Wonderful! Love this version of 'So Far Away' and 'Ride Across the River' from the same Australian concert. They are both such atmospheric and hypnotic performances.
It was my last comment after watching Dominica "blushing" which is strongly established in this video 😂 yes, she blushes so beautifully and subtly! Loved it because I do love Mark and whenever he comes on stage I just start smiling unknowingly❤

This is my favorite version of this song. Giants of the live venue. Dire Straits are one of the few bands I'd rather see live than the studio version..
This was the Calypso version of this song. He switches to the Stratocaster later in the song!

This is known as the calypso version of So Far Away because of the intro, and it is wonderful.

Mark has always had that effect on me too, even now all these years later. I've just been watching all of your reactions, and am enjoying watching you explore the Dire Straits and MK catalogue! I am in the final stages of a terminal ailment, and I've been watching a lot of Dire Straits videos lately; they remind me of good times, lift my spirits and make me smile, and their energy, amazing musicianship and electric performances always / still give me a dopamine and adrenaline rush! It doesn't look as if you've checked out the official video for "Lady Writer" yet? I would love to see you react to that one as well.... I really enjoy it, not only because I am a lady writer myself, or because his finger work on the guitar is awesome, 😉but because it's really upbeat with lots of smiles from Mark throughout 😊
I love this version of the song. The nylon strings at the start do make it sound sort of Hawaiian, I agree with you, Dominika. Another great performance, and another great reaction. Don't worry about being in love with Knopfler, Dominika. I'd marry him if I could 😂

The support guitarist on this tour American Jack Soni was a great player. He always played barefoot on stage. Sadly he died last year aged 66.

La introducción acústica no es del álbum,me atrevería a decir que surgió durante la gira, en el directo de Wembley no tienen esa parte. El directo en Sydney fue el último de una gira mundial de un año y medio, más o menos,si no me equivoco, además llenaron el teatro de Sydney 21 noches seguidas, hasta donde yo sé eso no ha vuelto a ocurrir. Normalmente se ve a Dire straits disfrutando en el escenario pero recomiendo el directo completo porque es el último concierto de una gira brutal,con un éxito fabuloso en todos sus conciertos...se les ve felices y orgullosos de terminar esa aventura musical épica. Cualquier fan de Dire straits debería ver ese concierto porque ha estado bastante escondido hasta hace pocos años,lo recomiendo.
Thank you Roberto. This is a concert that should be known more widely. Dire Straits played some jewels that night and I believe it was the final night of a 236 date tour. The part where Mark K breaks a nail while playing Walk of Life is hilarious and they end with presenting a large cheque to an Australian anti drug charity.
Some guy in another reaction video who actually claims he is a big DS fan said he prefers the studio versions cause Mark "ruins" the songs with his voice in the live concerts. Cause he makes it seem he doesn't care. Well, we know better, don't we? Sure, Mark is no Pavarotti or even Freddy Mercury, but I will be damned if his voice and the music of DS is not a match made in heaven.

I think they did you a bit of a disservice by introducing the song to you with this version since the recorded version is very different. I liked this version but the first time you hear a song it should be the recorded version or a live performance that is very representative of it. It is almost like watching someone covering the song except in this case, the cover band is Dire Straits themselves.
