  • This is a great fishing knot for making small loop knots on micro swimbaits and paddle tail minnows. A loop knot allows for the swimbait to have more range of movement, which means more wiggle and more fish!

    Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! I've looked at a bunch of loop knot videos. Till now they were all a bit of a challenge to tie with my 74 yr old not so flexible fingers. I recently got interested in trying out crappie fishing with 1/32 oz jigs and "Richard Gene the Fishing Machine" strongly advises that a loop knot greatly enhances the jig's action. This knot will allow me to easily tie a loop knot when changing jigs out in the boat. In gratitude, I'll give your baits a try.

      So glad it helped you! Thank you for the good words. I too watch Richards videos! He is great fun.

    I always use this knot even for applications where a loop isn’t necessary because it has never failed me like a few others have. My only problem is I sometimes end up with no loop. Following the way you tighten it (pull lightly with the tag end then cinch down with the standing end) should cure that problem. Thanks.

    nice work getting it small. that is a variation of a lefty's loop. I only do 2 turns before putting it back thru the loop and it never breaks

    I use Canoe Man Loop for flyfishing. Extremely easy and strong. Saw it on Capt. Chris Myers UA-cam channel years ago. 👍🎣👌

      Yeah. That is a good one too. Maybe I should do a video on that one too down the road. Thanks!

    One of my most used favorite knots to join line to lure.

      @@Moondogbaitco I want the lure to be able to freely move to maximum.... The loop knot fits the bill

    Very interesting, thank you.
    An alternative would be the "perfection loop", the go-to knot for fly fishing. Which reminds me, I need to look that up again myself. :)

    Nice, easy directions. A contrasting background(black paper?) might help visual.

    I have been using the loop knot on small swimbaits and I've noticed that there is another canoeman's loop knot that the tag end aims rearward when done. Makes it more weedless. I have not learned how to tie it yet though.

    • @Moondogbaitco
      @Moondogbaitco  Рік тому

      Yeah. A few other guys mentioned that one too. This one does have a tag end that faces more rearward than some others. But not sure as much as the canoe knot or not?

  • @cclawman
    @cclawman Рік тому +2

    That is a Lefty Kreh loop knot, been around for decades. You tied it wrong though. The tag will come out toward the eye if you run the line through the overhand knot going front to back then back to front.

    Might be a good idea to use a coloured line that shows up against the background rather than using cammo realtree stealth gear 😂😂😂🤷‍♂️

    This is the only knot I've ever known to tie loop knots, I was hoping to learn a new knot. Is this not the knot everyone uses? If knot, which knot do they use, show me that, teach me something new.
