@@KE9BXN I got this from an interview with serj tankian :) He said that there will be an announcement for 2023, and it will be not a tour. So maybe new music?

Serj's voice to me has always been perfection. Maybe that is because I am armenian, but the mix of clean tones with the intense power, the complex runs, the armenian deacon style vibrato just sets him so far apart from anyone in the metal world. Very cool to see you get the chills in all the places I get them myself, their music is amazing.
I've always wondered where his vibrato came from, and I assumed it came from traditional Armenian music but I don't know much about it. When you say "deacon" are you talking about worship music? Cos I've always thought it sounded like prayer music
@@ShrapnelTwo Armenian churches usually have a deacon who chants some verses during the sermons (choir will still sing as well, but is usually separate). The deacons all sound like Serj to me. Also, Armenian folk music is often sung with a lot of descending scale patterns with vibrato
Quite possibly my favourite SOAD track. The guitar crescendo in the middle of the song is brilliant. So simple yet pure power and emotive. Cant wait to share this with you.
This is the song I used to introduce SOAD to my metalhead friends in high school. They were meh but then heard Sugar somewhere. They said I chose the wrong song and it was forgettable when I was like "I showed you this band weeks ago". I still think about how wrong they were every so often.

Ego Brain is their most underrated song and that is by far their most underrated album. It's a masterpiece but nobody ever mentions it. So many bangers
I recommend both SOAD’s “Hypnotize” and “Question!” Both have such a great range through each song with such unique dynamic vocals, instrumental elements, harmony, and their Armenian influence.
I always get sad that they didn't keep on playing with the band, but on the other hand I love that they became a legend, having only a few albums. They could have moved too far away from their original style, due to time and aging, (it happens even to the best) but in this case, we can say all of their music is masterpiece.
Man, her absolute giddyness every time she has an eargasm is sooooo wholesome. I have only really experienced that one time, but it's truly wonderful. Thank you, you make me smile and brighten my day everytime.
If you like this song, you should check out Digital Bath by Deftones. Chino Moreno's voice is just so unique. He has this very seductive but off-putting whispery voice in the verses but lets out some powerful screams in the chorus. Very underrated vocalist
I love the validation I get from seeing my favorite songs from my favorite bands being analyzed by persons who understand the musically intricate nuances of things that my soul just understands innately.
I was the bass player / backing vocalist of THE System of a Down tribute band in Los Angeles, and this video of yours made me cry a bit. Listening to you focusing on the emotions behind the nuances in the voice opened up a new level of appreciation for Serj's abilities. I was always mostly focused on the music, since I had to play it, but the singing is simply phenomenal. Loved your analysis! Thank you ❤️
Seeing you react to soad warms up so many forgotten feelings. I haven't seen any of their music videos but I can help but mainly watch your face. Your expressions kind of are like the little child in me feels.
The way he's almost screaming that one lyric towards the end always gives me goosebumps, and then the tone just drops right back down. One of my favourite tracks.
This song is the very first I heard from them. Back in 1998. In music store. I came back the day after to listen again. And buy it. Still in love with all their work since. Thank you for sharing with us your emotions and perspicacity 💛
Suite Pee was getting played in London rock clubs, and I was lucky to find a promo CD of hte album on sale before it's full release. Loved it. I also saw them opening for Sepultura... had to queue all afternoon as they were on 15 mins after the venue doors opened. Totally bonkers energy and a very crazy circle pit that night!
Same here but saw them on late night with Conan O’brien in 1998 fell instantly in love with the band went to the record store and bought the album the next day
OH MY FREAKIN GAWD, i love it when you listen to like 5 seconds of the song, and your already so wow, it makes me smile so so sooo much, i love that reaction, im SOOO happy you enjoiy SOAD.........
Fun fact. This song was on the Scream 3 movie soundtrack. Also, Spiders happened to be the first song I heard by SOAD and I've appreciated their music ever since! Thank you for your wonderful analysis and passion on all of your videos!
my favorite part about watching these videos is the fact that I've heard these songs hundreds of times but i get that sense of excitement and anticipation watching someone witness it for the first time. its like I'm learning about the song all over again. thank you so much for these videos! If you ever have a chance, check out Coming for you by Twelve Foot Ninja. The different styles the mix into a single song is phenomenal.
