I have an HP Envy x360 15.6 with the Ryzen 7 4700U and it gives out a high frequency beep from the left front corner constantly. Sometimes for a second and sometimes for much longer. And I don't want to replace it if that's not the issue
Hi Dale: Great demonstration. I used it on the same laptop to upgrade the RAM to 32GB. I was wondering if you or anyone had any idea why my fan will no longer turn on automatically? I tested it to 80 degrees C, they would not turn on. As per suggestions around the 'net, I checked that the fans work by setting them to "always on" in BIOS. They do work. I checked for BIOS updates, I have the latest. And I did a reset by unplugging the battery again (of course I had when I installed the RAM in the first place, too). But nothing worked. I did get a fan error message on first reboot, that my fan was not working. And there was some sort of BIOS warning, but it went away before I could see what it was... I have the fans running happily away right now, set to always on in BIOS, to protect the CPU and battery. But I don't want them running all the time... I'd like to fix this issue. Anybody have any ideas what would cause this problem?
Well it "fixed itself". I have no idea how. I have Windows Update paused, so it was nothing there. Here is what happened: I rebooted the laptop to BIOS, and disabled the fan setting "always on", then let it boot up. The fan didn't start. The temp was over 70 degrees C in no time, and was climbing as programs in my start up loaded. The fan never came on. So I shut it down again. I booted again to go to BIOS, again, to reset it to "fan always on". But I never got there. I happened to miss hitting f10 in time... and it went to the Windows login screen. The fan was running! So I ran a graphics intense game, and as the temp climbed, the fan got louder, and brought the temp back down to a comfortable 50 to 60 degrees C. I can only guess why this all happened. Is it possible that some parameters are loaded into RAM, and when I replaced the old RAM, I lost them... and they needed to reload again? All this laymen gots. Proto.
Will the Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 Gaming SSD, up to 6600MB/s - CT1000P5PSSD8 work? I have the same laptop, but the regular p5 you used is out of stock on Amazon

QUESTION: @1:35, can the C-type port be upgraded to a Thunderbolt 3.2 or higher? I am in the market of getting a new two in one laptop. I am impressed with the efficiency of the Ryzen 4700 Series. I tried to upgrade to 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus . CLoned using Acronis true image and also tried Macrium Reflect 8. Unable to boot using new SSD after cloning. Goes to Attempting PC repair and then Diagnosing PC and startup repair, no use. ANy suggestion? DIsabled encryption before cloning also disabled secure boot in BIOS. Not sure what I am doing wrong . Disabling secure boot is probably the issue. If you cloned, there is no need to disable secure boot. Disabling that is causing system not too boot, most likely.

I just bought the exact same upgrades per your video, does this increase the heat output from the hardware since it’s more efficient? Just curious I’m new to upgrading and don’t want to fry anything lol
Increasing the hard drive and memory shouldn't affect the temperature. The CPU and GPU are responsible for most of the heat from your computer, and will scale based on how much work they're doing.
@@ericbarryofficial1895 If you want to game, you need a dedicated graphics card. But you'll likely sacrifice battery life if you get a laptop with one.
This is a great video. I appreciate the links to Spudger Tool . Question: Do you thin the rubber strips would be easier to remove and less likely to stretch if they were heated a little with a hair dryer?
Umm...actually they come over very easy once you get an end lifted up. Heating them may stretch or shrink them. Never had an issue. Dale. Guess you could try it. No real harm.
Hi Dale- I just bought the HP Envy x360 15-ed1008ca and several times have been surprised at how the fan suddenly comes on hi-speed [vs coming on sooner at low speed] and quite loud for 5 to 10 minutes & occasionally a lot longer longer. [Only ever 70 to 72F in the room] I saw someone who said it's mostly when charging due to the heat of the fast charge for the first 50% of charging which I've been watching and seems to be true. But since I've been watching for that, a couple of times that's the case but when I look in the HP Command center and the temp there has cooled off the fan just keeps running unless I do a restart then it doesn't come on after start up. Any idea if these pcs just have a problem with that? It has a bigger 51Whr battery. Thx for any thoughts Dale. Also I just thought I wonder if the fast charge program for the first 50% of charge can be turned off. I don't ever need that. Thx
Hi. This is not uncommon for all of the x360 models. You might wanna check for a bios/firmware update. Also, go into bios and check for a fan control option. Some have it, some dont.
