I had a family doctor treat me for almost two years with 50 mg of prednisone a day, 20 antibiotics back-to-back almost killed me finally sent me to a Ear throat and nose specialist who figured out that it was acid reflux. I wish this message could get out to more family doctors. And the ENT had me better in a couple of months.

Same has happened to me. I am trying a theory now from a holistic dr by taking 2 tablets of zypan before every meal to add acid and digestive enzymes and 3 probiotics right before bed, so far I have discontinued omeprazol and am just doing this and have been asthma free for the last few days except a little bit at night. I will let you know how it works going forward. Surgery and chronic pill taking should always be the last alternative, but sadly most doctors will not tell you this because it is not profitable.

I started having asthma symtoms chest pain strange pound in the center of my chest did x ray and they said it was bronchitas then all of a sudden after all of that I started having burning sensation in my stomach heartburn it all points towards acid reflux the problem with acid reflux is not enough acid to break down the protein food taking anti acid doesnt work it makes it worst search for Dr.Berg on this topic taking ACV before a meal helps bring up acid and helps breaking down the food

I think Sleep Apnea can be caused from GERD. Sleep Apnea contributes to heart disease, dementia, weight gain and kidney failure.
The doc on the left seemed a bit impatient with the interview. Maybe some relaxation/meditation would help prior to a public appearance to be more comfortable with the process.

King is right on the button...acid reflux and hernias can cause Asthma and mucus coughing. When upper oesophagus is compromised with stomach acids (strong enough to digest nails!) the entry into the lungs can receive dribbles of stomach acid which can then subsequently damage the lungs and cause pneumonia and lung disease or invasion of bacteria and viruses as in Corona. Epidemic we are seeing today is from millions sitting in front of computers and not engaging in enough physical activity, causing stomach to move upwards into the food pipe from where all these anomalies begin.

I have had severe indigestion symptoms for 5 days, beginning last Friday. The pit of my stomach has been burning, continuing up through my esophagus and into my throat. I have been bloated and have felt like i have a very big belch stuck in my chest. For many many many months i have been having difficulty getting a full breath and this has gotten so bad sometimes i feel as thighs i am going to pass out. I was diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus many years ago, back in 2013 or so. I have been to the doctor several times because of difficutly breathing and NOONE said anything to me about it being acid reflux related. Instead i was told by one doctor it was anxiety and another said it was copd, others still have said there is nothing wrong with my beating, which i know better... i have content post nasal drip, sinus infection and headaches ALL the time, am hoarse and cant even sing anymore, constantly coughing and clearing my throat. Most recently I have been yawning ALOT...and today, the most recent syptoms have progressed to pain radiating from my breastbone up though my esophagus up through my left collarbone and into my neck and arm. There is also a constant pinch about 1.5 inches above and to the left of my breastbone. Mylanta, tums, omeprazole.... nothing helps. I have been burping a lot but just little tiny burps. I am concerned because now i seem just exhausted, frustrated, and generally feel very poor. What can i do?? And could this have anything at all to do with my heart? Also... if somehow this can be cured or helped, can my breathing every get better?

Thank you for a great presentation!I do have asthma triggered by allergies which is under control for a couple years after taking pollen, dogs and cats allergy shots. In the past several months I have been feeling constant pressure, burning and breathing restriction mostly in upper lung / bronchus areas. The only relief I get is by using inhaler (Ventolin) 4 times daily. After visiting my allergy / asthma doctor, it was determined that my lungs capacity and oxygen levels tested normal and acid reflux is now suspected to be the possible cause. I'll be taking Pantoprazole for a week to see if reducing the acid will positively impact my breathing difficulties. Am I on the right path? Kindly, Morty

Three days ago I had homemade pizza with a lot of tomato sauce and an hour later I went into something that I have never experienced in my life - either asthma attack or panic attack - because I couldn't breath and I thought I had the coronavirus or something similar. I had shortness of breath after that pizza. Saw my primary doc, where she thinks it's Acid Reflux, so she prescribed omeprazole.
My question to you and anyone else... is it normal to get an asthma attack due to Acid Reflux? The feeling is sooo terrible... I thought I was dying.
Note: I don't have a burning sensation or pain but I did have some minor upper chest pressure / congestion with some weird sensation in my lower part of the throat. I didn't and don't have any symptoms with acid until the incident.
      Any recommendations?
@lakeside - did Pantazole work for you? What's your status?

I thought I had covid too but they wouldn't test for it cause my oxygen was still good and my lung x-ray was clear. Only thing I can think of is that's it reflux and upward stomach pressure causing the sensation. I had the same throat thing too

This is really scary. In March I started to have dry cough and sob seen by pulmonologist did ct chest shows lung scarring and small air way disease
It’s basically there’s some mild fibrosis in my lung. I googled it and I found the condition is progressive terminal disease and panicked
I asked the doc if I have the scary chronic lung disease and she said she doesn’t know because I have no previous ct scan to compare to see any progression. After taking asthma inhaler for four month my cough and sob disappeared so my pulmonologist asked me to follow up after six month
I stoped all inhalers or allergy 💊
Now it’s almost six month and I have new symptoms like sinus congestion post nasal drip mucus in my throat sensation
So I was seen by ent got a diagnose of silent reflux
It’s really scary cause my silent reflux LPR isn’t responding with medications and life style changes and diet restrictions
I never seen Gi doctor so that’s my next step
I’m afraid Of dying with silent reflux and leading to pulmonary fibrosis
Hopefully I can stop it from happening

Is it possible to experience heart pounding with GERD? I've had complete heart work up and nothing was found to be wrong with my heart. But after eating, and when I lay down I have terrible heart pounding. Even wakes me up all night. It can last anywhere from minutes to an entire day. Tums, etc. help but sometimes I need to take 4-5 and only get a little relief.I am also taking prescription nexium. Nothing seems to be helping.

It is common. I have a hiatal hernia and GERD. When I have esophageal spasms due to reflux I can also have palpitations and chest pain. After several trips to the Dr. and emergency rooms over the years I have been told the esophagus and the heart are close together and in tandem with the Vagus nerve they share some nerve patterns. Get the reflux under control and sleep with your upper body slightly raised. I take Prilosec daily and a few tums at night if it is bad. Just as a side note...anxiety worrying about it can increase the heart skipping and pounding...I speak from experience on that one.

I was in today for horrid pain from acid reflux. I have had breathing issues trying to get a full compliment of air in my lungs! I have had this breathing issues for about a year or more it is horrible.
Also The heart will palpitate too causing the pulse to rise and at some point later it calms.
Heart digestion lungs are connected in some way. And when I eat the pressure in in the chest and not sure why. Getting my endoscopy in 10 days.
