Adam I don't care if it looks like a blind man painted it. The fact that you did it is what impresses me. Old depressed fat Adam would of just sold the car. Big props dude.
Yeah I’m glad he’s actually fixing it, he’s been talking about doing that since I started watching which was so long ago.... I look forward to his vids now because he has a much better attitude and outlook on life
Yep, he's adapted to if he sets his mind on it, it will get done. I refer to that as the 'inner FIERCE' and that he is. He's a great guy, in person, too... :D
before losing the weight trust me...I was going to sell it. actualy almost had it sold but the guy backed out last minute due to an unexpected vet bill.
i agree with the mob. pretty impressed. Not just with the car project, but with all the stuff you've been accomplishing lately. makes the vlogs way better.
You finally made it! I have been following you for years and it is for sure alot more fun to see you do things like this rather then just sit infront of the computer talking about videogames
looks good to me im sure after more coats like you said will happen off cam and some wet sanding then some coats of clear coat it will be great looking
You know what Adam it looks bloody good compared to how it was before!! I can't wait to see the end product and then all you need to do is change the oil and belts and you can bomb around in it again. I remember the vlog when you parked it up for the last time (must be 6 years ago now), and I did think that it might never see the road again, especially when you talked about selling it. I'm so glad you didn't, and so will you be once you get it looking good and on the road again!
I think it looks great! And like u said a wet sand will smooth it out in the end. If you ever wanna come to Vancouver I have a 2001 Taurus with peeling paint hahahaha
You might not have gotten so much orange peel with an upgrade in paint. I used a Harbor Freight turbine sprayer with Urekem paint n got virtually no orange peel very little. I also got no overspray. I did use 2K clear came close to pro paint job. All in all great job my guy.
It'll look fine as long as you get enough paint on it to cover it up. Some people will hate no matter what you do so do what you wanna do. It'll look alot better then it did before.
that looks great adam, makes me wish i still had my tacoma and time, i would of made a flatbed to replace the old rusted bed and repainted the truck blue, i miss my truck.
agree if anything Your doing the car a favor Looking good so far interesting Adam Thanks for the tips i have a old van that could use a face lift Cool You take care
looks really good... i kind of like the orange peel lol.... could of taken more time to sand down the rear wing filled holes... but maybe with the wet sanding you can make it less seen... can't wait to see how good it will look finished..... also that sprayer looks very good. would of thought it would over spray alot
oh its going in the garage...I still have another foot and a half that I can push it in until it will hit the cabinets in the back. pretty sure I should be able to get the snow blower behind it for winter time. Well sidways not straight in that is for sure.
Rust-Oleum 2X clear is different from 2K clear and doesn't have a hardener in it. There are some videos on YT about 2X vs 2K. 2K is more money but worth it. Fully hardens faster and easier to sand and buff. Just be careful because the hardener has harmful chemicals in it. If you spray it make sure your respirator is rated for it.
Dude for something you did in your garage. With new equipment all by yourself. No lie it came out above and beyond what i thought you could do alone. Its came out so good and its not complete yet. Once you also Detail the interior you will have one of the more solid example of that car. That car was a Diamond in the ruff all along. Happy you kept that it. They will pick up in value. You know we need a new burn out intro now. Its been a minute since you had that on vlogginlife due to that bogus copy-write claim against the music you made. You have better gear now. Micheal bay that intro. Do it.
WELL!! see...the burnout intro will happen...but I got a friend who is a transmission guy and knows how to do the rear diff. I have a LSD dif in the garage and I want to change the gears from 2.72 highway to 4.10 sport and pop that puppy in there so the next burnout intro will be a two wheel peel! :D
Just for comparison sake, too bad you didn't take it to a body shop before doing anything to get a written quote on a professional job then compare how much you paid to actually do it. I think you did a damn fine job for the amount of money you have into it and as you said, you are not a professional so it's not going to be a professional job but if anything, it will definitely protect the car from getting any worse so consider to be a preservation coat and you could always send it down smooth and hit it again next year if you wanted to.
Using this sprayer sprays too thick . With automotive paint, you don’t want too thick of paint because it chips easily. This is great for primers though .
yeah this is the first time I took on a project like this. If I respray again I will definitely thin the crap out of the paint. Lighter coats and more coats.
I also always used rattle cans for jobs but never ever sprayed an entire car. Always had to do the wheel wells and dog ears on my old cars because they get sand blasted over time or they would just rot and needed work. First time HVLPing.
*THAT'S where you fucked up! you don't final sand with 320 when you're ready to put the final sand on it you use 800 at the least the very coarsest use 600. and the bubbles you were referring to would come out of the paint when you strain it. and thin it properly. should have spent a couple bucks and got yourself a tack cloth and also wax and grease remove it before you paint. and don't use paint thinner! that throws off your chemicals in the paint and may cause a negative reaction with the paint too.Reducer and hardener is all you use. AND your paint was WAY too thick too it needed to be thinned out way more than that. Then it would have laid right down smoother and more like regular car paint. if you had the paint does. if it's thinned right you hit it with 1000 gritt when wet sanding after 4 coats minumum of base then 2 coats of clear. DUDE! that's not orange peel! those are waves! BIG thick gnarly Hang ten mothers. You could sand that shit for weeks and never get all those waves out. You could kill surfers and sharks and shit with those waves. lol I keed i keed but SERIOUSLY you use 1000, then 3000 gritt for wet sanding and buffing after the clear Not talking shit because have you seen anything i painted? well you have if you watched any of my last few videos about the blue escalade but still. mine wasn't perfect either. and my buddy chuck painted most of that stuff any way. i helped but i wouldn't call myself a painter because of it. not really anyway because he did most of the prep work himself*
Have you made any how to paint videos that I can evaluate? Or learn from? If this was his 10th maybe even 8th, video I would definitely be questioning his methods if I was a painter. If not I would just go somewhere else and find someone that knew what they were doing. The only time I would comment is if it fell into my area of expertise and that I knew I could do it better. Kind of hard to stay positive in this world when you see negative comments instead of constructive criticism. I guess I'd be crying too if I felt better criticizing someone like this.
Adam I don't care if it looks like a blind man painted it. The fact that you did it is what impresses me. Old depressed fat Adam would of just sold the car. Big props dude.
YASSSSSS!

