I love that the poor courier was so trauamtised and then had to watch Gab's boat just fricking explode a few feet away. He is NOT recovering from that xD
The fact that the large angler resembles a small fishing boat is a really nice detail because it 1) makes players curious and then terrified, and in doing so, 2) illustrates the fish's preferred prey. It pretends to be a boat to attract humans *specifically*. Such a great game. The geology of the islands is also so neat. I could go on about hexagonal column formation, archipelago volcanism, the links to oceanic habitats, etc. Even the mutated fish are something that reflects real life - heavily polluted waters spawn abnormal (double headed, missing limbs, strange colors...) organisms much more often than clean ones. Really looking forward to the rest of the playthrough and definitely hoping for a completionist run.
I have never liked a game with this gameplay style before in my life but, for some strange reason, watching you play this has changed that completely and I ended up buying the deluxe version of this game and am currently enjoying it to the moon and back.
Hope she completes the encyclopedia -one of the reasons I love Gab is that she’s a completist for most games and it’s extremely satisfying as a completist myself lol
That tentacle attack scared the crap out of me! Also I love how Gab started out like, going back to dock at 4 pm to avoid being out at night, and now she's blithely pulling all-nighters and using the sanity-draining haste to cross open waters at night. Gab! There's confidence and then there's recklessness!

So addicted to this series. I love how it's a mix of timing/rhythm mini-game, a Tetris-esque mini-game, a risk/reward time management game, a gotta-catch-em all game, and a mystery/eldritch horror story all in one.
Tip: an equivalent number of Jet Drive Engines is better than any of the outboard engines (in other words, two JDEs are better than an Improved Outboard Engine and three JDEs are better than a Refined Outboard Engine). There's also the benefit of less of an impact to your boat's speed from damage: if you take damage and RNG decides it's one of your engine slots that gets damaged, if you have a bunch of JDEs installed, you only lose one engine. The only engines better than the JDE (again, using engine speed per slot as the metric) are the Twin JDE and the Engine Stack.
gab's absolute refusal to ever go to bed at a normal hour is so funny. people are definitely wildly confused by this fisherman who consistently stays up for like a day and a half/two days straight and then sleeps for another full day.
Her tetris skills is fire, idk why I'm so happy that she does it. I also empathize with the night owls 'I can do more!' even when you really shouldn't. I also love that there's like good reasons to explore too.

for anyone who isnt sure about what 'hadal' means and what that zone is. the hadal zone is an area deeper than abyssal depths it's named after Hades but also a name for hadopelagic zone which is the deepest part of the ocean in deep trenches so around 6,000 to 11,000 meters (3.7 to 6.8 miles) deep. it is complete darkness there and the water is just above freezing levels.

The DM for one of my D&D games said that he was inspired slightly by Dredge for the "we are on a ship in an ocean with a lot of islands" part of the campaign last session. I have never been more excited and more terrified.
I love watching Gab's gameplay of Dredge so much! literally just finished watching the first part two days ago and ever since then after work, I keep checking back Gab's page if a new episode dropped. Today was a particularly tiring day for me and this popped up first thing on my feed, what a blessing T T Thank you sm Gab! time to unwind and enjoy this during the weekend ☺☕
I might have gotten the game from seeing how much fun Gab and Jack were having playing it. It's really fun and never realized I wanted to play as a little fishing boat.
I love watching Gab's videos because they are just so fun and cute even when she's doing horror games like these and she does a lot more of the games content before completing it. She never fails to put a smile on my face.
Look at Gab. Look at her. She's the captain now. 😊 Also my first thought seeing that ship at 37:33 was One-Eyed Willy's ship, the Inferno, is still sailing to this day 😊 (Goonies)
Been trying to figure out why I love the music so much before realizing it reminds me of Professor Layton music. For a fishing horror game, this sure has cozy vibes
This is one of my comfort rewatches. I love Sean’s for other reasons but I enjoy the completionist in your content. I keep drifting back to this video by the both of you when I’m stressed out. It’s got the right amount of scary and the artwork is so gorgeous. I just have so much fun watching because I absolutely could NOT play this.
Dear God, I have a deep seeded fear of the ocean, particularly when I can't see the bottom or anything so when cathulu's tentacle attacked I damn near shit out some organs and despite my phone being quite far away I still visibly recoiled out of a sense of self preservation. Damn good game though
I am surprised something does not lean more into the time mechanic of this game. I feel like the Travelling Merchant could be open all hours but the Fishmonger or the Shipright should only be open during business hours which I guess would be 6 - 6 in this game. Also, everyone's doors seem to be unlocked and you can talk whenever. No one tried to shoo you away or tells you to wait till morning.

I feel sorry for the fisherman. Being made to fish for over 24 hours, in terrifying conditions, using Eldritch powers that damage his sanity, his nerves are constantly shot to bits. I may take longer, but my fisherman rarely gets past the green eye state because he gets plenty of sleep (unlike me IRL).

Don’t forget about the spot with the bolt of cloth you didn’t get! It was around where the long big fish was attacking. You didn’t deplete the spot because you physically couldn’t get it, you only had 1 possible empty square haha. 😊 just a reminder!
A neat trick I found, if you're ever stuck somewhere in the middle of the night, go dredge or fish somewhere and just constantly fail. Time goes by quickly but the equipment doesn't have any durability. Unless you're being chased by something, then you should skedaddle first.
The way I would absolutely permanently give up 4 inventory slots and never take any more risks or advance further in the game just so I could keep that dog
I got this game thanks to Gab's playthrough and I love it. I've been eagerly awaiting this episode too since Gab seems to enjoy the game as much as I do, if not more.
Just got this game this past weekend based on your gameplay.... it's so much fun! It's taking me forever to finish some quests - and every time I see sparkles and head towards it, my boat is so slow it disappears before I can get to it. My bf watches me play it and he keeps urging me "Go out at night, I wanna see the monsters!" and I'm like "No, they bang up your boat and I'm too slow to avoid them -- I need to fish in the daylight to get better engines so I can survive the nights!"
I just finished the game myself and immediately came here, to watch Gab play it since I know most of the stuff now if not all. The game was totally worth it but I love watching other people play it when I have down time as well 😊
After I saw you play this game in the first part, I bought it for myself binged it to the end in three days! :D And I cant normally handle any horror at all. But this game is tame enough for me while still being butt-clenchingly spooky 😂I love this game! Thank you for introducing it to us, Gab ❤

A neat trick I found, if you're ever stuck somewhere in the middle of the night, go dredge or fish somewhere and just constantly fail. Time goes by quickly but the equipment doesn't have any durability. Unless you're being chased by something, then you should skedaddle first.
Not me yelling “GAB THE SQUID!” 😂
Yay! Watched Jack start playing it too! Now gonna watch both of the playthroughs lol
The way I would absolutely permanently give up 4 inventory slots and never take any more risks or advance further in the game just so I could keep that dog
My anxiety wouldn't be able to handle me playing this myself.
Yes! Been waiting for this
I got this game thanks to Gab's playthrough and I love it. I've been eagerly awaiting this episode too since Gab seems to enjoy the game as much as I do, if not more.
Apparently if you decide not to let the researcher take the dog, you're stuck with it ... and it won't be lost from hull damage!
I haven't loved a game this much in a loooong time. I even made "Throw It Back" buttons. Thanks for pointing me in its direction!
i noticed the researcher got a smile after adopting the dog :))
Everytime I have a bad day, I put on a long gab video and just settle down. I always feel better by the end of it🥰
