Quick update I missed in the video: To verify your Avatar Life account, you're required to upload a real-life ID document, like a passport, driver's license, or any other government-issued ID card. Plus, the name on this document must match the name on the PayPal account you use to purchase Av$. This is a major red flag for me. Also, it seems spell check isn't on their priority list. Stay informed and cautious.
For SL I needed to provide my drivers license and a picture of me holding it before they would update my address (couldn't get into skilled gaming areas). However, I asked them not to store my ID, and they confirmed they deleted it from the help desk once I was verified.
I've never heard of this Avatarlife, thank you for profiling it. As one who is a builder in Second Life, I'm very bothered that content creations are being used seemingly without the Second Life creator's permission. So I'll not even go there even to explore. My home is in Second Life.

The FREE items you are raving about are all stolen items created by people who put countless hours into them, people who create content that makes others happy for a living. Your complaints that the items in second life are not free, when we have lots of sales, gifts, hunts and giveaways is astonishing, nobody is entitled to someone else's art. "All of the free items have been copy bottled from SL." All? That is a statement often heard but untrue. While copybotting is prevalent on all platforms, there are many original content creators on both AvatarLife and Opensim who have created things that cannot even exist on Second Life due to arbitrary and severe SL limitations (prim limits, link limits, etc). In addition, when one speaks of "copybotting" we need look no further than Second Life itself, which contains untold numbers of copybotted items-- as well as LL knowingly allowing selling of free items not created by the seller (most of which prohibit such selling). In addition to this, at least two times in SL history users experienced "perms malfunctions" which turned thousands of merchant items full perm overnight. This put some merchants out of business and flooded the SL environment with "free" items. In addition, the SL TOS now claims that Linden Lab owns the copyrights to all user creations... which has some significantly questionable legal issues. (Does a company TOS have right to override Federal law regarding creator ownership?) Copybotting can't get much worse than the company's own historic flaws and decisions. Personally, I found this video somewhat nit-picky and biased. Every grid has its pros and cons. I don't use Avatar Life myself (mainly because it doesn't employ VARs), but there's no denying its unique business model that gives way free land and encourages people to make a home on their platform.

This is actually just like Second Life, Just seems they have taken and stole it and some creations from creators in SL to dress it up. I'm sorry to say but that is literally an exact copy of SL being thrown at us offering things that we have to pay for. A profile costs? The hell? Yeah I am sticking to SL because I can create anything and explore everything and have a profile without paying for it!
At SL theres a lot of stolen stuffs... And if they are "stolen" things, they will have been from other grids, because the things that are there are either old things, from creators who no longer exist in SL, and EVERYTHING was brought from other grids for free, it was not copied directly from SL and taken to AVL. AVL must be growing a lot for there to be people complaining against them and not against the older grids, like Sacrarium or Osgrid, which are the ones that copy the most from SL (and where most other grids get things from).

They have a lot of fixing to do on a lot of stuff. It's okay, but the marketplace is kind of cheap looking. Like there was no real work put into it. Group pricing shows that its free to create, but when you try to it says you don't have enough money to create one. Avatars look to Spanish. No variety that I have seen as of yet.
Avatar Life is essentially and Opensim grid. I wasn't impressed with it. It's been a while since I explored Opensim grids. I still have an old version on my Win XP laptop that I sometimes check out for nostalgia of the pioneer days. There are/were good Opensim grids that had a thriving community, such as Craft Grid, which was all about free and open source creativity. There is/was also 3rd Rock Grid, which which was one of the first adopters of Opensim, next to the Opensim grid itself.
@@LauraCI - You misunderstand, I have an old version of opensimulator that I can run on my old Win XP laptop. I've been on Avatar Life on my much newer laptop that runs various Linux distros. Currently, my main internal drive is on Fedora 40 Beta, with Plasma 6, Wayland, and Hyprland. But I do use Arch, Garuda being my favorite Distro in the Arch fork of distros. ArcoLinux behind it, since both have versions of their distros with Hyprland pre-installed. I had to install Hyprland manually on Fedora, and it took about 2 tries before I got it working as well as I wanted it to. Anyways, Avatar Life is what it is. Unfortunately, many OpenSim grids are dying out. 3rd Rock Grid had to close because one maintainer left and can't be found again, and another died. The remaining maintainers don't know how to get into their server, so they decided to close it all down. 3rd Rock Grid had been one of the more active community grids since as far back as 2009.
