn’t have no fancy shmancy online. We had controllers. Two controllers and a TV. And we had to share the TV.”
System link tournaments at my friends house with his older brothers in different rooms is a core memory.
Best thing ever
LAN Days were FN LIT!!! May the good Ole days rest in out memories.
i loved those 8v8 games. I still remember all the trash talk to the team in the other room.
the good old days where that toxic player was in the next room if there were any
To this day, I have never had as much fun as I did between the years of 2001 & 2004 (I was between 11 & 13 yrs old), playing in 16-player Halo LAN parties at my friend's house and eating pizza in between matches. There are few experiences like that, and I'm incredibly thankful that I was lucky enough to have them with the best childhood friends that any kid could ask for. Playing online these days, just isn't the same.
Good times
Good times indeed :)
Indeed
Miss those days so damn much
I miss those days those were the best years of my life but now we can't have that back 😭😭
My brother and I would only buy games that were split screen co-op. We'd pool our money and save up for them.
Also, I really miss lan parties
Funny how at there last live stream, there was like 4 people 'on the couch 🛋 ' showing off the latest tenrai modes..
Yeah I saw that, shame they didn't play in splitscreen. At least Infinite still has splitscreen for multiplayer, wish I could say the same the campaign :(
@@FootedGhostThere's still that glitch right?
I still have 16 player LAN parties several times a year with all my old buddies
Wow that's awesome man, I'm actually jealous asf

I want to know how many of the people who were crying about infinite not having split screen would actually even use split screen if it was available.
Me, I would
The 3rd party online play for h1 was so lit, ghost bouncing, warthog launching, people sniping from the skybox 😅
The lan chords running threw rooms
Man these days were just the best.
Halo is the reason i decided on getting an xbox over a ps2
Same!!
I will never understand people who don't enjoy splitscreen, I find it to be much more enjoyable than just playing online.
Halo, Metal Arms, Metroid Prime 2.... ah, good times
It’s not surprising if you were part of the Golden Eye generation.
I unfortunately was not. Halo was my first experience with splitscreen, still so many good memories.
007 GoldenEye is the OG is the reason why we have games like Halo also the Nintendo 64 came with four ports
And unfortunately if you were not part of the 007 GoldenEye generation can you have no clue the trauma that was left from a match called Man with the Golden gun
One of the reasons I STILL play halo. While every other game developer is slowly killing couch multiplayer, I can still play 4 player split screen matchmaking on halo.
Halo is The best video game series back then
Such a fun time for gaming was playing this and warcraft 3 still play wc3 to this day but miss those halo days when online first came getting home from school and hopping on with everyone the clans etc
You had to make us cry, didn't you 🥲
"Bro, for the last time... there is a radar i dont need to look at your screen"
The good old days. I remember someone put it on the computers too classrooms fight haha
"Master cheif you've been approved for aarp"
the good old days
I loved split screen 20 years ago, but it holds back modern games from including more features the im all for it not to come back.
I miss the old gaming community from this era.
I remember the day my dad got this for me and my little brother with Halo 😊
I remember this back when my brothers and I were younger its really sad to see how things have changed with halo and how bad its gotten
Played all the halos splitscreen with my brother besides halo 5 and halo infinite big fan of splitscreen why i like games like mario ,gears of war and call of duty .
still got my old xbox hooked up and play it probly more than my xbox one. the games not as developed but still better than any new game coming out these days. I remember playing in a 2 story house with all xbox hooked up and having a great time with friends, now you play online and get abused from 12 yo kids or get hear every racial slurs ever said it's sad.
The golden shotty though 👌 🤌
“No screen looking!”
Won't ever forget the first halo game and I find halo 2 is all time best just insane games won't forget when I realised that you could turn the warthog when I was messing about on bludgulch only thing that was sad is being able to launch the hog to the sky
That takes me back❤
I remember going to skl hooking up an xbox and secretly running 1v1s against my friends in the back of homework club lol.
I miss split screen to this day.
Was always pissed none of the Battlefield games had it
Miss halo 2. We used to tether multiple xboxes together in Iraq and play
Man I miss those Lan parties
I love Halo and I would love to have someone to play split screen with me one day. I got to play it with my friend's little brother once and it was the most fun thing ever man
Time did not exist during matchmaking...Slayer!
Damn, these were the good old days had 10 motherfuckers in my room in like three consoles
Halo 3 was the absolute pinnacle of gaming. Prove me wrong. Anyone who wasn't born yet is disqualified.
co op halo infinite would be nice by now.
You can play online co-op
@@Victoryeds its not the same .
It's depressing how things have turned out. Games rarely allow you to play split screen.
yes bringing a TV to your friends house was a thing 😂😂
I did split screen with Battlefront I since I never had a Xbox until 2019. It was basically the same experience for my brother and friends(and I always destroyed them :) ) Wish I could go back to those days 😔
The good days
It’s the reason I served
epic gamer moment
Screen watching was a major problem
When I revealed my Xbox to my mom, I knew she wasn't the one.
Splitscreen can stay a thing of the past.
Halo and gears of war honestly revolutionary for Xbox gaming.
I miss going to my dads house and playing split screen with him my uncle and mom not anymore
Honestly was never into halo, in fact I actively disliked it, but playing split screen at my friends house, messing with game settings and maps were some of the best days of my life
Halo, the greatest masterpiece. A shame greed took it away from us forever.
Uh, you can still play it.
Man, I miss the halo ce days
Halo has fallen so far from grave rip 2001-2012
I miss my child hood