@@CadillacComputerCenter Thank you Dale!! So far I've just gone into HP Command ceter where there's the choice of Balance, Performance, Cool and Quiet > I chose Cool. Anywhere you could point me to learn how to go into Bios?
I did this and it said have best drivers: Update the BIOS automatically using Device Manager: Windows Device Manager > Expand Firmware > Double-click > Select Driver tab > Click Update Driver > Click Search automatically for updated driver software. Maybe that's all you meant by bios update? And also Windows updates are complete. Thx

Hi
Is it compatible with Kingston PCle 4.0 NVMe M2?
Thank you so much! 😊
Amazing Tutorial. My question is that after upgrading the components, how were you able to reattached the rubber feet back to the bottom of the laptop? I assume that the adhesive would have to be reapplied. If the rubber feet cannot reattach, were can I order replacements with new adhesive strips or gel? Thanks.
Hi. There is plenty of adhesive to easily re apply the feet. But, any type of glue or adhesive will work as well. Dale
@@CadillacComputerCenter Thanks, by the way, I have the DS1083cl model. What's the maximum ram capacity that you could upgrade. 16 GB or 32 GB dual channel?
Thanks so much for a great video! That was very helpful! Keep up the great work!
I'm working on my own HP Envy x360 , swapping out its 250Gb SATA for a 500Gb SATA.
System won't detect the 500Gb SATA. Oddly, it will accept an NVMe stick, but only if I install it UPSIDE DOWN!
And even tho it's upside down it boots and Windows 11 runs fine with it.
I couldn't help notice you removed a SATA drive and installed an NVMe stick. How does that work???
Do you have a tutorial for this but when the wi-fi is on the bottom of the motherboard? HP ENVY x360 - 15m-ds0012dx thanks!
@cadillac computer can this M2 2280 NVME be installed in my HP Envy x360 convertible 15m-bp0xx???
same chasis on hp envy x360 15-ds1063cl? how do i know what type of ram i get?
This is really helpful, thank you so much!
Would this revoke ur warranty?
Thank you bro, excellent explanation. 👍🏼
Thank you. Dale
Can I change ssd while working on a wooden table ?
Hi i just bought a new envy 15.6 hp x360. Can i upgrage the ram and ssd in this new model?
Yes you can!! I have the HP Envy X360 the 2022 version and i upgraded both the memory and the hard drive but its really hard to get the back cover off
Gracias amigo excelente video, saludos
Thks I get the HP Envy x360 instead of the Lenovo Flex 5 then (the can't be upgraded)
I have the HP Envy x360 15m -ed1023dx. This is an Intel and when I did not see the drive. It is seated secure but in the HO forums they say you have to install the a driver for the Intel because it is an Intel 11th gen core processor and they posted a link to a page telling you how to do this with Windows 10 and 11. But that page is gone and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to fix this. Can you help? They say the driver contains the Intel rapid storage technology driver for these notebooks and OSs. But how in the world do you install it when you can’t get Windows Media to even see the SSD?
Hello, I have a HP Envy x360 convertible ee1000 model, it has 16gb ram and 256gb Harddrive i just ordered the 1TB crucial P5 NVMe ssd but according to crucials website my ram is not upgradable? is it still possible to upgrade it? id really like at least 32gb of ram x16
Thanks for your videos, they make diy very smooth
I have an HP Envy x360 15.6 with the Ryzen 7 4700U and it gives out a high frequency beep from the left front corner constantly. Sometimes for a second and sometimes for much longer. It happens during startup, anytime I use the on board speakers, when updating a program and other times. I'm assuming by the location of the noise that it's an ssd issue but I'm not sure. And I don't want to replace it if that's not the issue
I have this laptop, could I install 2 32GB sticks instead of 2 16GB's?
adding slower memory? stock comes with 3200?