I understand that secondlife has been a large part of your life and you have a positive associate with it, however.... I don't get the blind loyalty to a company that has done nothing significant for it's consumer base in the last 2 decades. Not to mention a company complicit with the promotion and simulation of child abuse on it's grid.
Second Life has kept advancing over the years mesh, bento anims, bento mesh, pbr, moved to a cloud, better member benefits, new linden homes.. and so many other things as well as they're always updating things! It's not blind loyalty lol and to call it such is pretty ignorant. Second Life has more content, original content, interesting places to explore, diverse communities, it's own economy, and a community that has been around for decades and growing. As far as the allegations go, no place on social media, online gaming, virtual worlds.. not any of it is "safe" and honestly never will be because any sicko can get access to a computer and the internet. The company has not been proven to be complicit in anything and there is currently an investigation that is ongoing & many questionable places have been shut down. There were no child abuse allegations there were ageplay allegations (two different things) but both very disgusting. i will add this though (there is ageplay) in Avatar Life but no one has written a huge blog about it yet.

Hon, Linden Research, Inc. was acquired by an investment group led by Randy Waterfield and Brad Oberwager in 2020. Closing of the acquisition was subject to regulatory approval from U.S. financial regulators regarding Tilia Inc.'s status as a licensed money transmitter, as well as other customary closing conditions. Following the closing, Mr. Waterfield and Mr. Oberwager joined the board of directors of Linden Research, Inc. Linden Lab no longer exists. Linden Research, yes. In fact, if you buy linden, you will see that Tilia is handling the money, not Linden Labs.
@@LauraCI I already know about the sale... but! Linden Lab still exists just because there was a sale does not mean it no longer exists. Spam isn't an opinion, it's a real thing. My apology if I misunderstood your context. As for why creators would join another platform, they see an opportunity to make more money without the rules and overhead implemented by LL and that's all there is to it. Also to mention, they can convert everything they've worked on in SL without too much work and run both with no real financial risk to themselves. Lure others to that plattform with free lands, everything has his cost and nothing is free and i choose better to pay a bit into second life and be save as to move to some plattform who did copy second life wtf! red flag for me too
0:46 Minute I hear Metaverse these days it's like "oh this is ai scam right?"
1:10 yep crypto lol
This is actually just like Second Life, Just seems they have taken and stole it and some creations from creators in SL to dress it up. I'm sorry to say but that is literally an exact copy of SL being thrown at us offering things that we have to pay for. A profile costs? The hell? Yeah I am sticking to SL because I can create anything and explore everything and have a profile without paying for it!
Have you time to compare Second Life verses IMVU?
From what I know about IMVU, although there are some similarities, they are different platforms. However, I will make a video comparing them.
I tried IMVU some time ago. It's not even comparable. IMVU is like a fancier more expensive Yoville.
Avatar life is full of stolen content including my own.
@@LauraCI Avatar life is full of banned copybotters who are not allowed on SL. I am not aware of other grids but I was made aware of my stolen content via promotional videos by avatar life account here on youtube. Stealing is always wrong. I don't care who stole it first, if you are hosting stolen content you are guilty.
@@freya33 cry again...
Hi @freya33 if you can identify your creations, AvatarLife is happy to take it down. We appreciate the hard work of creators like you. Being a creator myself , we are only too willing to work with creators who are passionate about creating great stuff!
@@freya33 It seems this Laura chick is probably one of the guilty ones. To defend it like this is sus and stupid.
I was put off Avatarlilfe almost immediately by their spamming. I just don't support anyone that uses such unethical methods of advertisiing. Something about that just doesn't look right.
BTW: I couldn't watch this. That obnoxious background noise drowns out your voice.
