    This is amAZING.
    My two favourite things about aquariums in one, hair grass and shrimps.
    We don't have any aquarium stores in my place,so I use a glass jar. I planted some hair grass I found in the fields and a shrimp my friend caught for me from the river.
    This video is just awesome.
    Can't wait to see the shrimps in it

    Great video, MD! This was a very enjoyable sort-of back-to-basics tutorial, and I really appreciate your focus on using materials that you can pretty much acquire from around the house, or a quick trip to the hardware store (plants excluded). That bowl came out really well, and I look forward to following its progress, and maybe even scaping a bowl of my own. Keep up the good work!

    So these little no filter nano aquariums are my favourite. I really like the bowl aquariums as well as they are particularly challenging given the magnification the bowl creates.
    Hopefully you enjoy this one guys. I enjoyed it so much, there will be more no filter nano tanks coming soon :)

    Very fine performance young man, I was hooked at the spot because I work with fish bowls for decades. They were some time forbidden by law in Germany. My first aquarium book, published 1929 read by me 1972,shows many things you did . Small amount of normal garden soil baked out and covered it with sand and fill it with mature water, sometimes I give a cup of caiman water on top. Today I run a bowl roughly double the size of yours with a cheap lamp the only technical stuff. Housed is a 7 to 8 years old Betta, a retired natural blue wild one with two inches tail... Built my first gadget to clean the glass out of a champagne's butt and piece of sponge. I apologize, it's a novel wrote, all the best from Northern Germany Ludwig.

And you using kitchen stuff and the wife comments were hilarious, we have all been there haha. And you are absolutely right about being able to put some nano fish in a bowl this size, I have 4 embers and a colony of shrimp in my planted bowl this same size and they are thriving, the fish display the exact behavior you are talking about, so active. Good luck with the UG, such a challenging plant but that would be awesome if you got it going in such a simple setup. Looking forward to more updates on this and all your other projects. Soil and me don't get along at all. Every time I plant, I mess up the substrate. So after a while, I ended up gluing the plants onto the logs and rocks so that if I ever needed to do a full clean for any reason, all I'd need to do is to lift the logs and the rocks. Easy to place back in too.

    Hi MD something so simple but draws you into looking more in depth. Thank you I hardscaped my tank yesterday & after watching this I’m going to take it all out & start again & keep at it until I’m extremely happy instead of just pleased. Thanks Tony

    The utricularia graminifolia is a carnivorous plant and would make this tank impossible for beginners, like myself. Lol. Love your stuff. And so hilarious you chose this to add. I too like the look for this grass. Look forward to see how you manage it!

    I love this video. Am a newbie and want to make my first bowl just like this. But, how do I maintain it? Does it have to be drained and refilled every so often or....? Please let me know as this video is the inspiration I needed to finally try this week. Love the simplicity but so wondering about how to keep it. Thanks!

    • @LyfeInMacro
      @LyfeInMacro Рік тому

      Not much maintenance besides the first week do a couple 50% water change in case of ammonia spike then after its established just do 25% water change every week

    Beautiful set up, I'm brand new to scaping so taking in as many instructional vids as possible, loved the dirt from the garden bit! Now when you talk about cycling, how can you cycle without a filter? Does the beneficial bacteria grow on the hard scape rather than on the filter media in this kind of set up?

    Every tank, whether Salt or freshwater gets algae. If you UV it the tank is clear. I got back into the aquarium hobby with a 2.5 gallon Jar from Walmart. My substrate came from a creek. It was hugely successful, but I wanted more lol. Algae will always be