System of a Down shaped me as a person a ton, their music is almost like nothing else and you can feel the emotion that oozes from it. Due to getting those emotional music hooks sunk into me at an early age it inspired me to find ways to have creative outlets for myself with music. I now play piano and drums, more jazz focused now adays but SOAD was the first time I could feel something so vividly from music and it always stuck with me.
Finally, I've been really excited to see something from this album. SOAD has so much to offer, each of their albums having a unique sound and approach from the previous. This is one of the most important bands in rock and roll, love to see them showing up so regularly on this channel!
I know its each to his own but saying SOAD is "one of the most important" and finished it with in "rock'n'roll history" makes you sound quite clueless, out of touch and with reality.
I love this lady so much LOL, she puts my love for music into words so well! And just watching her reaction is the closest thing im getting to listening to SOAD for the first time again. Love love love it
For vocal and harmonization, I really recommends everyone to listening to Dreaming, Question, Innervision or Highway Song by them, System Of A Down. Those songs has a special place in my heart.
Serj Tankian is one of the best metal vocalists ever born, his baritone and tenor voice with its mix of Lebanese and Armenian influences give him a unique exquisiteness in the way he sings.
The build and crescendo ending with the scream brought me to tears the first gazillion times I listened to this song. I always felt it's something with SOAD that's hitting a nerve in me, those onest emotions or as you so well said it: -It's so very human. Maybe a Halloween special and do their song Holy Mountains with the starting lyrics being "Can you feel their haunting presence" ? I mean so you have more System Of A Down songs to listen to outside work ;)
I just adore these SOAD breakdowns. I love watching someone who can physically express how the song makes me feel and then why it does. I've loved SOAD for a long time, but now I have a little understanding of why I do, I love it even more!
You might think you may not want to watch if you have arachnophobia. The song has nothing to do with spiders but about being spied upon by remote viewing and monitoring.
I am so glad you've been doing more SOAD, your analyses are always amazing and full of rare, valuable information, insight and appreciation. I listen to a very wide range of music, but SOAD has always been my favorite band since high school 20 years ago. I'm very thankful for you and your videos, you are making a huge contribution to the education/enlightenment of so many viewers/listeners, and are honestly making the world a better place when it comes down to it.
Man, I love these videos about everything in them. I hate them for one thing : you pause the song in the most climactic moments. It's so torturing but I love it.
Their album debut always gonna be my favorite one . Serj almost carrying all the vocal stuff and pure fresh energy on every song. Even the raw production it's great. Banger after banger
I absolutely cannot stress enough how much I would love to see you do more SOAD. It's hard to recommend a specific song because they are all good and because there is so much variety.
I’ve loved SOAD since I was seven, when I first heard them on the radio in my parents car. Listening to your breakdowns of these songs is like listening to them for the first time again and it’s so lovely to get an even better appreciation for music that helped form me through your analysis. So happy I found you!
Once again its so amazing to see how happy it makes you to hear music, your ability to break down vocal techniques, as well as seeing you FEEL every second of a song is what keeps me coming back, thank you for all you do!
Omg!!! I’m so freaking excited about this video! I’ve been suggesting it for months and I knew that you would love the way he uses some of his ethnic techniques while singing this song. Super super excited about this one! Such a haunting and ominous song and I enjoy watching how you break it down and how it affects you! SOAD seriously ruled the late 90’s and 00’s. I feel so inherently lucky that I was there to live it. The girl from this video was super gorg too
Interesting how you mentioned the static element. Never thought of that. From what I understand this song is about the powers that be controlling electronic information and thus controlling us. This song just keeps getting better the more you hear it. SOAD is one of those groups who can elicit great emotion in a person. Such a gift. I suggest Holy Mountains and Lost In Hollywood (Darin is lead vocals and Serj harmonizes) next.
