      I think the person was giving her a compliment meaning if she is 30, she actually looks younger than that. Meaning she looks great for 30. Yes, it doesn’t mean she is old at 30 but she carries her self well for 30.

    When I first started my locs journey, I was suppose to go for a retwist after 3 months and I never did. I just let it form on its own and I did my first wash after 3-4 months.

    Kinky hair is so perfect for locs.. my hair is 2 textures and the back that's kinky definitely hold the twist way better than the front that's straighter. It just frizzes lol

    i tried 2 strand twist to lock and imo it takes way longer because the hair restricted somewhat in the pattern of the twist. ive since taken them out and instead i just did a few interlock loops at the root to make defined sections and now im just letting it free form from there. locking much faster but less neat and manicured, which i like. Your hair is looking healthy and pretty 4c queen.

    But why are you "unravelling" them after retwisting them? I don't understand. Your hair is long enough to where you can retwist and two strand twist them on time. I'd keep them like that as long as I can (won't you won't go crazy without a updo lol)

    • @mayiinbloom
      @mayiinbloom  3 роки тому +1

      I twist them together to hold the retwist and once it is fry, I prefer to unravel them, as it is the look I prefer. Sometimes I do keep them in longer though, but it depends on what I like and how I feel :-) Good luck on your journey!

    Is your hair your god? 🤔 the wording in the letter you wrote is godlike qualities. Very weird letter. Just being truthful.

    • @mayiinbloom
      @mayiinbloom  2 роки тому +1

      I listened to my letter again and I find your comment interesting not that I owed you an explanation but was curious where you came to that conclusion from.....I am not religious and have no interest in worshipping anything or anyone - However, having and showing appreciation and gratitude to things/people that touch me, is important to me. I am assuming it could be the part before but also "master of my ship and captain of my soul" a part which is inspired by Invictus (unconquered in Latin), a poem by William Ernest Henley. A poem that is rather dear to me because it relates to the resilience, strength and determination of character but also my hair and spirit. I also try to be rather intentional about how I move through life and enjoy setting intentions behind my actions and choices that are true and grounding to me.

    I know you don't like me saying it but I hate locks and I love the natural afro I just think it's Unique. Now that being said I have no idea how much is involved in taking care of natural hair so it's easy for someone who doesn't have to put in the work to give his opinion. quite surprisingly I like the look on you I guess it fits in with your overall Vibe the natural look love that you are not shaving also. Maybe I was wrong to be so opinionated and harsh, so sorry for that but you didn't have to block me...lol

    • @mayiinbloom
      @mayiinbloom  3 роки тому +14

      Hey you,
      yes, you were being rather harsh and persistent on a subject on something I was not looking for your feedback on: My hair and what I wanted to do with it. I am a rather tolerant person and by the time I block someone, I have exhausted making things clear to them. I don´t expect people to agree with all my choices or ideas or opinions, but I also mostly share from a place of: "this is what I do and why it makes sense to ME".
      I would and have never made an effort to go on anyone´s page or platform to tell them how wrong or how much I don´t like something they want to do to their body or in their lives. If I want an opinion on something, I am not shy to ask, so just as a note, if I didn´t ask for your opinion, chances are, I am not in desperate need for it. Especially, harsh opinions that feel like they are based on the assumption, that I had put little to no thought into why I do something or not.
      I just want to make that very very clear. My spaces are digital sanctuaries. As a black woman, I face enough unrequested opinions and expectations of my existence and how I live. It is not in low supply and noticing that you were often more than eager to let me know how you disagreed with things I did or said even often from misunderstanding was exhausting. So yes, I needed to block you or anyone who is that taxing in my presence or spaces.
      I am glad you had some time to reflect, and while I am not sure how I forgot to block you here lol, I will let it be for now on the understanding that you now understand what I am not here for.
      I will not tolerate behavior on my platforms which I would not feel comfortable or entitled to do in other people’s spaces. So those are my personal boundaries. Luckily for you, there are hundreds of women on this platform without locs and who live as you wish to live, so if you ever feel exhausted by my way of life, or the way I style my hair, feel free to find your tribe and people too. As we all deserve to.
      I hope that makes it clear and thanks for your comment. M.

      @@mayiinbloom My feedback wasn't coming as a need of control, it was coming from a sincere belief that outside practices that are not African should be pointed out as such. Because I respected your decolonization series I was a little bit surprised that you thought locks were African. But now I understand you were talking to more from a convenience I think. I was recently talking to some sisters and they told me how much work was actually involved in keeping and maintaining natural hair. I never realize how much work was involved so it actually makes me more proud of the women who actually do it, and more understanding of the ones who don't. I also understand that even in my sincerity I can still be speaking from ignorance. Sometimes when we trying to heal ourselves and each other we forget to be compassionate and truly understand what has happened to us as a people. I admit I probably wasn't speaking to you out of love and more out of frustration at this growing trend that is masquerading as Consciousness. And just because it makes sense to us individually doesn't necessarily mean it makes sense. I could be just as individualistic and say well I can marry who I want and do what I want, but we both know from the communal ancestral obligations that is not REALLY so. DONT WE? Social media makes it difficult to talk to each other because everybody is looking for acknowledgement and any type of energy that's not that is viewed as negative. Now as far as that going on someone's page voicing your opinion look if you want to diary buy a book when you put something out in public format don't be surprised when people respond. Oh you don't want someone commenting on your hair yet you want to control HOW people respond goodness gracious. You do understand that is not your page but a facebook page they let you use to sell shit, everything you post belongs to them NOT YOU. And because you feel this way I will not, do your own things lady