Happy New Year 2025 :)
There is/was also 3rd Rock Grid, which which was one of the first adopters of Opensim, next to the Opensim grid itself.
if you have an old version at your Windows XP, you dont saw Avatarlife. It dont run in that windows... and the grid have 3 years old.
Your images of AvatarLife remind me of Inworldz, but even more sparse.
Googled it, and I agree
wow!!
Second Life is better ! I use 14 years Avatar in SL is more real is like Real skin, hair, animation, etc.....
Second Life has 20 years history. It will be hard to beat that ...
I also have been in Secondlife for over 14 years and my Avatarlife avatar looks great!
Ohh i seen somepne make too video about avatarlife and looked worse than right now. Right Now it looks like copy paste of second life tbh and btw. nice video
Dont worry lindens labs will buy them and shut it down with any luck lol
I doubt LL would buy a shady business, and they are so shady they are no threat to SL.
They will dont do that.
Actually Linden Lab doesnt exist anymore...
@@LauraCI Linden Labs still exists lol
Tilia is a subsidiary of LL, Tilia is a financial services company that emerged from Linden Lab. The linden lab offices are still up and running lol they just helped us comply with US laws and regulations, this way we would not get shutdown... Like i said Linden Lab is still running and just because a company changes hands (as many do) does not mean it no longer exists lol. I'll say it one last time. the offices are still open, functioning websites and working employees LL is still open.
They all look the same to me...creepy and robotic...
They are far from the same, you can make your avatar unique, just like in SL
What is see here is a direct attack to Avatarlife. Based on assumptions and not directly facts.
Surely there are items from other creators but then go then any opensim and you will find the same items out there for ages.
Have you talked with the owners or members? No.
I see lots of new creators joining that are done with Second Life due many reasons.
So i assume you got paid by someone that has interest in putting AvatarLife in a bad daylight rather then knowing facts.
I haven't been sponsored or compensated by any party. An unexpected message prompted me to explore Avatarlife, touting its superiority and speed, leading me to join and investigate firsthand. My videos reflect my genuine opinions, uninfluenced by financial incentives. I'm open to reviewing products or services, though I offer no guarantees of a favourable outcome. Curiously, if Avatarlife truly excels, why resort to persistent spamming on Second Life and its Facebook groups? A genuine company would invest in legitimate advertising if necessary, rather than spam their competitors to gain attention.
@@secondlifespectrum First of all i cant agree with Spam.
I like the way you compare with a grid 20 years old and one 3 years as you assume.
Why compare websites where Linden has hands full with developers where avatarlife only has 1 ?
Its Like comparing Apple with Pears
I was born in SL in 2006 so i defo know how they started and yes for sure they have the leading role in being first with all.
Does it tell you something the creator of Zyngo and famous scripters of AOS Gaming joined avatarlife. Guess all for a good reason.
@@tessdeleeuw9441
Unless i misunderstood your context and by "cant agree with spam", you mean " cant condone spam", there's threads all over reddit and everywhere about the spam they're getting inside SL and on the Facebook page.
The only issues I've had moving between SL and an OpenSim are with physics, not scripts. Always trace the money and you'll find the answers. That said, if you're having fun in SL or AvatarLife, great. Have fun. As for me though, even without YT videos, reddit posts, SL spam messages etc., everything about it has my gut warning me not to give them my credit card info, and I always go with my gut. 🙃
@@tessdeleeuw9441 Many creators dip their toes in many different virtual worlds and games to make more income that is not something new and does not mean they've left Second Life 😂 also just because someone has a differing opinion than your own does not mean they were paid to express that opinion. You saying that "Surely there are items from other creators but then go then any opensim and you will find the same items out there for ages" is you simply trying to condone content theft, if avatar life is so great! they should be able to mesh all of their own stuff from the ground up. They allow the theft to continue simply because they're unable to create anything unique and sustainable which is why they wont last. They will continue to attract users who just expect everything to be free in turn their world will never grow.
Will someone reimburse original creators for the stolen content that is distributed without our permission for free and for sale in the Avatarlife? I have spotted my own content in the very PROMO videos by AvatarLife. Majority of the content I have seen is stolen. I never gave permission to copybot my items and place them on their grid.