I’ve been waiting for you to do this one! When vocal coaches/teachers do SOAD, I’m like, “No, no, no! You need to do Spiders!” It’s such a different sound and vocally it’s amazing. It’s so haunting, and beautiful, angry all at the same time. I love all their political angry fast songs, but this might be my favorite. If you want another amazing SOAD vocal song, check out “Science.” It’s not as good as this one, but it’s very good.
This is a great track! can't wait! Whilst we're on this time period, have you considered a Deftones vid? Chino has such a unique voice and has worked with a bunch of vocalists you've been enjoying :-) Keep up the great work!
i love how exited she gets while listening to soad. this is my favorite band and seeing people hear it and loving it for the first time makes me happy.
Great pick! If you want to cover more SOAD, the two I recommend most are Question and Suggestions. Question really showcases their harmonies along with some tricky time signatures, and it also has a long scream that is akin to (but not as insane as) The Grudge. Suggestions is just pure vocal insanity that has Serj sounding like 3 or 4 different people. When it comes to System vocals those are the two I highly recommend
The more I revisit their first album, the more unappreciated I feel it is. They hit big with the toxicity album, and SOAD kinda got ignored at the time (Steal this album was also great imo). I never clicked with the mezmerize/hypnotize albums; I don't think I connected with Daron doing vocals when Serj was just there. Why would you have anyone else carry the main harmony when you have Serj 😂?
I've always been a huge fan of SOAD for a long time but thank you for showing me how to appreciate them on a more in depth level!! Please keep going through more of their songs, watching you hear them for the first time is as close as I'll get to hearing them for the first time and it's an amazing feeling
It would be so cool to see a reaction from you to the Deftones. They too have influenced and paved the way for many other bands. They themselves have a lot of good songs but what always impressed me the most was their cover of "If only tonight we could sleep", by The Cure. For me pure goosebumps every time I hear it. Maybe Chino doesn't have the best voice, but it is absolutely recognizable. Change, Digital Bath, Minerva and all the other songs...Deftones definitely have their place in the history of rock/metal music.
This song/album came out before "The Matrix"(if you were referring to the movie). Album released in 1998. This is off their first self titled album. The other 3 you listened to were off "Toxicity", their second album. Glad you listened to this song. This album doesnt get the attention it deserves. Its raw, harsh, powerful and intense. Also quirky and goofy at times, but a masterpiece of art and creativity. I recommend "Sugar" off this album. It is their most well known song from this album and made them well known in the underground. try to find an uncensored tho. Takes a lot away from song if censored. Edit: For some interesting vocal analysis, and some good fun with an amazing song, I also recommend "suggestions".
This has always been my favorite SOAD song.. for that haunting aspec.. I love it! And his voices having that quivering and Imperfect sound only adds to the effect
I just want to say thank you for choosing to do this reaction/analysis! I've been a huge fan of Serj for many years. I felt and feel that he's the best vocalist that System of a Down has had. This is a great song but there are others that are also quite good at showing off his vocal skills. :)
Fun fact: Sylvia Massy, the sound engineer who worked on SOAD's self-titled album, did some crazy thing while recording Spiders: she decided to hang Serj upside down to push him to sing Spiders vocals better. Things didn't go well though, because Serj fainted during this 😆
@@salamon90 yeah like how she puts the microphone inside a hose to record bass drums and hanging singers upside down! She has a chair she bought for Prince he sat in to record his guitar work!
Never really listened to them till today. A shame I haven't till now. Great stuff. Going in for more now! You learn something knew everyday even at 63. Love rock and roll!
System is one of the greatest bands of all time, start at the beginning of their discography and listen straight through, every single song from the first four albums are incredible.
Absolutely love her reaction. Someone else mentioned that her reaction is akin to listening to the song for the first time. It’s so true. This was the first song i had ever learned on guitar so this brings me waaaay back to a particular time and place in my life. I love it. Also, The description of Serj’s voice as being so haunting is perfect.
First time I heard this, I was in 10th grade at my first track meet, nervous as heck. A cool senior gave me his walkman (yep) to listen to this before the race. It was awesome. That memory is burned into my psyche forever.
