Don't usually comment on these but I've been watching a lot of knife build/restoration vids lately... and I gotta say your end product is one of the best that I've seen so far. Very classy design. You're one helluva craftsman.
Thanks! About 4 days for making a knife + 2 days for video editing. Usually I have about 2-3 hours of recordings from the workshop. I know from my own experience that when some video is about 20 minutes I do not usually watch it completely. That's why I'm trying to make short and not boring videos ;)
That knife is Awesome Great eye for detail you sir are a true craftsman I bet drilling all the holes and shaping the handle took a lot of time The knife turned out great. I had to add this to my favorite list so I can show of your work to others. Thanks
Really love how this video captures all the steps of making the knife in only 5 mins instead of 20 or 30!! I do enjoy longer videos for more detailed info, but its really nice to see such a quick video that still covers the entire process! Nice job man!
Great video but that looks so uncomfortable to hold. No grip and sharp angles. I mean I have seen people hold their knives doing rough sh1t for awhile at a time. This looks blister inducing
So why do all these knifesmiths on "Forged in Fire" do all of that forging and hammering and forging and hammering ad finitum to make a knife out of a car leaf spring when the shape can just be cut out of the leaf spring???? BTW, loved your video.
This is machining a knife not forging. Machining is a a really quick way to make a blade well enough to be proud of and a great introduction to forging.
Many makers only use the stock removal technique. I dont believe it should be assumed as lesser work in any way. Stock removal means you will spend far more time at the grinder using alot more abrasives and is less steel economical. Forging is to take a piece of steel and shape it, not only profiling but adding bevels and reducing thickness prior to grinding. Five minutes of forging can actually save half an hour at the grinder with far less wastage. With quality blade steel in abundance and not every maker carrying the physical attributes to swing a hammer for long sessions, stock removal has become popular. Not my preferred method but no less skillful or time economical.
Ground In Fire or perhaps Drilled in Fire is the next incarnation of the show. But for now forging is a very specific term for a very specific process. Oops I forgot, Cast in Fire.
John C Im not sure compacting is the right word but forging does reaarange the grain structure of the steel which in turn, if done correctly can make the blade tougher. This is more to do with heat treatment than the forging process though and we are talking minute amounts on the scale
Awesome video M.N. Projects! You do some amazing work on your channel :) I would love to make a knife from scratch but I'm just starting up. I'm in the process of making a handle and sheath for a blade, part 1 is on my channel and part 2 should be coming in the not too distant future :) I'm mainly a wood worker but I also like to try new things like stone carving and knife making. I'll have to make myself a belt grinder so I can finally have some power tools! I'm using mostly hand tools at the moment. Keep up the amazing work my friend and hopefully you will check out my little channel :)
HANDLE? You ran a great marathon and then you shaaat diarrhea down your legs and all over the last 50 yards of the track!!??!! Why even put such thin gauge cord on the tang/handle-area to begin with??!!?? Like I said - many good things happening at times!
Greatest craftsmanship I've ever seen this is just the most awesome thing where did you learn to do this you must have had some massive instruction beautiful design beautiful bounce I can't say it enough this is awesome
What I learnt from you? Ans. A hardworking person is an asset to a country's progress. A country can only progress through industrialization. (Seeing your videos, makes me very innovative.)
Erik Moreno , that's exactly what I want to know. how long in oven and at what temperature ?? usually it's around 500 degrees @ about 2 to 4 hours. depending on thickness of steel and what type. I'd say 500 @ 2 1/2 hours should be fine to relax and relieve stresses in steel.
This knife is gorgeous, while you were at it, you should have made two ,I want one. BTW, if it was me I would even use copper string to give it a gold tone and wouldn't melt in case it comes in contact with fire ,this is a no BS man's knife ,it looks very solid and something that Navy Seals would use, great job.
Awesome video. No bullshit. No boring music , or life story and clickbait. It's straight to the point. Thank you!
I like my knife making videos like I like my porn, no click bait no music, no life story and straight to the anal penetration
and no one saying: Dont forget to like, subcribe, share ecetera.

Videos are done with no dull or boring points. How long did it take for this knife build?
Looks amazing.

@Ja Z - Was that pun unintentional?
FloydTheSandwich : LMAO, never saw it till you pointed it out. You're pretty SHARP
BAH HAHAHA. Have a good night
I love the lack of BS in your vidz. I watch them at 2 times speed and they are twice as satisfying.
They are definitely not boring, but tell me, how many times have you been to hospital to remove pieces of metal from your eye? Be honest...
OH! very nice knife and video. Good job
That was a unique handle! It goes without saying that you have amazing craftsmanship but seriously this was one unique design!

Good job man.
You have got talent brother. Hats off to your dedication and innovation. I wish i could ever come across a craftsman like you.
Great hand work. Master with a file
Great craftsmanship, wonderful knife.
Fat knife? Excuse me sir, the correct term is plus sized. Stop the body shaming.
Ehab Shanan the correct term is T H I C C
tomi tuchsznajder you mean T H I C C C
extra size knife
Its just big boned
"curvy"
M.N is by far the best knife maker ever
did not expect that handle, but that is okay
This was truly fantastic! Well done! Thanks!
🎬 Excellent 📹 Video 🎥! _ Congratulations! 👍 🇧🇷
A joy to watch! Very impressive work!
The knife looks amazing without the cord on the handle.
I would think the cord would give a better grip, though.
Cord is also very handy if your hunting or in a survival situation. You can always redo the cord. That’s a long piece of cord in a compact area.
There’s no apostrophe in “detectorists”
Maybe it belongs to a single eccentric detectorist, and is proclaiming the ownership? Come to think of it, what's a detectorist anyway?
Simplistic with clean lines! A no-nonsense design!
I love your videos :)
OMFG1324 kb ok k ml I mackerel.
It's a pleasure to watch a professional work
your finishing touch are very good.. I really appreciate your works.. from India

Great video but that looks so uncomfortable to hold. No grip and sharp angles. I mean I have seen people hold their knives doing rough sh1t for awhile at a time. This looks blister inducing
At least he made it for himself and not selling it to anyone exept

I can't understand how a thousand people can dislike an art like that.

Forging also compacts the metal, making it much more dense. Once forged and heat treated it can make a much tougher blade.

Awesome video. I want to try making a knife with a leaf spring too. How long did you temper the knife and at how many F°? Thank you!
Erik Moreno , that's exactly what I want to know.
how long in oven and at what temperature ??
usually it's around 500 degrees @ about 2 to 4 hours. depending on thickness of steel and what type. I'd say 500 @
2 1/2 hours should be fine to relax and relieve stresses in steel.