Here is what happened:
I rebooted the laptop to BIOS, and disabled the fan setting "always on", then let it boot up.
Proto.
Can you add faster memory?? 2666 isn't that fast.. maybe 3200 even?
Supposedly, coz 4500u supports 3200mhz ddr4
My ryzen 7 variant has 3200 so definitely
how about serial numer of windows os?
I wish you benchmarked the speed before and after, I have this laptop and would love to know if this is worthwhile
Yes
Will the Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 Gaming SSD, up to 6600MB/s - CT1000P5PSSD8 work? I have the same laptop, but the regular p5 you used is out of stock on Amazon
Yes, that drive should work, but keep in mind this model is pci-e gen 3. So it will run at those speeds.
@@CadillacComputerCenter totally makes sense. Thanks so much for this, a few places online as well as geeksquad said this computer CANT be updated and I was super discouraged because I just bought it 🤦🏾♂️
Heya Dale. Great video. I was wondering what the model number is for that hp envy? I ask because some models have non upgradable ram.
All the best dude.
James .
Hey, thanks for watching. I cant recall exactly, but at the very beginning of video that info pops up on screen in red box. Dale
@@CadillacComputerCenter Cheers Dale, unfortunately, it doesn't have the model number but you did say it was a brand new one, so I assume its the 2020 version. I'll do a little more digging before I buy for upgradability. Thanks, man, have a good one.
Here ya go....15m-ee013dx
@@CadillacComputerCenter Ah Brilliant, Thank you very much, Dale. Stay safe. :)
@@CadillacComputerCenter Hi Dale, Happy New Year. I have the same model with same RAM but with Intel I5. Could This one will be upgradable too?
QUESTION: @1:35, can the C-type port be upgraded to a Thunderbolt 3.2 or higher?
I am in the market of getting a new two in one laptop. I am impressed with the efficiency of the Ryzen 4700 Series. But none of them support the Thunderbolt 3.2 full functional range! It is very much the dealbreaker for me; if not I plan to purchase the Intel version.
No thunderbolt is newer pc or mac by intel
I would like you to help me with a decision, I am looking for a 2 in 1 laptop, I already decided to buy the hp envy x360 ryzen 5 5500 uor 7 but I am not sure if it's better to buy now or wait to ryzen zen 3 arquitecture, I would really aprreciate to know what you think about it!
I have the very same question!
What’s the maximum speed of RAM this model can support?
You should be good up to 3200mhz. Dale
@@CadillacComputerCenter thanks for the speedy reply!
Thanks
Disabling secure boot is probably the issue. If you cloned, there is no need to disable secure boot. Disabling that is causing system not too boot, most likely.
@@CadillacComputerCenter ok thanks will try with secure boot enabled
@@CadillacComputerCenter I received an answer in HP forum that My model HP Envy X360 Convertible 15-Ed0xxx supports only upto 1TB ssd as per the maintenance manual.
@@CadillacComputerCenter you are correct. Enabled secure boot and it detected and booted with 2TB ssd without any issues. Thank you very much for your help. Its weird why HP manual says supported only upto 1TB. Thanks
@@CadillacComputerCenter Also what is the max memory for hp envy x360 15-ed0xxx core i7 - 2*16gb? Thanks
hi, a question: do you think is it possible to add a dedicated GPU on this laptop?
I just bought the exact same upgrades per your video, does this increase the heat output from the hardware since it’s more efficient? Just curious I’m new to upgrading and don’t want to fry anything lol
Increasing the hard drive and memory shouldn't affect the temperature. The CPU and GPU are responsible for most of the heat from your computer, and will scale based on how much work they're doing.
