I'm sorry.. but people don't like the fact Emmerich is literally an English gentleman? Man I love his voice actor, and I generally think his voice actor has done the best job out of all of the companions. Plus, he has the best romance (personally).
@@princeapoopoo5787 Literally. I've looked at the other ones and they've all felt a bit... meh. Apart from Davrin's. It kind of sucks the romances lack a lot of depth though, including emmerch's. Especially when the word "steamy" was mentioned. They don't feel like other dragon age games.
@@sonnenblumefrau2048 Yeah, I mean it just really sucks they didn't go in depth with the romances. as someone who romanced dorian in inqusition, the ones in veilguard (minus emmerich) just don't compare... at all. Maybe they'll revisit it later, but I highly HIGHLY doubt it.
As a Mourn Watcher I had the option of saying I wanted to be buried in the gardens or I wanted a simple entombment or "put me to work in the mines" and I chose simple entombment.
Considering your character says they aren't Dalish no matter what (when you look in Varric's shaving mirror, under the "tattoo" option as an elf), I guess this is one of those options that should have been there but they just explicitly made it so you couldn't for some...... reason.....
@@UncleJunkyard But it's like.... not, though. It's not even dependent on your background, like even if you're a Veil Jumper, the most elfy background filled to the brim with other Dalish elves, you get the same line. There's already lots of elf-specific "my gods" options you can pick that feel out of place for a city elf who may not know much about or identify with the elven legends, so why would the game _explicitly_ tell you that you aren't Dalish at the same time? They couldn't even leave it up in the air?
I got it as a Mournwatch! Maybe you missed it. There's an option to be buried in the Memorial Gardens (I guess it would be in place of this Rook's Necropolis option)
I am so disappointed by the tonal shift. dragon age deals with very dark subject matter, assault, slavery racism. None of these characters seem like they’d exist in a grounded reality
Agreed... personally I don't even view The Veilguard as a Dragon Age game, it has none of the qualities of the previous titles. The writing is utterly disappointing, absolutely no nuance, no reading between the lines, the Veilguard is incapable of showing anything through action rather than words and the characters repeat themselves so many times it's honestly insulting. The puzzles too, just...no comment. Basically God of War puzzles but simplified even further because apparently the devs think us players are all mindless troglodytes. The only thing they've done right is the environments, they look gorgeous. Hair physics too, one of the best I've seen. But the lack of choice (not allowing us to be evil at all), the unlikeable characters, the very cringe-worthy writing... I'm sorry to say but I believe this game marks the funeral of the Dragon Age franchise and possibly even Bioware themselves. Any excitement I had for the next Mass Effect game they're working on is gone too.
Agreed. These characters feel like… something from League of Legends, where the world is overall bright and cheery even with a literal land full of shadows and spirits and necromancy. The style is a rubbery plastic feeling like Fortnite or a next gen update of TF2. The conversations with companions have no depth, no means of truly getting to know them because you are always saying the “nice thing” they want to hear. Even your “disagreements” don’t have any weight or heft behind them. They’re as negligible and consequential as if you were discussing your favorite colors, except it’s every single interaction with every single NPC in this game save for Solas sort of but not really because again, no weight, no heft, nothing. This is a game where they gutted the roleplaying to the barest bones and the shell of an RPG and stuffed it full of combat while eschewing the years of world building and tone setting by Bioware. I suppose we should have expected this since Dragon Age was never a stable or consistent series. Always retconning, always changing perspective and focus and mechanics between each game that felt less like creative liberties and more like unstable volatility in the development department. As far as I’m concerned this game doesn’t exist. I’m a hound for achievements and a huge fan and I can’t bring myself to the idea of playing this game muted and mashing the skip button for dialogue, that’s how soul-suckingly underwhelming this game is.
My guy, this is probably the most totally dark game in the series. If you don't believe me, play through Weisshaupt and come back after you do that, it's fucking BLEAK. Also the characters are grounded in the reality of the world thet live in, not in our reality. They make sense in the world's context, and you're clearly just parroting shit you've heard people say.
They go to all the trouble of getting Emmerich to look like Vincent Price and have him do the same kinda creepy stuff you’d see in one of his movies but don’t go for the voice? What were they thinking?
Very disappointing. The voice doesn't match at all, and the tone is absurd. Why does he sound like a 20-year-old English boy, and not a 40 something German man? Or Vincent Price?

Just met him, anyone else getting some serious Vincent Price vibes off this guy?
Or is it just me?

You can see heavy inspirations from "House on Haunted Hill"
