- Irish teacher Ben Kavanagh has become an unexpected internet sensation.
His videos for Channel 4 News of everyday life throughout the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic have been watched by millions, offering a unique insight into what it's like to be caught up in the middle of a global outbreak.
From exploring Wuhan's deserted streets to being held in quarantine for 14 days, Ben has filmed every step of his journey.
He has shown what everyday life is like behind the headlines which have swept around the world.
Braving a city in lockdown to go shopping. Spending his birthday in his flat alone as the virus rapidly spreads through China. Being evacuated to the UK. Living for over two weeks in quarantine - and finally being reunited with his family.

Unabashed a household pet, more specifically a dog, has already tested positive for the virus, and is currently in quarantine. So yes, it was smart to stay away.

Yes! I received an E-mail from a Chinese company I'd ordered some auto parts from, satisfied with the trade off of low price for the usual 2 to 5 week shipping time, that said, "Sorry, we are preparing a refund of your purchase price due to the shutdown the Corona virus has caused. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."
I teared up, INCONVENIENCE?? God man! What's MY inconvenience compared to yours? I replied, "Don't worry, I will wait and not complain to eBay about any delay. We in America send you and your country our best wishes for health and recovery of business. Be well."

Literally remember watching this when it was released at the time thinking "man that's so messed up" having no idea that the same thing would happen here (UK). So strange watching back now thinking how normal it actually is.

Yes it was a lovely image. When my child was 5 she had a male Irish teacher. She 13 now but still remembers him as her favourite.

because everyone is asked to stay at home and avoid contact with other people outside your household as much as possible right now. They took all people who are confirmed into the hospital and they set up hotels with single room for all contact people just in case. My hometown is Wuhan and I'm working in Europe. My families are more worried about me than about any family member in Wuhan...

We were proud to welcome the evacuees to the Wirral. Little did I know that less than a year later, in the New Year, I would be blue-lighted five minutes up the rd to Arrowe Park Hospital myself to be put on a ventilator due to COVID! The paramedics & staff at APH saved my life. I will always be truly grateful to everyone who took such great care of me there.