I can't wait to see how your face reacts as the culmination of the song approaches, somewhere around 'Before you know I will be waiting, all awake' line 😁
I so recognize the shivering you feel when you hear a new song you instantly know you'll love forever, but I wish I would be so present and so aware of *why* I love it as she is.
Over the years I've fallen in love with Shaun Morgan's, the vocalist for Seether's voice. I would love to see you do a video on anything live from them, they have some good acoustic performances such as for their song "Fine Again." He has a slightly country sound but also a very gruff, gritty sound, much in the way that many of our favorite metal and grunge vocalists do.
Shaun Morgan has the best most haunted voice in rock since Kurt Cobain. So friggen talented. The range and depth he can put in his voice from more ballad to some of the best screaming in rock. He's Him
Soad is my favorite band! They have a huge amount of vocal variety in their songs and in the last two albums daron does a lot more of the singing as well. Soldier side is a very good song with daron as the main vocalist and question or sad statue both blend their singing a lot
I'm SO glad you picked this song! This is the song that got me completely hooked on SOAD. Definitely the most overlooked and underrated song from them.
Likewise, I kind of think I've heard SOAD before, but cannot find any trace of it in my own music collection. I've listened to their top 5 singles according to US billboard, and this one hits the spot best for me. Can you think of any other track / band that has in intro like that of Spiders, it is now an earwig and a persistent thought - where have I heard it before?
One of my fav songs from System is B.Y.O.B, its very interesting.. a absolute musical master piece, but honestly they don't have any bad songs, they are all good, every song is excellent.
I've watched all your reactions to SOAD and I have to say your analysis and all the small details you dissect is just simply impressive. I've listened to them for so long yet after seeing your reaction, I was like you know she's so right and I didn't even notice this till now. You actually made me listen to their music differently and I thank you for that.
This is my favorite SOAD song and every time I listen to it I am just anticipating that absolutely haunting last "before". It's perfection and it feels like everything builds up to it.
Can I say thank you? Seeing you, listening for the first time, reacting to their music gave me a sentimental take to the music. Extracting and putting in to words, really articulating the emotion of the music, That! gave me the sensation of listening to System for the very first time. This often left me speechless. Just looking at you reacting almost reflecting my own emotions made me nostalgic and I must honestly say almost brought some tears to my eyes.
I find everything you do so incredible, its so indepth, with so many talking points of everything you're hearing and how descriptive about what it is. I've never met nor seen anyone this involved in music and in emotions taken from those sounds. It's so awesome.
I hope you get to interview Serj one day. I think that would be very interesting to watch. I think what makes this channel appealing is your genuine love of music and the physical and emotional reactions that pop out of you. It's nice seeing a real reaction.
Lonely day is a crazy good song. The lead vocals are provided by another member of the band, Daron Malakian, with Serj providing supporting vocals. Amazing song, 10/10 recommend.
This song is easily one of the most profound ever written for our generation. So underrated. Still brings a tear to my eye after many many years listening. Just never gets old

Deer Dance is one of my faces, ATWA, roulette.... they're all so different for being the same band
I recommend both SOAD’s “Hypnotize” and “Question!” Both have such a great range through each song with such unique dynamic vocals, instrumental elements, harmony, and their Armenian influence.
Those are the 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
She's said she's already recorded a video for "Question"! Hope she does "Hypnotize" some day soon.
The worst part about SOAD songs are that they end.
All good things must come to an end 😔
I always get sad that they didn't keep on playing with the band, but on the other hand I love that they became a legend, having only a few albums.
They could have moved too far away from their original style, due to time and aging, (it happens even to the best) but in this case, we can say all of their music is masterpiece.
And they end too soon! Thank God for LPs
I agree - Elizabeth needs to listen to some Deftones. Chino's vocals are fascinating.
Totally agree! The harmony choices they make, especially Chino, gives me goosebumps for days. Digital Bath is a good one 💜
Chino Moreno has the voice of a literal angel. I can’t be convinced otherwise
THIS
Agree on Digital Bath.