Hi is this laptop good for gaming I'm planning on buying one soon
No, not a good gaming laptop, maybe basic, light duty gaming..
@@CadillacComputerCenter but it has 8gb ram and 256gb hdd😭😭
@@ericbarryofficial1895 If you want to game, you need a dedicated graphics card. But you'll likely sacrifice battery life if you get a laptop with one.
This is a great video. I appreciate the links to Spudger Tool
I did this and it said have best drivers:
Update the BIOS automatically using Device Manager: Windows Device Manager > Expand Firmware > Double-click > Select Driver tab > Click Update Driver > Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
Maybe that's all you meant by bios update?
And also Windows updates are complete. Thx
As soon as you power on laptop, start tapping F10 key. Should get you into bios. Be careful in there. Dale
@@CadillacComputerCenter ok thx, Do you know of any way to make it so it doesn't do fast charging? just regular rate? Thank you
It says this laptop is using a m.2 sata3 ssd... I want to upgrade storage.. Do i have to replace with m.2 sata3 drive or nvme will do? Someome please advice
i just got this laptop so thank you for this!!! question though, should i do a “windows fresh start” or just delete the bloatware like mcafee?
always fresh install then debloat
So, there is no problem with upgrading the original M.W NVMe 256Gb SSD with "B&M Key" to a M.W NVMe 1Tb SSD with just the "M Key"?
So the documentation on the Hp indian site for this model says that the 8Gigs of RAM is onboard. Would it be possible to upgrade that?
No
I have tried to reinstall the old drive several times and the drive is not seen by the computer. However, I CAN read the drive connected usb to another machine. The drive is fine and the ribbon cable connection LOOKS correct, but you don't hear it spin up and the machine boots to not find a drive. Any common errors here. Possibly need a new ribbon cable? anything else?
I'm trying to perform this exact upgrade do to a failed ssd. When trying to install windows 10 on Crucial P5 it says it needs a media driver. This is AMD poweredand
I've tried everything I know from USB install to DISC install, swapping USB ports and pointing it to every driver available for the Envy on HP site and nothing.
still stuck with no install. Can you help?
PS. I'm not new to this. I've been around PC's since windows 2.0 and RLL, MFM hard drives but so far this has whipped me.
Hello, I am a new subscriber to your channel and I wanted to ask you if doing a fresh install of windows this way would it cause any driver issues? Is cloning better, I am just trying to confirm what someone told me. Someone told me that doing windows install this way can run into driver issues. A response would be appreciated.
Hi. On a new model like this, a clean install will be fine. In general, you won't have any driver issues. Its very easy to get drivers from HP if needed. Windows updates will give you all your drivers. Dale
@@CadillacComputerCenter thanks a million.
Help! I bought a new HP Envy 17 cg0003ca with 256 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD from Costco. It comes pre-installed with an HP-branded Windows 10 Home.
I tried to make this laptop dual boot with Windows 10 Pro. But it crashes with a blue screen “Your PC/Device needs to be repaired” error code: 0x000000e. 👎 (I did the exact same dual boot set-up on my Dell laptop and did not have any issue.)
Could this have anything to do with the HP-branded Windows 10 Home version that is pre-installed with the HP Envy 17? Do I need to reformat the whole hard drive and install a clean Windows 10 Pro base OS in order to do dual boot on this HP Envy 17?
Can you do a video on creating Windows 10 dual boot on the HP Envy 17?
PLEASE HELP! 🙏
What did you do to fix this?
Where did you buy there parts
okay so i'm not to computer savvy but i am a mechanic by trade, this seems pretty difficult but still very possible to do myself. My question is, what should i do before installing new RAM and SSD? More specifically do i just back up my current files and Windows into an external hard drive or how does that work? My computer really needs this upgrade.
PS. My HP Envy is a slightly different model than this one. It does not have a USB C port and has the charger port in the left side. Where could i purchase the correct parts?
Can you do this if you got the envy x360 with windows PRO? The video linked didn’t mention how to boot with windows pro
