I am an avid #MentalHealthAwareness advocate and performer, and I love this so much. I travel the country trying to bring that awareness on stages, in classrooms, hospitals, and on my UA-cam channel, so I get excited when I see other advocates. 💙❤
This is so weird.. The exact same thing happened to me when I was a teenager and in my 20s it got really bad and I couldnt leave the house either for about a year after my first child.. I have also suffered with anorexia for about 6 years and self harm since I was about 13.. It is only now, aged 26, I feel i am maybe starting to cope with depression and anxiety a bit better.. Although I still cannot work. Thanks for speaking about this.. Sending much love and hope you are doing much better! From a fellow Scot xx
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm sorry you've had such a tough time but im so glad you feel you are starting to get a little better. sending lots of love! xx
I am male but this resonates with me , as I recognise many of the symptoms. No one really understands it unless they have experienced it. Hope you can keep free of it in the future. love and peace. Brian.
You got a great perspective when it comes to dealing with your depression, thank-you so much for sharing. Nice to hear an honest and positive point of view.
One of my good friends has been going through something similar recently and has chosen to share it with me. I feel so privileged that she has chosen me to be open with and I'm so glad she's gone and got the help she needed. She's an inspiration as are you. Like you said it's all circumstantial and it could happen to anyone. Thank you for being so open xx
This is fantastic Amy. Thanks for sharing your story, I like how you discuss that the dr handed you anti-depressants when you split with your husband, but how you recognised that it was situational and that tablets wouldn’t help. X
Love your story. I'm finding it difficult just now. Recently diagnosed with PCOS and have no one at all to talk to so it's good to know there is people out there to chat to!
Wow..sounds like you're reading my story. I tell people the same thing..when sad or upsetting events are happening i need to feel those emotions. I am a lot stronger today and I don't play with my meds. If don't take them..the effects can be felt within 24 hours. You have a friend here in NY. 😊
+Bernadette Mcmahon aw thank you so much for that lovely comment Bernadette! We visited NY earlier this year for our mini-moon! Also my mum is called Bernadette! Xx
So proud of you for this Amy, your honesty of this real life condition is so helpful to us all. We never know where our journey in life will take us but to recognise that we need to look after number 1 is where it starts! I'm am honoured to have you as a friend and value your honesty! Well done for filming this xxxxx
Amy thank you for such an honest video, whilst I don't have experience of what you've been through, apart from 2 weeks of the blues after my first child was born, I'm sure that your open and honest chat will help a lot of other mum's. Best wishes xxxx
Great video Amy, very hard to open up about this topic but you've handled it amazing. I had pnd with my first daughter and it is horrendous. You're an amazing mummy, keep being you xx
We done Amy this was a fantastic video. So well put. Thanks for sharing your journey and im sure you have just helped so many people. Well done to you x
Your story mirrors mine about 90% , pre natal is confusing to deal with, you put it down to hormones from being pregnant but it is scary when you finally see what your doing. Thanks for sharing your experience xxx
Very honest video, thank you for being so open and honest. That couldn't have been easy but in doing so you'll have helped so many. ❤️ I've suffered same, not a mum but completely understand your viewpoint on choosing those around you and the importance of self care.
I have a chronic illness that makes me anxious and depressed but the gp said since its situational they don't recommend meds for me . It's hard going isn't it
I suffered with depression and anxiety when I was a teenager so I can really relate, especially with the panic attacks. So brave to share your story, it's great to spread awareness and normalise these situations. ❤ I've been keeping an eye out for signs of postnatal depression, 2 months in and I'm lucky that I seem to be doing okay. I'm glad you are managing well, don't rush coming off your tablets, I used to try to do that and it never worked in my favour. You have a good community here for you as well, keep those positive people around you when you need them. 💕
+Heather Darroch thank you for taking the time to comment Heather, i really appreciate that!! So glad you've not suffered with PND since having your little one and congratulations!! Such an exciting time with a new baby! Xx
Thanks for sharing something so honest and personal Amy, i can relate to some of your experience as I think I had PND after having my son. It's so strange how it affects us mums, Thanks for sharing x
AmyBeingMum thanks Amy I'm feeling loads better now, it took a long time to get back to feeling like myself again but I'm pregnant with my 2nd and just hoping I don't feel that way again x
This is such an open and honest video. I suffered with depression in my late teens and thankfully I got the help I needed from my GP then. Thanks for linking up with #youryoutube
Thank you for sharing your story Amy, It's lovely to see someone who is willing to be open and honest about their depression and also the need for medication. I've been a sufferer for many years and take anti-depressants daily to make me 'normal', there are so many people who you talk to who just don't understand and tell you to "pull yourself together". I'm sure many people have found this video helpful. x
Thank you so much Rosey!! Im glad theres other people like me that just need a bit of help to keep on track! 👍🏼 thanks so much for watching and commenting! ❤️ x
AmyBeingMum oh bless you. I did watch it all and I am hardly able to say anything worth saying. It's so well done. Explained so clearly and in a way that is easily understood. Quite a talent as not many can do that.
