@robert branham The LFA and Carrera GT do sound AMAZING!!!! however at well over a million $$$ you can't really take them out and enjoy them as you can a 120k 355.the smallest little mishap in a LFA or CGT could cost you hundreds of thousands on paper when you go to sell. it would be nice to be in a position where that wasn't an issue...
And just like that, the owner made the day for untold thousands of petrolheads the world over merely by tossing someone a set of keys.
Amazing video and car! My only experience of a 355 was starting one up while it was still in gear and it nearly jumped into the wall that it was parked up to! I was only 18 and my heart has never gone so fast.
355 is the only supercar of any kind I've been in and I remember it so clearly. it was phenomenal I absolutely adored it. bright red with cream interior flying around Monaco. what a car

Great video, During my lifetime I have owned 5 355’s, with some being manual or paddle. Of course no need to tell you my favorite transmission. There’s nothing better than a manual and you are so correct in your analysis that it’s not about how fast 0 - 60 but it’s how you get there that makes the 355 so great to drive. My last 355 was purchased by Scott (Ratarossa)from here in States and I recently after almost 5 year absence purchased another 355. It cost double what I paid for the last one now almost 6 years ago but it was worth every dollar. Never selling again my son will inherit this one along with many other cars in my possession. So glad to see you enjoy an iconic car during the 90’s era.
I agree. So special. I've owned my early manual F355 for 14 years now. One of the greatest Ferrari's. Could never sell it. Other cars come and go in my collection but the F355 is the greatest for me. I was in mine this morning. Takes an hour or two to get the smile off your face.
How about the maintenance costs?

It's still the one I'm going to buy and I've said this for many years manual cars with around 400 BHP (375bhp for the Ferrari nerds) are just the sweet spot for road driving
It's perfect power for the road, the noise has never been bettered, and an open gate Ferrari is motoring perfection.

Mine has the standard exhaust, (more subtle, but still howls) which I personally prefer, but Kudos to the guy who chose the Capristo - great sound too.
GREAT point about being able to floor it in 1st and 2nd and not die or get a speeding ticket...That is a very under-appreciated aspect of older supercars...
I love this cars, I used to own one in 2007 and have had several newer Ferraris after but I had to go back to old times and buy F355 GTS, now in for full restoration. The 355 is car I will never sell

Tbf a 355 is all the performance you need on the road and with that exhaust. Simply sublime. A 360 would be similar but better controlled and quicker but not has beautiful as the 355 imo.
WOW!! The audible colors in that exhaust sound are friggin’ brilliant!! Your comments about not having to be moving at blinding speeds and feeling all the thrill coming out of the exhaust and through the rowing of the manual gears is spot on my man. You get the same sort of thrill with an American big or small block V8 that has a nice open manual gearbox and just the right tight sounding exhaust roar. Doesn’t need to slam your buttcheeks into the seat, it simply needs to have that perfect sound and all feels hit all the right spots. Great stuff!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻

The P330 P4 is probably the best sounding Ferrari and one of the most beautiful.
Sound wise, the 355 is close, I mean for a road car it's bonkers and if you are a kid from the 80s the shape is just iconic, dar I say it, to my eyes even more so than an F40, as this is elegant and truly beautiful as well.
What a car, damn good video mate, nobody could stage or fake those emotions.

My second favorite Ferarri, after the F50 (with a Tubi exhaust)...because hey, nothing beats a NA V12 that revs to nearly 9k RPM.

I had a Rosso red with creme interior 355 Spider with the same exhaust for two years . Was the best driving experience of my life. Sounded like you had a man with a trumpet trapped in the boot . Roof down in tunnels was the best

I recently bought an argento nurburgring (silver) Berlinetta with manual box and Tubi Style exhaust. It's an epic car. I took the engine out to do a major service (including the timing belts) last week and I'm giddy now in anticipation of putting "her" back together and making some sweet noise very soon and all Summer long! Thanks for the great vid.

I had a 355 GTS... what a car, what a noise.. but they can be costly to maintain. Engine out for a cambelt change every five years..manifold issues are common. But one of the great looking Ferraris.

Sensible speed, ridiculous noise. This is why I love my N/A Rotary Rx8 that's tastefully modified.
For the rotary fans it's a, N/A Semi Peripheral, half Bridge, street port 13b Rx8. S5 irons with renesis essentric shaft and rotors. Rx8 is hitting the scales at 1226kg/2700lbs wet.
Exhaust is 2 inch titanium cat back, AEM cold air intake adapted to K&N typhooCarbon airbox for legality reasons.
Full carbon fibre doors, hood etc as I added lots of weight in larger radiators, duel oil coolers and trans cooler. Installing a haltech and a duel fuel system soon. Plan is to turbo charge once I've got another daily driver and the time and money, ultimately plan on getting a pandem aero kit and using most of those parts.
Want to make about 450hp atw so it's responsive. Once turbocharged I will get a full bridge port and extended port.
That car is awesome and the sound is phenomenal old school is so cool. You should most definitely get one, be great to see it on your channel.

This is a dream car, my dream car... this is not only about the performances, the speed, the pursuit of the best numbers that you can get...This car is all about emotions, sexy design (pininfarina....), to drive this car you have to use both legs and both arms, this car is the "click clack" between the gears, the pop up lights and the sound, the noise, the goose bumps that you feel growing up from the back to the arms matching with the increase of the speed and this high revving engine. 0 to 62 in 5", 186 mph (or something like that), in not slow and is not fast like the present cars, but, for sure, this car gives smile every time you floor the throttle. Well done James!!
355....that sound is legend amongst petrol heads. Thats why EV's will never replace these.

Great video. Great sound. This would be so much more fun on the road than a 720s because of the fact you can have the fun and not be doing insane speeds in seconds, all about the experience, not the speed. Hence why I build my cars light and focus on response and excitement over pure power.

Ferrari totally peaked in the 90's early 00's.
Probably the last great car they made was the Enzo on sound alone.

there was a time where being in the 12's in the quarter mile was fast lol The 355 and 360 with exhaust (360 stradale as example) two of the best sounding cars ever made (with exhaust) You can massage these motors (355-360) get them in the 11's and have that sound, nothing stirs the soul more. I hope you get one, get the exhaust . It would be great but massaging the motor just a bit , can you imagine the 355 , for how light it is, with about 450hp?

OMG!!! the 355 was literally my Fav Ferrari as a kid.
I had one of these for 4 years, a red 95 Berlinetta with Capristo stage 2. All it takes is sitting in the driver seat, feeling like you're in something special, getting a whiff of that Ferrari leather, and then taking it for a spirited drive. Once that exhaust wails and you change that gated shifter, you'll be hooked and you'll want to own it like I did. I had a much faster 997 Turbo S before it which I didn't mind selling to get this. I knew maintenance was going to be a lot costlier but I didn't care. It was my dream car and I had to own it.

F355 is a great car. With gated shifter perfect blend of drivability and engagement with decent comfort. I ended up with a gated PreLP Gallardo as I wanted something that (may be) will be cheaper to own but also sounds great. But the F355 and test drive is stuck in my brain as well forever.
I can't even imagine. I would never stop driving this car.

The 355 and the F50 are hands down the nicest sounding Ferraris ever, ( and out if all cars ). The Next generations of V8 and V12 were louder but more monotone ( especially with the V8s and the current turbo ones).
