- Yes, it was an April Fool's joke, sorry about that. But it's also a warning about what we can still expect from artificial intelligence. I've already received some angry reactions, and that's completely justified. The mentioned technologies do indeed exist, so conceptually, my description is theoretically possible to a certain extent. I hope this video sparks a conversation about this subject. @secondlife#metaverse #avatar
After ten years of uploading custom mesh into SL, the excitement of this new generative AI thing possibly making my work oh so much easier got me experimenting with the 3D-AI platforms available at this time (Spring 2024). In short: the high poly-count of AI generated 3D content is going to crash SL if you try to build a sim from it.
it's all evolution, perhaps the clients in the future will upscale details by using AI, like new TV's upscale to 4K by using AI 😀

Show us how the cars drive. You can make a car ‘statue’ but let’s see it ‘function’. I have 100 SL cars. They may kinda choke at a border crossing, but ive driven em across the mainland.

Haha, you totally had me going! Although... this could be done. And it could be done with a code LLM for meshes, scripts, animations, textures. The hold data object!

Interesting concept, but maybe applying it as an aggregator searching the Internet for free 3d mesh downloadable models. Then there is the Sloppy way SL uses to upload Mesh. OpenSim is a much beter way to go since SL is slowly fading away. I see more an more people leaving SL to OpenSim, especially my Grid.
Your wrong people will do what is familiar. Learning a whole new system is for the young not the old. It takes old people like me twice as long to learn something new. Eventually we give up an walk away. Go back to what is familiar.
@@lemartes9469 Wrong, not really, If you are in SL, OpenSim is about 80% the same thing and it has been around 17 years. SL 20 years. The only difference is setting the Firestyorm OS viewer up and the way you get around. All Ver y very Simple and no frustration attached. No need to walk away. Teleports are a little different. Also it is very peaceful there, and in my 14 years of OpenSim, one troll causing issues. The only frustration for some is setting a mesh avatar up or a system avatar if you chose so.
In my 16 years of SL there have seen countless trolls, Drama Queens and as they call them Karens now.
Uploads are free, mesh bodies and heads are free, clothing is free, and land in 98 percent of what Grid you join is free. In general, everything is free there.
Greedy LL charges $250 to $350 US for One Region a month. I have 93 regions and it only cost me $40 US a month for my Server rental in the states. My users if they want land get a full region with 6000 prim for free, for now. If I surpass 100 users then it would be £3.96 here or $5 US dollars a month for a full region to cover my increase server load which would then have to be upgraded.
As for old people, I am 65 The average age in OS is around their 50's. Some are in their late 70s early 80s there. I am not trying to persuade you or anybody into joining my grid or an anyone elses grid. Linden labs is having legal issue in the states. If they survive this investigation this time, they will be real lucky. You may have noticed you had to agree to a new TOS in the past two months when you logged in. The change was do to the many complaints of children showing up in SL of late and also the way they market Second Life to Children. In My 16 years I have not won anything or gained points, but I have spent quite a bit of money in my years in SL.
The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) in the US has received quite a few complaints against the Labs. The word has been getting around due to their disgusting actions of promoting SL as a Game and targeting under aged children with a couple ads that were circulating the Internet. No Teen grid is going to work this time around. Read the flimsy TOS about Age. And by the way, hundred's of complaints were filed. I have seen some of the emails from some of my OS users that they sent to the FTC. Word gets around quick and this is not rumor either. One of my users has even had a seven (7) year old girl on their Adult rated Region which in Voice the child was verified as seven years old. This was Not RP. That child has been removed from SL, not saying they will create another account if LL has not banned the IP, Mac address, and the computer Hardware ID. That is the three things they do to prevent someone creating another account if banned.
Many are leaving SL and ar joining OpenSi weekly if not daily, they see the writing on the wall and are cutting their losses.