You have to hear "Lost in Hollywood"
Serj sing a lot of great background vocals there
Probably my most listened to SOAD song
@@ChinballsGaming also mine

@@patticake5367that’s Old School Hollywood lol
Beautiful analysis as always! I recommend giving "Sugar" a listen, it showcases a whole other fascinating and fun vocal facet of Serj's.
I love the validation I get from seeing my favorite songs from my favorite bands being analyzed by persons who understand the musically intricate nuances of things that my soul just understands innately.
Nicely said. I understand completely how you feel, unable to explain something because the knowledge comes naturally.
Partly because our parents always referred to the music we listened to growing up as crap 😂 (well mine did)
She is adorable. I absolutely love how lost she gets into the music and gives us top notch feedback. Love this channel
Thank you ❤️
I can't get over how when you talk and gush. It's like getting a hug from a good friend. Just super wholesome and lovely
My first song too
Scream 3 Soundtrack.
Same here but saw them on late night with Conan O’brien in 1998 fell instantly in love with the band went to the record store and bought the album the next day
War?! was mine, from a demo around 1996 or 1997 I think.
OH MY FREAKIN GAWD, i love it when you listen to like 5 seconds of the song, and your already so wow, it makes me smile so so sooo much, i love that reaction, im SOOO happy you enjoiy SOAD.........
System of a Down is one of my favorite bands of all time, and honestly, seeing your reaction to Serj's vocals and their music brings me so much joy
Yes!!! Spiders is such a stunning song. I still get goosebumps listening to this after all these years. So glad you chose it!!
Fun fact. This song was on the Scream 3 movie soundtrack.
Also, Spiders happened to be the first song I heard by SOAD and I've appreciated their music ever since!
Thank you for your wonderful analysis and passion on all of your videos!
makes total sense. This is the darkest sounding song without being actually morbidly dark, like gore or deathmetal
Cool but at what scene of the movie?
my favorite part about watching these videos is the fact that I've heard these songs hundreds of times but i get that sense of excitement and anticipation watching someone witness it for the first time. its like I'm learning about the song all over again. thank you so much for these videos!
Serj has some of the most passionate and soul touching vocals out of any artist in modern times.
One of the best voices of heavy metal ever.
Have to do "Hypnotize" next. The harmony of both Serj and Daron is amazing.
One of the best ❤️
One of my favorites of theirs, for sure. I'm so glad she's familiarizing herself with SOAD.
she NEEDS to hear Daron's solos on Hypnotize
@@86haushinka It's just tremolo picking and sliding a finger randomly up and down the string
Yes yes yes
YES! Innneeerviiisiooooooooon (Steal This Album is underrated at least I don’t see it talked about enough!)
@@Weather_Nerd 100%. STA is massively underrated, *especially* Innervision. Always been one of my favourites of theirs.
Hell yes
Serj Tankian is one of the best metal vocalists ever born, his baritone and tenor voice with its mix of Lebanese and Armenian influences give him a unique exquisiteness in the way he sings.
Serj is one of my favorite vocalists. His voice is at once extremely unique and recognizable.
You make the best facial expressions, it's so adorable when you get excited. I love your SOAD and Aurora reactions.
You might think you may not want to watch if you have arachnophobia. The song has nothing to do with spiders but about being spied upon by remote viewing and monitoring.
Yeah, is more a photosensitive warning with this video. The flashing and stuff really makes it hard to watch for me.
Being spider pawn? That makes sense.
@@Kasaaz damn that sucks
SOAD are very antigovernmental to it makes sense that many of their songs reflect that.
@@SamFisher007 Yeah, the ironic thing about that is big business monitors you more than the government.
Agree. :-)
WANNA PIECE OF PIE!! PIZZA PIZZA PIE! 🤣
The absolute purity of your appreciation of Serj’s voice made my week. That was so enjoyable to watch 🥰
Serj is unique. We already know that. Gl finding anyone with this talent willing to explore the darkness.
