Basically Dire Straits was Mark Knopfler and band members, he wrote and composed all the songs, so DS as an act, was just part of his career, so you've got to look at all his solo and collaborative recording over the years as well to appreciate what a great song writer and guitarist he was. One of the greatest IMO.
I remember this concert being shown on channel 4 in the 80's - Epic show. Sultans of swing and tunnel of love were the high points for me. Dire straits were massive at this time but Knopfler decided to walk away and do other stuff.

The version of Money for Nothing from that concert is also fun. had a couple people you may have heard or playing along. Sting, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins on drums.