I've waited 8 years for this moment! Great work dude! Can't wait to see her all finished up!!
Looks good, all those years ago I would of doubted you going through with this but persistence shows that you can do it and it looks good
I was too depressed then....not now
i agree with the mob. pretty impressed. Not just with the car project, but with all the stuff you've been accomplishing lately. makes the vlogs way better.
thanks man!
Your the best entertainment commentator.
You finally made it! I have been following you for years and it is for sure alot more fun to see you do things like this rather then just sit infront of the computer talking about videogames
Thanks for the video, I have this unit and haven't used it yet.
Thanks for the review thinking about picking this unit up
For someone who isn;t a pro painter you did a damn good job. I admire the fact that you give things a go. Are you clear coating it?
yeah but I kinda maffed that up too..video to come.
That is a really nice job. Looks great.
looks good to me im sure after more coats like you said will happen off cam and some wet sanding then some coats of clear coat it will be great looking
its a work in progress...still more to come.
Awesome dude. Well freaking done. Time and effort well spent.
Looks awesome so far Adam. Looking forward to the end result.
Heck yeah you did it! Now some multi-stage sanding, wet sand, and a buff and she'll be mint bud! Like making a silk purse of a sow's ear.
Nice work👍 I think after a good cut and polish it'll look mint, definitely came out better then my bike lol
Adam it looks really good it will be a cool ride once again
You know what Adam it looks bloody good compared to how it was before!! Turned out sweet for a quick turn around.
looks awesome man! what a fun project!
dude never doubt yourself.never mind what people say.like you said can't make it worst.you did pretty good for first time i saw worst.
Looking good. A little post-.paint work but that is to be expected. Right on course buba.
looks great adam, dirty bird lives again
that looks great adam, makes me wish i still had my tacoma and time, i would of made a flatbed to replace the old rusted bed and repainted the truck blue, i miss my truck.

Looks good.
It’s very beautiful please keep it in the garage or put a cover on it doing the winter.
oh its going in the garage...I still have another foot and a half that I can push it in until it will hit the cabinets in the back. pretty sure I should be able to get the snow blower behind it for winter time. Well sidways not straight in that is for sure.
does a pretty good job.. i should get 1 to repaint my tractor..
yeah man...especially if you normally paint with rattle cans and do a lot of painting. Cost for a bucket of paint VS a rattle can is crazy cheaper.
Rust-Oleum 2X clear is different from 2K clear and doesn't have a hardener in it. There are some videos on YT about 2X vs 2K. 2K is more money but worth it. What are you using to spray?
if you wanted to go cheap(affordable) on paint maybe the duplicolor quarts would have worked well with this unit with less orange peel
Good job

HI guys! Looking good!! Just SugarCube dropping in to say, hi :)
hey sugarcube!!!!
Awesome!
Don't they have a roller for that?
good vlog awesome paint job
You should have used a slower reducer and more of it. The orange peel is horrible
i'm sorry did you say someone used that machine to spray plasti-dip on a hood? that's mental
yeah man. There are videos online showing how.
Love the orange peel it looks like rhino liner
Just leave it like it is ..... tell people its sprayed with white bed liner , that's why it's got the textured look . :-)
holy shit Adam ur half ur size wtf i was aweay fore some time and ur painting old withi lol gj
Looks good!!, I did the same thing with my 79 trans am but I used the rattle cans lol, Vids on my channel If you wanna see how it turned out
Using this sprayer sprays too thick . With automotive paint, you don’t want too thick of paint because it chips easily. This is great for primers though .
yeah this is the first time I took on a project like this. If I respray again I will definitely thin the crap out of the paint. Lighter coats and more coats.
I use rattlers to spray mine. Just leave in the sink soaking in warm water 20 minutes, dry can and spray
I also always used rattle cans for jobs but never ever sprayed an entire car. Always had to do the wheel wells and dog ears on my old cars because they get sand blasted over time or they would just rot and needed work. First time HVLPing.
If you like the paintjob, then it's a good job, just remember, Ladas came from the factory in Russia with worse paintwork... :P
can confirm..buddy down the road has a lada niva...and wow. LOL
Wow 2 years ago
😯
oh rustoleom owns them now that make sense

Mask and then sand? Must be trained at Maaco. Go to 18:50 and check out that orange peel on the roof under at the lighted area. I'd be crying!