This is definitely my favorite SOAD song; it's haunting, beautiful, and masterfully done
The only group to have survived my shifting musical preferences throughout the years. Love this band so much. Thanks for the great videos.
Chino's voice was insane in his prime. Those high notes in "Digital Bath" are some of the craziest singing I've ever heard.
As much as she enjoys Tool I bet she would like Passenger.
Passenger is ABSOLUTELY the right way to introduce her to Deftones!
As for me, I'll be waiting for her reaction to Hole in the Earth and their cover of No Ordinary Love
100% agree, although I think you're selling Chino's voice short. He's a great vocalist and absolutely needs to be featured on this channel.
I would kinda love hearing you react to Serj's solo song "Empty Walls". For me it really shows his range and mastery. And I really like the song.
The entire self-titled album is a masterpiece, and demonstrates Serj's incredible agility and range.
Still get goosebumps after all these years. Forever blessed that art/music can make that much of an effect.
20 Years!
Two other wonderful songs of their. So glad you did suggest them❤️
Sugar is a JAM. Love that song.
@@reneedailey1696 sorry I'm French, Wath does JAM means?
@@anaisr-p2.085 Don't be sorry- A jam is a good tune/song, I just capitalized it for emphasis. :)

I'd love to see her interview Serj and Daron. The eye opening conversation they could have would do great things for the world.
This has always been my favorite SOAD song.. for that haunting aspec.. I love it! And his voices having that quivering and Imperfect sound only adds to the effect
I've listened to this song a thousand times. It still amazes me every time. It's a vocal masterpiece.
Things didn't go well though, because Serj fainted during this 😆
Sylvia Massy is an engineering genius and legend! There’s some great videos about her working in the studio everyone should check out!
@@rwfrench66GenX Saw some her videos from studio and all I can say is that she's a mad scientist
@@salamon90 yeah like how she puts the microphone inside a hose to record bass drums and hanging singers upside down! She has a chair she bought for Prince he sat in to record his guitar work!
Serj? Uhhhh….Serj? Whoops.
it shows that she care about musicians bcuz she wants to create the closest sound in the terms of vibe and psychological level. damn
I would love to see you do a video on anything live from them, they have some good acoustic performances such as for their song "Fine Again." He has a slightly country sound but also a very gruff, gritty sound, much in the way that many of our favorite metal and grunge vocalists do.
yes!! has she ever done a seether song?!!!
Same, hope she will do a video with BYOB song
it's Aerials and Lonely Day all day long for me haha
This song changed my freaking life back in middle school, lol. I love it so much and hoping you would do an analysis. Yay!!
1:30 the frozen graphic on her screen blends perfectly into her Dark Queen figurine 😅
I keep coming back to your soad reactions. They are magical! You are a music UA-cam treasure for sure!
This is my favorite SOAD song and every time I listen to it I am just anticipating that absolutely haunting last "before". It's perfection and it feels like everything builds up to it.
This album is still my favorite after all these years and this song still gives me massive chills.
This album is my favorite of theirs too. It's a trip! Great stuff
Easily their best album to my ears.
Yes
Much of Serj's solo stuff has similar vibes. "Empty Walls" is incredible. "Harikari" is haunting.
"Question" by system of a down is amazing
I find everything you do so incredible, its so indepth, with so many talking points of everything you're hearing and how descriptive about what it is. I've never met nor seen anyone this involved in music and in emotions taken from those sounds. It's so awesome.
I hope you get to interview Serj one day. I think that would be very interesting to watch. I think what makes this channel appealing is your genuine love of music and the physical and emotional reactions that pop out of you. It's nice seeing a real reaction.
Serge probably has one of the most unique and amazing voices in rock. I love his vocals more than any other rock star probably.
Lonely day is a crazy good song. The lead vocals are provided by another member of the band, Daron Malakian, with Serj providing supporting vocals. Amazing song, 10/10 recommend.
One of the songs which helped me through my depression
The message behind that song makes it even more amazing.
Love this song
This song is easily one of the most profound ever written for our generation. So underrated. Still brings a tear to my eye after many many years listening. Just never gets old
