    I’m also a semi-freeformer and I’m considering braiding my new growth with my locs (since my new growth grows away from my locs). I just use light oils when I retwist (no gels, etc). However a couple of weeks after I retwist that good ole new growth doesn’t wanna stay with the loc. How has your experience been with braiding your new growth with your locs? Do they unravel? Do you notice a difference with implementing the braiding technique for maintenance? 🌻

    • @holisticflo
      @holisticflo  2 роки тому

      Sometimes the braiding technique does unravel, especially if i dont do it consistently every time I was, so what you’re experiencing is pretty normal. I would say keep doing it at a frequency you feel comfortable with. You may find the want to do it every time you wash, or every other wash

      It is definitely a huge spiritual shift when you go through that stage. It's the most beautiful part when you look back on it though!

      Style the hair with bantu knot to start loc is very good one idea.
      It protects the root and the end of the hair, you don’t have to struggle (like 2 stand twist more « fragile », and this is why when I retwisted my hair, I used to hairstyle like this) and the hairstyle is like a natural retwist cause i twist my hair to create this bun, and after a while it’s like pull on the rope, beautiful natty curl dread and feeling the nappy root. Love this sensation 👌🏾

    Hey Flo ✌🏾 didn’t noticed the tattoo before ( maybe ain’t watching since a while too 😅) but it very cool
    I just wanna know yur opinion about something, cause you talk about spirituality, hair, and the connection with the both.
    First thing I am thinking about is : do you shave you body hair? Cause, for some ppl , when it’s about spirituality start to enjoy this journey, hair is not only about the vibrations of your head ( aka crown chakras) but also the whole body.
    Second thing is: I separed some congo dread with ✂️. Cause I start feeling the weight (specially the back and just a lil bit in some side of my head) I still have bongo dread and i love my hair, I know in the futur maybe it will combining again 😅 anyways. Now I am feeling lighter, less headache, even during work out session or just have clearer mind. Just wanna make a comparaison: imagine all the cables of your connection were forming several nodes and because of that, you manage less and less to capture your connection. And after, when you have unraveled all that, you find your connection back at home and with full hd 4k quality.
    So with the « having dreadloc is like having antennas » thing, do you think the weight of our hair can also Have an impact in our spirit, energy, etc ( it can impact our health cause this is why some ppl cut their hair)
    So I am curious, to know your pov, to know when you are at this level as a teacher and creator on this sector

    • @holisticflo

      Hi! Thanks for your questions, they are great questions! To answer the first one: i will shave my body hair whenever i feel like it. I often let my leg hair grow out for months but hair on other parts of my body i will remove moreso for hygiene reasons. I agree that hair and spirituality goes beyond just the hair on the head. However, i also believe that since our crown is the closest thing to the heavens, that it is the most important antennae we have as it pertains to connection with the divine, which is also what aligns with African Spirituality

    • @holisticflo
      @holisticflo  2 роки тому +1

      To answer your second question, i do think that some people get to a point during their loc journey that their head is so heavy from physical weight OR their locs have attracted so much spiritual energy over the years (mostly negative energy has this effect) that they feel weighted down by their crown. I could certainly see both being possibilities of why people would cut their locs. Great questions again and thanks! 🙌🏾

    • @Deborah_mjr
      @Deborah_mjr 2 роки тому

      @@holisticflo oh yeah thank you for sharing your pov 🙏🏾
      1/ I totally agree with the hygenic reasons 🙏🏾 ( and this is true, cause it remember me when I’d have to go to the hospital. And they shaved me before the interventions). And last part of the connection to the heaven is very interesting
      And I wanna know if pregnant Women cut their loc or not ( because of the bump weight or not 😅 cause this is a positive event in our life so, I wanna know if the weight of the hair can influence it. I will know when I’ll be pregnant ☺️)

    • @Deborah_mjr
      @Deborah_mjr 2 роки тому

      @@holisticflo 2/ I totally understand the different opinion and the reason why ppl cut the hair. I did it myself so, I think it’s not because you let the knot become dreadloc, you have you handle with other type of knot. For exemple Thicker locs doesn’t mean you have to support of the weight of eveything you know. Weight doesn’t have to hurt you physically and mentally, inside or/and outside. I like to feel my finger in my roots and nappy hair when I am doing massage, I like to feel the air like a tree and the lightness in my hair like a horse. You know this balance, I never seen a horse stuggle because of it so 😂 I try to take example for Nature
      And you know what I am just thinking about smth that just came in my mind while i am writing this. 💡🫢
      For me dreadlocs is the representation and the reflection of so much things.
      For exemple The longer is it, the better you know the personal story of someone (especially if she never cut her hair, it’s a storyteller for real, the best witness of your life 🙏🏾👌🏾)
      I am also thinking about 2 characters: Samson And Jesus
      I think ppl don’t wanna cut their hair ( for the most spiritual one), because they have to handle With all the weight: weight of their body, weight of the hair, but first of all weight of everything that happend in the world and aroud them (that affect their mind, so their Energy etc) you know like jesus and the holy cross
      And the second one: Samson lost his strengh and his power because is lost his hair.
      But I am just thinking with a new pov : cause this is also a new start in his life, a new journey. Not only side of the hair story but Also for him.
      Look the before/after the event. It’s like what you said, and « say goodbye to the past, the dramatic event in our life event ». Ppl always take the exemple « don’t cut your hair like samsom for this and this », but I just realized something talking with you and have this new perpective. Cuting hair for new start, new you, not only for bad reason ( i think Lenny Kravitz made it)
      So thank you very much for this moment 🙏🏾👌🏾

      Yes I do. I usually brush my locs after being outside for a long time or whenever I feel it's necessary. I recommend using a soft bristle brush
